PASSIVE COOLING SYSTEM

 Louver windows offer variable ventilation path and speed options.  The provision of bottom and top vents maintains a exit for hot air and draws cool air inside.  The air flow pattern from different openings creates a cross ventilation system.  This technique of ventilation creates a passive cooling system that is sustainable and cost efficient that reduces mechanical and electrical consumption.

Need of this project Being an architect we create a very pivotal role in society. The aim is to create a design that can make an impact on the mind sets of people and also can help to create social awareness. Through this project I am creating a scope to understand people how Architecture can create a good space. As wherever we go architecture is always a part of a person’s life. Therefore this project can act as a transition of space from bad to good that also will prove how a surrounding and a living place affects a human mind to grow and heal.

The ramp on the right in the picture below is a additional part of the library that is especially designed for victims who prefer to sit and study on the ground. The ramp covers a distance of 45 m and is at the height of 3 m. On the top of the wall in the façade shown is the provision of jalies for sufficient lighting inside the library. Vault rooves are provided on the top for less heat gain. Jalis are provided more and more for the proper light and ventilation. On the top of the wall a small gap is created that will act as wind scoop. The design is made on the thought of providing two types of areas. TYPE A is designed for the victims that are comfortable in reading & learning with the proper utilization of table & chair. TYPE B is designed thinking about the sensitivity of the victims. As there will be number of the victims belonging to smaller areas or villages and could more comfortable in reading and learning while sitting on the ground.
