SAME completes its range of specialised tractors with the new WALKER series, comprised of 3 models with power outputs ranging from 30 to 50 hp. The world leader in the specialised tractor market now offers an unrivaled choice of orchard, vineyard and garden tractors. The WALKER range represents a whole new venture for the SAME brand: our first tractors with equalsized wheels, which by virtue of their compact dimensions, outstanding manoeuvrability and low weight, are able to operate efficiently and reliably in nurseries and greenhouses, in narrow rows and on steep slopes. The current trend in orchard and vineyard cultivation is towards increasingly dense planting, leaving less room for machinery to operate.

3

Three advanced models. Stability and reliability on all types of terrain The 3 models of the WALKER range are equipped with mechanical transmissions with a 4-speed gearbox and two ranges, giving a total of 12 easy-shift ratios (8 FWD + 4 REV) which enable the WALKER to minimise fuel consumption and to reach the top speed of 30 km/h with maximum efficiency. The SAME WALKERS also come equipped with hydraulic services and lift capacities suitable for all types of specialised application.

In addition to its extremely compact size, the WALKER range is characterised by a central pivot, which allows rotation about a vertical axis. This ensures excellent stability over rough ground and helps maintain tractive power at a constant level while achieving superior operator comfort. The articulated frame is comprised of strong steel beams fixed to the tractor axles and joined in the centre by a pivot allowing 15° of rotation. The frame incorporates the front and rear transmissions, effectively protecting them against impact. The central pivot connects two carriages of equal weight and size, allowing them to oscillate independently, thereby allowing the vehicle to cope better with rough terrain. This particular design means that the driver's seat can be positioned lower; this helps reduce the overall height of the machine and keeps the centre of gravity very low for greater stability, while still ensuring excellent ground clearance.

15°

This makes the WALKER highly manoeuvrability and exceptionally stable even on steep slopes. Because the engine overhangs the front axle, when the tractor is

4

unladen, 60% of the weight is on the front axle and 40% on the rear. This means that when an implement is attached to the rear 3-point linkage the weight distribution is practically perfect.

50% 50% For maximum stability and reliability, the tractors in the WALKER series have steering front wheels, not just a pivoting frame as on many other tractors with equal sized wheels. The excellent manoeuvrability of the WALKER is guaranteed by the light and

Walker 30

precise hydraulic steering, which allows rapid turns in tight spaces. Agility is further enhanced by a short wheelbase (which varies between 1.10 and 1.38 mm) and an overall width of between 1.07 and 1.25 m. These factors combine to produce a much reduced turning radius, resulting in shorter manoeuvring times and less operator fatigue.

Walker 40

The engine The modern naturally-aspirated diesel engines with 3 or 4 cylinders used in the SAME WALKERS deliver power outputs of 26, 38 and 48 hp (respectively 19, 28, and 35 kW) and fully conform to Tier 3 emission standards. The PTOs The standard equipment package includes a 540 rpm PTO and a synchronised PTO with two separate output shafts.

THE DESIGN The elegantly styled bodywork of the WALKER series is finished in classic SAME livery. The fenders and bodywork are made from sheet steel for maximum strength and the front carriage incorporates a cast steel ballast block. The engine hood features extensive air intake vents and tips forward to provide easy access for routine servicing.

The perfect combination of efficiency and comfort

Walker 50

The seat with adjustable suspension provides a comfortable driving position, which is enhanced by the ergonomic and correct positioning of control pedals and levers. The instrument panel is clear and can be read at a glance, and comprises all the necessary information to monitor the operation of the tractor. To protect the operator from noise and vibration, the hood is lined with sound deadening material and the engine is suspended on silent block mountings. All models in the range, including the standard level model, can be equipped with seats with adjustable suspension.

Walker 30: compact and manoeuverable. The WALKER 30 is the entry level model in the SAME range. As well as being the most compact tractor in our entire range, it is an extremely versatile machine, capable of meeting the needs of the domestic user as well as the professional working in specialised areas such as greenhouses, nurseries and grounds care.

The 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with direct injection and water cooling has a total displacement of 1116 cc, obtained with a cylinder bore of 76 mm and a stroke of 82 mm. Maximum power (97/68 EC) is 26 hp (19.2 kW) at 3200 rpm, while the peak torque of 67.8 Nm is attained at 2000 rpm and remains almost constant between 1500 and 3000 rpm. The transmission, with permanent fourwheel drive, is structured for maximum reliability; it is based on a gearbox with easy-shift speeds and a clutch allowing smooth, gradual engagement. The 4-speed gearbox and two range gears combine to give a total of 12 speeds (8FWD + 4REV) and a homologated top speed of 30 km/h.

6

The standard specifications includes two separate PTOs with two splined stub shafts – one 540 rpm and one synchronised with the gearbox (Ground speed PTO). Drive engagement is smooth and without jolting. The drive to the front-wheels can be disengaged using a control lever. The open-centre hydraulic system is powered by a fixed displacement pump with a maximum capacity of 20 l/min. The rear hydraulic lift offers float and position control for implements attached to the category I 3-point linkage. The maximum lifting capacity at the lower link ends is 950 kg. The CUNA category C rear towing hitch is height adjustable.

The front and rear differential locks are activated individually by means of different pedals, one for the left foot and one for the right. The rear brakes allow a smooth, positive braking action with short stopping distances.

Operator safety in the event of an overturn is provided by a rear roll bar with two uprights, approved to international standards, that can be partially folded when required, and a lap seat belt fixed to the driving seat. The WALKER 30 has 4 equal-sized tyres (7.50-16) on adjustable rims that can be moved to obtain different track width settings. The fuel tank has a capacity of 21 litres that, combined with the

low consumption of the engine, gives sufficient productivity between refuelling stops to keep going, even on those work days that extend well beyond the traditional 8 hours. The remarkable versatility of the WALKER 30 is further enhanced by a range of equipment including a wide choice of tyres, separate brake controls, adjustable rear work light and a choice of one or two rear remote valves.
