Service has been rooted in the culture of SHSU for over 100 years. The official motto, a phrase from the short story “The Militants” by Mary Raymond Shipman, was selected to reflect the ideals of President Henry Carr Pritchett and serve as part of a memorial in his memory.

Apply as a freshman if you are in your final year of high school. shsu.edu/admissions

Complete the Online Application for SHSU. Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. shsu.edu/apply

Submit a notarized copy of your Home School Transcript to SHSU. admissions@shsu.edu

Optional Submit Your Test Scores

If you choose to send your test scores, contact the appropriate testing agency to request submission to SHSU. (SAT school code 6643; ACT school code 4162)

Requirements

Home School Diplomas should match Foundations with Endorsement(s) or Distinguished Level of Achievement graduation plans as closely as possible in order to be considered for Automatic Acceptance. If a High School Diploma matches one of the graduation plans mentioned above, then the student is eligible for Automatic Acceptance if the GPA and/or Test Score Minimums shown in the chart below are met. Bearkat Promise

Our Bearkat Promise guarantees all qualifying students recieve grant and scholarship funds to cover the cost of mandatory* tuition and fees for up to 15 credit hours per semester!

*The Bearkat Promise does not cover non-mandatory fees.

Many nonprofit and private organizations offer scholarships to help pay for college. You must be an accepted student to SHSU to apply for scholarships. To review your scholarship eligibility, you must complete the general application in the Scholarships4Kats portal. After you complete your profile, you are automatically considered for all relevant scholarships.
