ANTHROPOMETRY A BACHELOR'S DEN.
PROGRAM
Introduced in foundation year, this studio talks about the basic Anthropometry and a human's Movements. The brief was to design a residence for a bachelor with a condition that the volume of the residence shoud not be more than 30 meter cube.
REQUIREMENT
Study Sleeping Place Eating Cooking Toilet
Elevation APPROACH With the condition of limited volume, one must avoid unused spaces and dead pockests in order to reduce volume. Such spaces were imagined mainly in volumetric form, keeping in mind the anthropomentry of a person and the application of multifunctional spaces to perform more than one task on the same space but at different times.

BASIC DESIGN
DECODING STRUCTURAL SYSTEM OF A BRANCH. PROGRAM
The exercise began as an understanding of a branch through it’s structure and the placements of it’s vertices and joints. Further more it was transmute into different forms on the basis of basic fundamental and principle of a branch.
REQUIREMENT
Trangulation Surface Development Conceptualization Visualisation
A sectional view of the physical model. Selected branch with it’s joints and vertices joined with a thread which generates triangular surfaces.
Sketches from different views to understand the geometrical aspects of the generated surfaces.
Enclosed model of the triangulation and a rendered sketch from a different view.
Conceptualization of the enclosed model into a space/building. APPROACH After exploring the triangular modulation and developing the enclosed surface model out of it, the lines and edges were replaced with sticks and a frame structure was developed. After that surfaces were added assuming the frame structure as a three dimensional space.
CONVERSATION OF A PAPER MODEL PROGRAM Using any of the methods out of cut, fold, peirce, pleate and wrap a two dimensional surface was transmuted into three dimensional composition. Selecting a material feasible to the composition and applying it on the composition to understand the geometry and characteristics of the composition. Selected material was broadly studied, and details were executed to the actual scale along with a model of the materials, wood and tensile fabric.
REQUIREMENT
Three Dimensional Composition Surface Development Material Exploration Conceptualization Execution on actual scale Plan of the physical model in compression.
Geometry of the model was derived from a paper model shown above.
Plan of the physical model.
APPROACH Wood members with particular sizes was taken and treated as edges of the shapes formed in paper model. Making a triangle and joining it with another with hinges allowing the model to be in compression when applied the force.
Eleveation of the physical model in compression.
MATERIAL STUDIO
PROGRAM
REVITALIZING KAMATIBAUG OAT, VADODARA
Given site was an existing amphitheatre in Kamatibaug, Vadodara. where a shade was to be provided for the open air theatre of a specific material. Primary material was to be used as a covering material and secondary material was to be used as structural material.
REQUIREMENT
As per the chosen material a shade was to be provided for the existing amphitheatre. Material analysis. Specific ratio of primary and secondary material.
SITE PLAN Vadodara, Gujarat Site area: 3500 M2
APPROACH Tensile fabric was chosen as primary material and steel as secondary material. Tensile fabric is feasible material to be used as a covering material. Material is very lightweighted and heat insulating. Steel is used as structural material and as a membrane for the structure.
CONTEXTUAL DOCUMENTATION JAI SINH RAO LIBRARY, VADODARA.
PROGRAM
The program was to document the Jai Sinh Libraby, previously known as State Librabry founded in 1876 by Maharaj Sayajirao Gaekwad III. The Library was completely documented and anlysed, from it’s indo saracenic details to it’s grain analysis of area within 500 meter radius.
REQUIREMENT
Measure Drawing Contexual Analysis Climatic Analysis Grain Analysis
APPROACH Architectural style of the library was studied in detail, understanding all the structural components, climatic responses and aesthetic elements. Simultaneously other buildings were studied and compared with the library to analyze how architecture has changed with the time.
CONTEXTUAL DOCUMENTATION JAI SINH RAO LIBRARY, VADODARA.
APPROACH
Measuring and documentation of the site has revealed many design principles which were reflective to the function of the space. Brick and lime was used as both structural and decorative purpose. Openings of the building were set in a specific proportion and had decorative elements of Indo Saracenic style around it. Along with the materials and function aspects the library was also climate resposive in every manner with proper layirng in roofing system.

PROPOSAL
As a city Vadodara has got many remarkable heritage site, after studying one of the buildings and a brief survey it was concluded that many of the site needs to be preserved and conserved. To run this type of operation a head-quarters is needed with offices for specific departments and also to display finest of the heritage of the city. After analysing the site of Jai Sinh Rao library more issues were concluded such as heavy foot fall in lunch time and structural degradation of the library over the years and to response the present conditions and issues of the documented site a cafetaria and reading place, considered as annexure to the Jai Sinh Rao library is provided. All of the proposed functions were supposed to be meant for the upliftment of the library and other heritage buildings of Vadodara city without over powering the functions of the existing buildings.
REQUIREMENT

AXONOMETRIC VIEW OF ANEXURE FOR LIBRARY
AXONOMETRIC VIEW OF HERITAGE CELL
APPROACH Form of the building of heritage cell is derived from a simple square grid where all three floors have different composition of square with proportionate changes as per the function and character of the floor. Ground floor is treated as a public space, first as a semi-public and second floor as a private space and functions of the floors are decided accordingly.
SITE PLAN Vadodara, Gujarat Site area: 3800 M2
CONTEXTUAL STUDIO
APPROACH
The aim was to design a building which responds to the context functionally and visually. Existing building in the context where designed in different times which allows the building to have an specific identity, responding to that, form of the building was designed in a manner that it should differ from other forms of existing building and have an identity of itself. Meanwhile Architectural elements of the existing buildings was used in the designed so that the building doesn’t overpower other building.

INSTITUTIONAL STUDIO
PROGRAM
The brief was to design a Skill Development Centre in the isolated mountain ranges of wilson hills located near valsad for the people of the district respectively. As Skill Development Centre offers specialisation in fields necessary for daily uses; e.g. carpentary, plumbing, home science and humanities etc. Such institutes are mendatory for the upliftment of villagers and people of valsad as well as it also provides a two year course with a degree for each subjects. A skill development centre generally has three verticals which are skill enhancement, humanities and home science and soft skills. Except soft skill department other two departments requires workshops as a learning place and a place to take lecture within workshops. Also common amenities necesaary for an institute such as canteen, admin, library ect. along side the hostel for boys and girls, residence for staff and bunglow for director.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, WILSON HILLS.
APPROACH The zoning of the institute is done in such a way that all of the workshops are scattered in a radial manner where workshop of three major verticals of the institute which are Soft Skill, Skill Enhancement and Humanities and Home Science are connected to a central space, giving an introvert character to all the workshop of a specific department. Furthermore all the central spaces per department are connected to a larger central space giving a character of introversion to the whole academic area and allowing all the students to interact with each other.
INSTITUTIONAL STUDIO
APPROACH
Site plan is basically split in to different parts which are academic area and residencial area. Where orientation of workshops are in a manner that will catch the south east winds and direct it to the central space from where it can spread on in all directions. All of the circulation in site is according to slopes of the site as vehicular circulation go around the institue and pedestrian circulation goes in between. Aminities are placed according to the needs of departments. Residencial area is placed at the end of a site because of the privacy concerns. Zoning follows the same climatic principles and also placed according to functions.
