Part of a larger scheme in collaboration with Assael Architects, Vulcan Wharf is a proposed mixed-use scheme on a former industrial site in Stratford. The architectural language is inspired by the industrial heritage of the site, and the unique composition of the ‘sentinel tower’ is a byproduct of the site boundary as well as strict right to light requirements for neighbouring developments.

Maggie’s Centre Cultural
A proposed extension to an existing Maggie’s Centre, the design draws influence from a previous extension designed by MJP Architects, which had been conceived as an elaborate piece of cabinetry. The design features various interlocking elements interspersed with glazing providing playful vistas; a rammed earth plinth upon which rests a capsule-shaped, scallop-profiled concrete element.

Primarily a feasibility study for a client in the process of purchasing a plot of land, the scheme consists of a mixed-use programme on a former industrial site. 3 towers extrude from a shared podium which itself wraps around a public thoroughfare, providing commercial space and residential units.

Sturry Street Residential
A small scheme providing 7 apartments between two blocks in a conservation area, consisting of a standalone “villa” and an extension to a 1970s terrace row. Precast window surrounds, GRC-clad overhanging eaves, feature brickwork and bespoke metalwork create a playful, shared language between the two blocks.

ACADEMIC WORK 06 Glaciology Centre
Switzerland’s glaciers are rapidly receding, and forecasts suggest they will pass into history by the end of the century. This project propoes an intervention through which the ongoing process of glaciological research is enabled and performed at the architectural scale.
07 Cinematic Projections
Situated on a congested intersection in the heart of Mexico City, this proposal adopts a particular architectural language to create a collection of indoor and outdoor cinema spaces whilst integrating the site’s original use as a major advertising location. Through the intertwining of these two closely related functions, the site becomes a series of cinematic concourses for pedestrians.

Glaciology Centre
A temporary tensile structure is suspended above a melting glacier, acting as a research platform into which inhabitable capsules are “plugged” into during the active research season. At the end of each season, the capsules and their harvested ice cores are returned to the mountainside station, whereby they become immortalized as part of a glacial museum. 27

A precursor to the glaciological research centre, this “Hiker’s Cabin” utilizes meltwater from the glacier to create a kinetic and ever-evolving spatial experience. Snow is captured and meltwater streams act as a ballast, activating mechanical devices to deform pseudo-traditional Swiss architectural elements; folding roofs, fake gables, unfolding picnicspaces. 28

Cinematic Projections
A key route permeates the building, connecting the outer pedestrianwalkway with the lush garden courtyard concealed within. This route also implements access to the metro station below. Bordering this route, an internal cinema space is sunken into the ground to provide partial acoustic insulation from the busy surroundings. 29
