Symbols In Evolution
Client: Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) retail store.
Objective: Make an informative and visually interesting poster about the invention of writing to be sold in the (ROM) retail store. The poster should identify the terms of Ideograms, phonographs and Alphabet system.
Solution: The design uses a mix of ancient letters and symbols from Egyptian, Greek, and Sumerian ancients to show examples of each term. The color palette inspired by the ancient Egyptian deep and strong color palette. The main concept was to organize the information and graphics in a modern and visually interesting way to read.

Ideograms Ideograms are specific signs and symbols that represent the word. For example the picture of the sun represents “sun” or “day”. Ideograms are mostly used to depict objects and concrete concepts.

Phonograms

For all the other words in the oral vocabulary that cannot be expressed through ideograms, phonograms are used. Phonograms are the sounds that represent the word but has nothing to do with the word it depicts, they are a picture version of a homophone. These are slightly more complex than the ideograms since it can represent a variable of one consonant or multiple sounds.

Alphabet System An alphabet is a standard set of letters (basic written symbols or graphemes) that is used to write one or more languages based upon the general principle that the letters represent phonemes (basic significant sounds) of the spoken language. This is in contrast to other types of writing systems, such as syllabaries (in which each character represents a syllable) and logographies (in which each character represents a word, morpheme, or semantic unit).

The writing system developed in Greece which first appears in the archaeological record during the 8th century BCE. This was not the first writing system that was used to write Greek: several centuries before the Greek alphabet was invented, the Linear B script was the writing system used to write Greek during Mycenaean times. The Linear B script was lost around c.1100 BCE and with it, all knowledge of

The Greek alphabet was born when the Greeks adapted the Phoenician writing system to represent their own language by developing a fully phonetic writing system composed of individual signs arranged in a linear fashion that could represent both consonants and vowels. Objective: Design a poster advertising the venue and date where the famous musician artist Maher Zain will perform his music in Toronto.
Solution: The poster uses a big black and white photo for the musician-artist Maher Zain to give more deep and powerful feel. I have chosen an elegant typeface to represent his style in singing.

Objective: Create a Time-line poster to feature a series of upcoming lectures that cover the different aspect of Renaissance from 1400-1700. The poster will be used at Robarts Library
Solution: The design uses a mixed of photography, graphics, typography elements that reflect the renaissance period style and the famous artworks in that period. The time-line was categorized in to three periods associated with the important design events to organize the information and make it easy to read.

Client: Personal Infographic.
Objective: The objective of this project was to collect and visually interpret a set of personal data. When presented this data had to simplify a complicated aspect of my lifestyle and present it in the form of a visually, appealing infographic. My personal focus was to collect accurate data for 14 days of cellphone usage.
Solution: I have created a measurement ruler to show the time I spend on each plication on my cell phone every day starting from 0-60 minutes. I have chosen a different color for each app to visualize the information easily using colors that make the design pop with bright, vivid colors on black background. The infographic uses a combination of different data visualizations to show the different aspects of data.

Client: Newspapers& websites
Objective: This project’s objective was to conceptualize and design an editorial infographic based on a refugee topic, and to use a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to tell an informative and interesting story, based on relevant research.
Solution: The design uses a combination of black & white real photography that show the refugee crisis around the world. I meant to represent the issue as an emotional story starting from the moment refuges leaf their homes and going through tough journey crossing seas and land and. The infographic ends by calling-to-action for readers to be involved and help in that crisis.

Client: Penguin Random House.
Objective: Redesign the cover and Typography of an existing outdated book.
Solution: The new design illustrates the last moments of the story when the pig become like humans. The selected colors represent good (White) and evil (Black) to show how power could turn people from good to bad. Red color represents the killing and bloodshed caused by the dictator. The stencil typeface expresses the book title and known as army or military font.

Emergency shelter for women & their children in need
Client: Nellie’s Shelter
Objective: Design a booklet for a women shelter. The design should light the social issue (Violence against women) from a design perspective. The Booklet should be designed in a typographic magazine-style.
Solution: I have designed a new identity for the shelter. The new logo takes the form of a heart to express the support and care offered by the shelter to the abused woman. The colors were selected as violet in varying tones. The design uses black and white images to give a deep and dramatic sense to light the issue. The Typography uses is clean sanserif typeface in different sizes and weights to establish a hierarchy that helps organize the information.

Objective: Design an exhibition brochure for the Inspiring Designer Zaha Hadid exhibition showcasing in DX, Toronto.The brochure will function as an overview of the work on display and a memento for the visitor.The brochure should focus on the typography especially well-Â crafted text design.
Solution: My concept for this booklet design is to mix between the name of the Zaha, her famous works and the information about her.I have collected photos of her famous designed buildings and trace them using Adobe Illustrator to give the feel of drawing and to enhance the brochure visually.Each page uses one letter of her name in a big form.The colour and typography uses are clear, elegant to express her style in design.

Client: Kleenex Canada.
Objective: To create a packaging design for a vintage Kleenex box ( Traditional tabletop tissue box). Consider criteria like printing technology available at the time(1970s), era-related graphics, colours, typography, demographics of the era, size and shape of the kleenex container.
Solution: This was a teamwork project. We started our design pross by researching the KLEENEX brand identity, Typography, packaging, colour, Pattern and design style in the 1970’s. Each member of the group has created a Kleenex box as part of the trio line series.

Solution: My main design goal was to create a package that is: practical, stands out, modern, sustainable and clean. My design posses started with deep research of tea’s packaging solutions, materials, processes, inks, etc..I have used tea leaves as a pattern for the package with a simple labels.

Objective: Creation of a new packaging system for a new line of an existing brand (packaging series).The project includes print advertising, web advertising, and addendum marketing materials for a SUSTAINABLE product and will be tied to a meaningful event or initiative through multiple media.
Solution: Our main design goal as a team was to create a package that is: practical, stands out, tells a story, sustainable. Our design posses started with a deep research of packaging solutions, materials, processes, inks, etc.. We decide to go Eco-friendly to reduce the use of plastic by creating a cardboard bread boxes instead of plastic, we created a vintage look for the package. We have created a new identity and a story for the new bread line, it’s “Della Nonna” means “from a grandmother in Italian” to give the feel of the homemade bread.

Objective: Design brand identity and brand manual for Zenith airlines a new Internal canadian airline. Design and produce a full colour mockup of visual identity standards guide highlighting proper usage of your visual identity and its component parts. The new identity should reflect the company values and mission.
Solution: The new identity inspired by the meaning of the word “Zenith” which is “the point on the celestial sphere” the logo is a set of connected points and lines between it, which means that Zenith will connect you to every point you wish safely” and this is the main goal for the company. The design uses the blue color as a primary color signifies the sky color and the safety.

Should reflect a unique approach to represent the City.

Solution: Aswan City is one of the hottest, sunniest and driest cities in the world. The main concept for the new identity is based on using the vernacular architecture features for the city, such as triangle shapes, curved edges and the local traditional colors. The main tourist Souq signs designed to use Arabic as a main language and English as secondary languages. The entrance sign made of solid acrylic with a matte finish to deflect glare from light.

Solution: The campaign designed to reach new customers through three stages. The first stage is ADVERTISING posters. CONDOMINIUM Client: Apex Development
Objective: Design a 5 piece campaign for a new condominium tower in The Distillery District. The Campaign will include condominium identity, the creation of an advertisement in Toronto Life, eight-page brochure, a sales folder, construction hoarding graphics and a website.
Solution: I have chosen the name Orchid for the new condominium. The Orchid flour is an elegant flour and the main concept is to design an elegant production for the campaign like the Orchid. The colors are soft and worm copied with photos. The typography is clean. The ad and the website reflect the same look and feel of the brochure.
