P9 JAZZ CENTER BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Located in the heart of downtown Boston, the Parcel 9 Jazz Center is between the historic colonial center and Boston’s North End neighborhood. The building evolved out of careful integration with existing site forces and codes. We embraced the movements through the site by elevating the main gathering and performance spaces which maximized public use on the ground plane. The project is a beacon and focal point, a new destination in downtown Boston.

Sequential Arts Center Location: Chicago, IL Year: Spring 2009 Professor: Cameron Campbell
COMIC DYSTOPIA CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Conceptual and graphic exploration of an Arts center in downtown Chicago. The center is dedicated to the sequential arts, i.e. comics/graphic novels. The form and style were inspired by dystopian cities that exist in comic books. Users move through the building just as eyes move across comic books, frame to frame, room to room.
House for a Writer Location: Gilbert, IA Year: Fall 2008 Professor: Kimberly Zarecor
HOUSE FOR ONE GILBERT, IOWA

DN UP
The assignment was to design an 800sqft. house for a certain occupation. I chose a science-fiction writer. The monolithic forms of the house, garage, and shed are similar and appear to be entities slowly rising from the hill. The interior consists of an open double-height living/dining/work space with the sleeping quarters located a half-level below grade. The house has several spaces to allow the writer to work and draw inspiration from, notably the large sky deck and the sunken sleeping quarters that over look an infinity pool.
TEXTure Wall Mockup Year: 2010 \\ Iowa State “Assembled” Exhibition Honorable Mention - 2012 Professor: Samantha Krukowski
TEXTURE
The project called for students to take ordinary materials and create a new experience or moment to be used in a wine bar. “TEXTures” was created by hand molding shredded paper with glue and water onto an undulating frame of plywood and window screen. The remnants of documents and spreadsheets form new meanings in a dynamic, textured, landscape which can be lit from behind for added effect. The wall becomes a conversation piece, an “I SPY” for patrons to ponder as they enjoy their wine.
ArmadilLUX Light Fixture Year: Fall 2011 Professor: Mikesch Muecke
ARMADILLUX
The idea was to create a flexible light fixture that could be a desk lamp, wall sconce, and hanging light. The flexible form inspired by the armadillo creates vibrant patterns of light with the different shapes it takes.
