Explorer³ T and TB tractors are simple, practical and functional, undoubtedly representing the ideal package for anyone wanting an affordable machine with low running costs, yet without sacrificing performance and dependability or forgoing the prestige of having a SAME as a fellow worker. Designed essentially with arable tasks in mind, Explorer³ T models will meet the many needs of smaller farmers enterprises looking for a versatile all-purpose machine, while also proving equally useful as auxiliaries working alongside the high powered fleet machines of fleets operated by larger farmers. Explorer³ TB tractors are low profile, well-structured, practical and functional. In effect, these are the attributes of a machine best able to take on the kind of duties associated typically with specialist crops, where the height of the tractor is a key factor in solving problems of space, and in rationalizing work schedules. Accordingly, the Explorer³ TB is perfectly suited for duties in greenhouses, wide row olive and citrus groves and orchards in general, even with mixed crops and irregular planting patterns. Explorer³ T and TB tractors are available in two models, 85 and 100, with two or four wheel drive: all with impressive standard equipment packages (such as 5-speed gearbox and all-wheel braking system), which can be further enhanced with higher level features like HI-LO shift, Sense Clutch hydraulic reverse shuttle, four P.T.O. speeds or ground speed P.T.O. with independent shaft.

Deutz engines: guaranteed reliable and durable Explorer続 T and TB models are equipped with the new Deutz 2012 series TIER III engines (4 cylinders, 4038 cm続 displacement), available in turbo or turbo/intercooled versions. Electronic engine management is standard. These tough, willing and reliable engines are designed to carry on working tirelessly for thousands of hours, with low running costs and extremely limited maintenance. With their generous displacement, innovative high pressure injection system and turbocharger, these are engines guaranteed to deliver significantly high levels of power and torque across a wide range of crankshaft speeds. In effect, maximum torque is developed by Explorer続 T models at just 1200 rpm and maintained steady up to 1800 rpm, to provide constant efficiency across a band of no less than 600 rpm.

The cooling system features a bank of radiator/cooler cores with a low clogging rate and removable fly screen (for quick and easy cleaning), which in combination with an appropriately sized fan will always ensure an optimum running temperature, even in hot conditions.
With a new 100 litre fuel tank, now located at the rear of the machine, refuelling stops will be few and far between.

All models feature electronic engine management: a state-of-the-art system that optimizes fuel consumption by ensuring exactly the right amount of fuel is supplied to the injectors, in response to varying load conditions. The key operating parameters of the engine are monitored by sensors and relayed to an electronic control unit, which then maintains each parameter at its optimum value by piloting the injection system accordingly. Fuel is metered so that the optimum amount will be supplied at any given moment, helping to maximize performance. The ECU also allows the operator to set, save and recall a minimum and maximum speed combination that will simplify the task of negotiating headland turns.

Thanks to particular, designed in, characteristics and the choice of suitable construction materials, the new Explorer3 T & TB engines are already totally compatible with the use of biodiesel ( as apposed to fitting a kit) and guarantee perfect functionality, achieving 100% utilization. (Biodiesel conforming to the specification EN 14214:2003). The special injection system found in Deutz engines, using an individual, immersed injection pump for each cylinder and also using special material with which to construct the fuel circuit, results in them being particularly suitable for the use of biodiesel fuel, which is characterized by a higher viscosity value and, from a chemical point of view, is much more aggressive.

Multi-purpose transmission: built to last, easy to use

Thanks to the trademark versatility and reliability of the transmission, Explorer³ T and TB tractors are genuine “all-rounders”, able to take on a wide variety of agricultural tasks. Two configurations are available: - mechanical transmission giving 15+15 speeds, or 20+20 with creeper range, both having a mechanical synchromesh reverse shuttle; - 40+40 transmission with HI-LO
shift, and “Sense Clutch” shift-onthe-go hydraulic reverse shuttle. Designed for strength, in particular, the transmission is built to handle all kinds of applications, whether operating at standstill (olive shakers, irrigation/drainage pumps, etc.) or on the move. The synchromesh rings are generously proportioned and engineered using special materials (molybde-
num and sintered bronze) to give more precise gearshifts, a lighter action when operating the shift lever, and less wear on components. Also contributing to the total reliability of the transmission is an efficient, dedicated cooler that will keep the gear lube oil at an optimum temperature, even during intensive and prolonged work shifts.

HI-LO: exactly the right speed, every time Out in the fields, soil preparation, harvesting, transplanting and trenching are no longer a problem: with the HI-LO shift, providing an abundant 40 forward and 40 reverse speeds, everything becomes simpler and quicker. Pressing one of two buttons on the shift lever, the driver can slip swiftly and smoothly from a normal ratio to a slightly lower ratio, under power and without using the clutch. With a top speed of 40 km/h, the Explorer3 will waste little time on the road when carrying loads or simply getting from A to B, whilst at the other end of the scale, creep speeds as low as 300 m/h (TB) and 360m/h (T) are possible. Naturally enough, performance of this kind is coupled with maximum active safety, provided by a braking system that uses oil-immersed disc assemblies operating on all four wheels, even for 2WD versions (Explorer3 T only).

P.T.O. and hydraulic system: versatility and multi-capability. The power of a DEUTZ engine does more than just turn the wheels. With a wide range of P.t.o. shaft speeds provided (540/540ECO, 1000/1000ECO), Explorer³ T and TB machines are able to take on a multitude of tasks, both around the yard and in the fields: soil preparation, hay-making, irrigation, weeding, and much more. Economy power take-off is particularly advantageous, as it allows

the operator to use only as much engine power is effectively needed, which means lower revolutions, less fuel consumed, and fewer emissions released. In addition, the Explorer³ is specified with independent ground speed P.t.o., which broadens the transport capability of the tractor, typically when towing drive axle trailers used in harvesting or spreading operations.
And there’s more besides… the concept of versatility and multi-capability in the SAME Explorer³ T and TB range extends similarly to applications where the implement lift and hydraulic spool valves are used. The sturdy construction of these tractors and the strength of the threepoint linkage combine to give a lifting capacity of up to 4300 kg, ensuring there will be no difficulty operating even the heaviest Cat.2 implements; with position, draft and mix control selected from the driving seat, mounted implements can be operated with ease and precision. The operating equipment package of Explorer³ T and TB models is completed by a hydraulic system with a 56 l/min pump and 3 double-acting auxiliary spool valves. Also helping to maximize the durability and reliability of the main hydraulic system is the fact that the hydrostatic power steering utilizes an independent pump, ensuring a light and fluid steering action, and complete functionality even at low engine speeds and regardless of loading conditions.

“Sense Clutch” hydraulic reverse shuttle
Also available on versions with higher equipment levels is a shifton-the-go hydraulic shuttle, using 2 oil-immersed “long life” multidisc clutches (for greater durability and reliability) and incorporating an electronic control unit that will enable operation under power up to 10 km/h, safeguarding the integrity of the mechanical components involved. The shuttle can be used to change the drive direction on all gear ratios, which saves a considerable amount of time when manoeuvring and making return passes. The shuttle lever is located beneath the steering wheel. Ergonomically designed and easy to use, it has a “neutral” position and will function only when enabled, to ensure total safety in operation.
The “Sense Clutch” hydraulic shuttle also simplifies the required manoeuvres when hitching up an implement.

Absolute comfort: wherever you look. On board an Explorer続 T or TB there is a feeling not only of rational and ergonomic ease, but of well-being and satisfaction too. With excellent weight distribution, an optimum balance between low centre of gravity and high ground clearance, plus high visibility in all directions, the sensation of safety and stability is immediate and palpable. No poring over controls and indicators: everything is clear and intuitive. The spacious platform is suspended on rubber silentblock mounts, ensuring its isolation from heat, noise and vibration; this in turn enhances appreciation of the pendant-style pedals, adjustable steering wheel, hydrostatically operated brakes and clutch, and the ergonomic advantages of the side-mounted levers. For the more comfort-conscious,
fender extensions and tough polycarbonate flaps (attached to the front part of the platform) shield the operator from splashes, dirt and debris thrown up by the wheels at higher speeds. Finally, the instrument panel: just a glance at the rational layout with clear, easy-to-read and visually attractive instrumentation gives the operator all the information needed for supervision of the vehicle, instantly. The ROPS is available with 2 or 4 uprights, in the following configurations:
