Not many people would expect to find their soul mate at 15 years old, while late night shopping with a head full of end-of-year exams and anticipating the freedom of the weekend. But for Raquel and Lachlan, this was fate.
On their 10th year anniversary, Lachlan surprised Raquel with a Story Bridge Adventure Climb. The whole way up, hidden beneath his sleeve, a diamond ring was tucked carefully into a scrunchie. At twilight, suspended high above the glittering city and under a darkening sky, Lachlan seized the moment and dropped to one knee. Their wedding was held in the misty hinterlands of Byron Bay, at the famous Fig Tree Restaurant with a sweeping view that overlooked the bay. The lush beauty of the venue, combined with the added touches of a sweet little vegetable garden and a sparkling pool, the warmth of raw timber walls in the restaurant and an abundance of blooms all worked to envelope the entire celebrations in soft romance and a relaxed atmosphere.

Raquel wore a custom made dress by MXM Couture. The design was a floating, hand-beaded French lace gown in a gentle mermaid style that was inspired by the designs of Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad. Paired with natural, sea salt tousled hair, and the Samantha Wills Safari Nights Ring in black, Raquel’s final look was a breathtaking picture of bohemian glamour. Bridesmaids were given free-reign to choose their own dresses according to individual style, within the guidelines of lacey white. Raquel’s mother handmade flower crowns for each bridesmaid, and Samantha Wills Bohemian Bardots were chosen especially to suit each personality and style.

“Bohemian Luxe� inspired the decor and styling. Raquel took cues from the bohemian designs of Samantha Wills jewellery and The Lane website, as well as illustrations by Birdy & Me; the soft pastel tones with just a hint of colour, surrounded by blooms and long flowing hair became the reference point for styling the bridesmaids and the venue. Tables were filled with flowers, and sitting among the blooms were 100 hand painted rocks that were placed on the menus and given as gifts to our guests, with their name and a personalised thank you message on the back. Outside, guests who enjoyed cocktails around the pool were surrounded by lace covered mason jars filled with white blooms and glowing candles that lit up the venue after night fell.
