DESIGN FOR THE DISABLED
IN THIS PROJECT, WE WERE REQUIRED TO DEVELOP A PRODUCT THAT MET THE NEEDS OF THE BLIND, IN WHICH OUR GROUP CHOSE TO REDESIGN THE TOASTER IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE USER FRIENDLY FOR THOSE SUFFERING FROM BLINDNESS.
TOASTER FOR THE BLIND
After creating our soft model we came across a couple issues with the design: - Width and thickness of the base for stability and style - Width of the handle creating obstruction for the withdrawal of the toast - The height of the stands was too high that the stability of the toaster was insuďŹƒcient - The height of the stand was too low this stopped the rotation of the toaster
To overcome these problems : - We widened the base to increase stability - We decreased the width of the handle so it was no longer obstructing the withdrawal of the toast - We adjusted the height of the stand to allow full rotation of the toaster - We made it taller so that the toast did not get stuck between the toaster and the table
