The Development Review Board (DRB) meets to consider land use permits and appeals in accordance with our Land Development Regulations. The members of the DRB are a key component in ensuring that our City’s land use plans and visions are implemented correctly. The DRB meets regularly every first Monday at 6:30 PM in City Hall. No other board has a more direct effect on development projects in the City. The Downtown Board advises the City Downtown Program and works with City Staff to promote the downtown, organize events, and develop strategies for economic development such as filling empty storefronts. Members also act as the Board of Directors for the downtown non-profit St. Albans for the Future. Anyone enthusiastic about the promotion, design, organization and revitalization of Downtown St. Albans should consider membership. The Downtown Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM in City Hall. The City Planning Commission advises our planning program, discusses new initiatives for growth and development in the City and drafts the City Plan and Land Development Regulations. The Planning Commission meets regularly every third Monday at 6:00 PM in City Hall. No other local board has more of an effect on long-term planning and projects in our community! Members of these boards are appointed by the St. Albans City Council. At this time the WestRock Converting Company’s (formerly RockTenn Company) Missisquoi Mill, located in Sheldon Springs Vermont, is accepting bids for our winter yard maintenance covering November 15, 2018—April 15, 2019. The WestRock plant operates 24 / 7, and needs to be able to shuttle trailers around most hours of the day and night. Plowing, Sanding, and the ability to haul away excess snow when the need arises are minimum requirements. Plowing can be quite intense at times clearing trailer lots and loading docks, and you are expected to handle the job without direct supervision, including deciding when you need to plow and /or sand, as well as when to cut snow banks so vision is not obstructed around the facility. Some guidance will be given and cooperation solicited concerning parked cars and trailers during heavy storms however it is anticipated that plowing both before and after shift changes will be normal.
