hopscotch films John Archer, Managing Director www.hopscotchfilms.co.uk John Archer founded Hopscotch Films 10 years ago. He is a former Head of Music and Arts for the BBC and is a BAFTA award winning producer. Since Hopscotch was formed the company has produced documentary and arts series for many broadcasters including the BBC and Channel 4. The company is currently co-producing with a Dutch company. Hopscotch recently completed a major (15 x 1hr) project – The Story of Film: An Odyssey. Six years in the making, it tells the history of international cinema and includes Scandinavian film and filmmakers. It has been shown at the Toronto Film Festival and Rio Film Festival, is soon to be shown at the Dubai International Film Festival and will have its European Festival Premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival early in 2012. This major series has also been transmitted on Channel 4 television in the UK. It is currently selling internationally. Hopscotch have a number of projects that John will bring with him.


B4films Jim Brown, Creative Director www.b4films.com Jim Brown is a co-founder of B4films. During his career Jim has written, produced and directed over 1300 hours of broadcast programming for UK broadcasters including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky as well as for many international broadcasters including Discovery and Biography Channel. Jim has won awards including a Silver Rose at Montreux and a Gold Medal at the New York Film Festival. B4films will bring a slate of 10 formats suitable for international territories including original factual series “Secrets beneath the Streets” and “World Cafe” an original cookery format.




One Eyed Dog Cassian Hall, Creative Director www.one-eyed-dog.co.uk Cassian Hall is a former archaeologist and historian whose first move into the media was writing for BBC drama, as well as appearing on screen for Channel 4’s long running, multi award winning archaeology series Time Team. Cassian joined One Eyed Dog in 2007 as Creative Director. The company has developed content for the US with BBC Worldwide and Cassian is currently developing a major factual documentary series with Sprout Pictures, and working on the development of a format for the Dutch market. Amongst Cassian’s project is 3D Time Machine – a factual archaeology series format, and Archaeologia – a feature documentary telling the story of prehistory through excavation photography and testimony of the archaeologists.

Arlene Jeffrey, Production Executive www.timelinefilms.co.uk Arlene Jeffrey is the Production Executive at Timeline Films. The company specialise in high quality documentary and factual programmes including the highly successful series Grand Tours of Scotland for the BBC. Timeline has also just completed a one hour documentary for Channel 4 “2012: The Maya Apocalypse” scheduled to air in peaktime, January 2012. Timeline has a number of projects in development including a documentary series titled “Capital Crimes” which is specifically aimed at UK and Scandinavian audiences. Arlene has previously worked on projects involving international partners including Inspector Winter, a co-production with SVT in Sweden.


True tv Barbara Orton, Director www.truetvandfilm.co.uk Barbara Orton is an award winning independent producer of factual singles and series, and documentary films for the UK and International market. She is active at International Festivals and on industry panels. Barbara’s first film was the BAFTA award winning ‘In Cuba They’re Still Dancing’ made for the BBC which was distributed worldwide. Another highlight was producing the True TV series ‘Bruce Goes Dancing’ for BBC One primetime with top UK TV star Bruce Forsyth. Barbara has recently produced and directed a film for the ZDF/Arte series ‘Gardens of Delight’ which was coproduced with Lichtblick Film in Germany. She is currently developing ‘I Nearly Died Laughing!’ a cross-platform factual series for TV and online with development finance from the EU MEDIA programme. Barbara has already developed some contacts with colleagues in DRTV and also at SVT.




Caledonia TV Seona Robertson, Managing Director www.caledonia.tv Seona Robertson is the founder and award winning Executive Producer for Caledonia TV who is also in charge of Caledonia’s international and co-production business. Caledonia TV has produced hundreds of hours of programming for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Five, History Channel Europe, USA and Australia, the Crime and Investigation Channel and Germany’s ZDF. The company’s programme range covers documentary, history, arts, factual entertainment and current affairs. Caledonia TV’s international programmes include a major drama documentary co production – “The Father of Australia” (BBC, Screen Australia, Screen New South Wales and The History Channel Australia) - and programmes on British royalty - Power Couples - Charles and Diana, Monarchy - The Queen and The Real Queen - for Germany’s ZDF. Caledonia’s programming has sold internationally, for example, Chosen People (BBC2), Execution at Camp 21 (Channel 4 and The History Channel), My Husband’s Gay (ITV), and Superstar on Trial (Channel 4 and the Crime and Investigation Channel)


Matchlight David Smith, Managing Director www.matchlight.co.uk David Smith is Managing Director of Matchlight, one of Scotland’s biggest factual television production companies. Matchlight has produced successful primetime shows for all of the UK’s main television networks including BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, ITV and Channel 4 in a range of factual genres from documentary and current affairs to arts and history. Recent hits include Dangerous Drivers’ School. Matchlight distribute their output internationally through DCD Rights including into the Scandinavian markets. Matchlight’s awardwinning team of producers has enjoyed international success and have won BAFTA and Royal Television Society awards as well as an International Emmy.



Autonomi Marie Olesen is an award-winning TV producer and cofounder of Autonomi. The company produces current affairs, drama and documentaries for both international and United Kingdom audiences. They have produced primetime current affairs and observational documentary for BBC One, BBC Two and Channel 4 in the UK and for a raft of European broadcasters. Marie is Danish and is currently setting up a new production company in Demark to help facilitate coproductions. Autonomi has a number of early stage projects that are targeted specifically at Scandinavia. Autonomi has been nominated for many awards and is the recipient of : Golden Bear Best Short - Berlinale 2005 (Milk); Best Live Action and Best Actress, Premier Plans, Angers 2005 (Milk), Best Film, Scottish Muslim Awards 2010 (Islamophobia ).
