This is a full-time, 40 hour per week supervisory/working position with oversight of three full-time and one part-time employee. Benefits include paid vacation, retirement plan, sick leave, and health insurance. The Road Foreman is responsible for developing a weekly work schedule and the annual department budget. The Road Foreman must be available for overtime work as required and attend a minimum of one Selectboard meeting per month. He or she must respond to all snow plowing operations including scheduling snowplowing within 30 minutes during snow season as needed. The position answers to the Road Commissioner and the Selectboard. Requirements: The Road Foreman must have a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License as well as experience in town highway operations or related construction procedures and heavy equipment operation and maintenance. Must possess excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills. Must also have basic computer skills including the ability to type documents and send emails. The Foreman is also responsible for maintaining records and invoices, assisting the Town Administrator in writing highway grants, maintaining records of equipment maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment is safe and operable. Prior supervisory experience is desirable. This position requires and is conditional on satisfactory results from a pre-employment screening for drug and alcohol use as well as a probationary period.
