“I choose work that is hard to pull off. And it’s scary how things can go wrong. But if there’s no risk involved, it’s not challenging. A good idea will survive any process.”

MISCELLANEOUS PROJECT VISUALIZATION
Internship & Full-Time Employment
The original David Booth Memorial Stadium was constructed in the early 1920s. The beloved original stadium underwent several additions and renovations before it was ultimately demolished in late 2023 for new construction.
HNTB collaborated with local Kansas City & Lawrence firm Multistudio to deliver a new design for the David Booth Memorial Stadium. The new design for what has affectionately been known as ‘The Booth’ is guided by design principles focused on the waving wheat of Kansas prairies.
I joined the project at the end of Schematic Design after my graduation from KU. My roles on the project included construction documents, construction administration, and assisting in creating renderings for public release.

Upon joining the project at the conclusion of Schematic Design, the stadium was becoming real and required attention to detail. Working under senior architects, I turned my attention to documentation of vertical circulation within the stadium, including stairs, elevators, and escalators.
The development of the stadium design did not come without considerations for key spaces, including several premium locations for stadium patrons. Working with interior designers on the project, I developed renderings to showcase the intent of the interior design on the project.
The Oakland Athletics are one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises, having been founded in Philadelphia in 1901 and relocating two times since: First, to Kansas City, MO in 1954, and then to Oakland, CA in 1968.
In 2023, after negotiations with the city failed to keep the A’s in Oakland, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) & HNTB made a joint bid to design a new ballpark for the A’s in Las Vegas, NV. A’s team owner John Fisher selected BIG & HNTB for the project after a design competition, and thus, a new stadium design was conceived for the Las Vegas Strip.
I joined the project for the Design Development phase and designed elements for the stadium concourses. I also assisted in several packages and renderings for owner John Fisher’s review.

For my fifth and final year at The University of Kansas, Generator Studio in Kansas City hired me as a participant in the KU School of Architecture’s Sports & Entertainment Co-Op. The purpose of the program was to immerse students in Kansas City’s rich history of sports and entertainment architecture, with students joining firms as interns all around the city. At Generator Studio, I primarily assisted with professional renderings for sports, hospitality, and entertainment projects.
Following my internship experience, I brought my polished rendering abilities to HNTB. Here, I created renderings for multiple projects, one of which was a new cooling plant design at Chicago O’Hare airport. While I sat in on critical design discussions, I let these conversations influence the storytelling that my renderings exhibited.
