Chimney Point, Vermont is an unincorporated village in the town of Addison, Vermont. It is a peninsula that juts out onto Lake Champlain and is one of the earliest settled places in the Champlain Valley Area. During the Revolutionary War, Chimney point was occupied by both American and British troops. It has been a Vermont State Historic Site since 1966 and has one of only two bridges across the lake. The historical tavern at Chimney Point was restored in 1991 and has since functioned as a museum, this tavern was one of the first tap rooms. The museum is open from late May through Columbus Day. In late September, the area hosts the Annual Northeastern Open Atlatl Championship. The atlatl is an ancient spear throwing tool.
