At the ExCel London, there will be a unique track that weaves its way inside and outside the exhibition centre and around the historical heartland of the Royal Docks. British drivers have traditionally done well in the UK’s capital city – there have been four home winners so far.

Great Britain’s Jake Dennis could be the man to make it five winners. He’s been flying high in the standings this season, winning the opening race in Mexico City and the most recent one in Rome. However, he’ll be facing tough opposition from New Zealander Nick Cassidy who is hot on his tail.

I love cars. Porsches are my very favourite. Just to be clear, I don’t own one! I own about 100! None of them are big enough for me to get in and drive, though. I also love watc motor racing, so maybe I’ll cheer for the Porsche Formula E team this weekend.

I’d have loved to have been a racing driver. However, God had a different idea for me. I never meant to be the editor of a Christian comic for children. God just nudged me towards it. I’m really glad he did – I love it!

I don’t know what you want to be when you grow up: a vet; a YouTuber; a footballer; a teacher. Whatever ideas you have about what you want to be, make sure you talk to God about them and be ready to let him nudge you in the right direction. You won’t regret it!

I Wonder…

I wonder if you’ve ever been left out of something. I’m sure I have, but I’m struggling to remember. That’s not because I’m super popular – I’m not. I reckon the reason I can’t remember is because whenever I have been left out, my family or other friends came up with fun things to do to take my mind off it.

Over the last four weeks of KA! JAM, we’ve read about some sad situations when people have been left out just because of the way they are – there’s a recap at the beginning of this week’s cartoon Bible story. In each of those stories, other people – friends, family or Jesus – have taken action to make things better.

This week we read about someone who was left out because they had a skin disease called leprosy. As if having leprosy wasn’t bad enough, because of the nature of the disease (it was very infectious), lepers had to live away from their families and friends. That must have been awful.

Once again, Jesus helps someone to belong by showing them kindness and healing them. I wonder who you could reach out to, show kindness and help to belong. Perhaps you should chat to your church leaders and work out if there’s more your church could do to make sure everyone is included.

Launched on 18 December 1958 by the United States of America, SCORE (Signal Communications by Orbiting Relay Equipment) was the first communications satellite. SCORE was 22 metres long and 3 metres wide – making it the largest man-made object ever to go into space at that time. The battery inside the satellite ran out 12 days after it was launched but fortunately 8 hours of data was collected.

While in orbit, an onboard tape recorder played a recording that became the first human voice to be broadcast from space. US President Dwight D Eisenhower’s Christmas greeting to the world was transmitted through radio signals, but the signal was weak, which meant only very sensitive radio receivers could pick it up. However, this message is considered the beginning of voice and data signals being sent to and from satellites in space.

Do you enjoy the sunny weather that (hopefully!) comes in the summer? It’s lovely to explore the countryside when the weather is nice, but it’s important to stay safe too. Then you can make the most of the wonderful sunny season.

The Countryside Code

Have you ever heard of The Countryside Code? It’s advice on how to keep yourself safe in the countryside, as well as looking after our beautiful outdoor spaces. Here’s some advice for your next countryside adventure.

Respect Everyone

Be considerate to those living in, working in and enjoying the countryside.

Leave gates and property as you find them.

Don’t block access to gateways or driveways when your parents or carers park their cars.

Be nice, say hello and share the space.

Protect the Environment

Follow local signs and keep to marked paths, unless wider access is available.

It’s also important to take care of our outdoor spaces in the following ways.

Take your litter home – leave no trace of your visit.

Do not light fires and only have barbecues where signs say you can.

Always keep dogs under control and in sight.

If your dog poos, bag it and bin it in any public waste bin or take it home.

Care for nature – do not cause damage or disturbance.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Planning properly before a countryside outing can help keep you safe.

Check your route and local weather conditions before you head out.

Follow advice on local signs as landowners voluntarily provide access to these paths and choose who can use them. Some open access areas are also made available in this way.

You can explore away from paths. This includes many areas of mountain, moorland, heath, down, coastal margin and registered common land.

The Little Mermaid Colouring. The colourful scales are amazing and it’s a great idea to add a stripy sun in the corner.

This pukka penguin colouring was sent by Eryn, age 5, to celebrate Penguin Awareness Day. We love the colour scheme she’s chosen – great work, Eryn!

Cwmbran Celebrates

The young people from Cwmbran Salvation Army had great fun celebrating their young people’s anniversary. All the children took part individually by singing, playing an instrument or reading the Bible.

The kids also made pizzas during the meeting as Major Diane talked about all the different parts of the pizzas. The base is Jesus as the foundation, the sauce is the word of God (the Bible), the toppings are different (just like people) and the cheese is the Holy Spirit that holds us all together.

This really cool Rocket Colouring was completed by Matthew, age 8. We’d love to take a trip to space in that rainbow rocket!
