Living on the Streets of
Beijing
The season I dream to see once more! To be honest I thought the stress, people, and environment themselves would have done away with my life, but I survive once again to continue a road of promising dreams. It has been a tough road this past year, truly one that has broken my intellect to make me reconstruct my thoughts, education, living style and focus. I feel I strayed away from my true goals in life. Although were minor, I felt they made a deep impact in what I was living for. Life itself is a various winding road that has many mysterious, troublesome, yet exciting roads. If taken with caution, expertise and restraint, ones “being, mind and destination” can be carefully directed in which they desire. For me, I kind of let things go astray from what I cared for. Why you ones mind might ask? Its simple, curiosity~
Its Harder When Its You always wants to know the “What if”. Ergo “What if I stood in the middle of the street?” Or “What if I graduated from College with a 4.0?”. Some would say the more dramatic things are the most to plague the mind, such as “ what if I became the president?” Or what if I ask her or he asks me to marry?”, Some could wonder the endless possibilities. But as a progressing professional, the lifestyle I set up for the “now” times could stand for a much longer lifestyle of the future. Therefore, I have slowly regained the old hints of what was previously in my mind for what I wanted to do. Being a small soul such as myself, I have a big ha! Many of my friends heart, and
a big imagination~ ha
would say I am much like a “big kid” but hey, things are, what they are. Losing sight of what reality and what is real to you, makes all the difference. It’s good to dream, but also wonder “would or could those dreams come true?” What do you think the mind is made up of? How much do we as humans use of our minds? 5%? 15%? 30%?…. in any case the real question is the “what if” what if humans used 40% of their minds? What about 75%?? or what about 100% of their brain matter??? Is that possible? The lesson here is keep your mind alive; Without the mind, the body is dead.
It’s Harder When Its You So the chances of you finding the right one is 1 in a million. But when you do find that right one, there always seems to be some small individual fault that’s hidden deep within the relationship that you are not even aware of. You could smile, laugh, cry, even fight. But without talking about it, nothing comes out in the open. Nothing. It’s happening even to me. Hard to believe, but even I have this in my relationship. I think I am doing the right thing, saying the right words, even acting the perfect part. But the second I say something that is congruent to what my loved one thinks, dear God! The world ended and my life explodes into world war III. I don’t perceive it, nor do I have advanced thoughts to say or do these types of things, but when I say or do them I have no unction or understanding why these thing sets my lover off! ? It’s not meant to be as a threat, nor as a terrorist act upon my dear sweet love, but just words, actions that I would say in a normal conversation. Not thinking so much about what I say, just speak; not knowing the
春 天 来 了 .
words I use would be the dagger to my own demise. I try to undo what has been done, to right the wrong, to kiss my way or hug my way back to the happiness that we once had a few seconds ago, but it fails horribly, actually making it worse! She cries, sobs, makes the scene unbearable, my heart wrenches as it desperately tries get the once smiling young lady back to her self. From hugging, to missed attempts of kisses, to pushed away hugs and thousand Island questions, the plans fail, the heart greaves, the once love that was on top of the world is now at the bottom of the ocean swimming in darkness of the cold. It hurts. No matter how she shakes her head says its nothing, its hurts. A burning feeling deep within burns its way to the top of my soul and Pearce’s its way through my chest, spewing its way onto the floor. As she shoves me away it’s the shove of loneliness that I can’t bare. Back to the beginning, back to the beginning I would start all over just to have her back again. Smiling hugging kissing the once loved lover she bludgeoned to death with the feeling of sadness.
学校外边有很多酒吧,ybar,roadhouse, gratto, waldos, the library(firehouse)。 所以,每个人应该喝酒 (shot=1/16th of a glass)很小酒。一 ,二,三。。。。杯 肚。 。子。。

“I was shocked that I won the contest,” said Quaye, who is majoring in graphic design with a minor in Chinese. “I thought I would have placed very low, and I was so nervous at the last minute.”
Chinese speaker
wins
The win is a testament to Quaye’s personal desire to study and master a foreign language. He competed against more than 50 contestants, most of whom were students from the University of Chicago and Northwest University, and took first place in the second-year Chinese level. Contestants were graded based on the fluidity of their speech, the quality of their use of the “four tones of Chinese,” their special skills in Chinese culture, and their overall presentation. Quaye presented his sketch with the help of some Chinese partners and his Chinese calligraphy skills before a panel of 12 judges. “It is also a testament to the international programs and foreign language education at WMU, said Dr. Xioaojun Wang, WMU professor of Chinese language and head of the program, as well as director of the Confucius Institute at WMU. “Our students have been doing extremely well and we are very proud of them. Quinton has proven that when where there is a will, there is away, and practice makes perfect.”
regional competition
Quinton Quaye, a Western Michigan University senior, won first place May 15 at the Midwest Regional Chinese Speaking Contest at Northwest University in Chicago, Ill.
With a smile, Quaye shared a memory that it was a martial arts movie that sparked his desire to learn Chinese. “What first piqued my interest in Chinese culture was the film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,” Quaye said. “I developed a huge crush on one of the movie’s main actors, Zhang Ziyi. I thought she was amazing and so I gave myself a challenge—I would start learning Chinese so one day I would be fluent enough to have a conversation with her.” He decided to purchase a Chinese study book and took it everywhere he went, studying on the go whenever he had a free minute. Quaye admits that after graduating from high Ziyiwould never happen. “But I didn’t school he came
to the realization that meeting Zhang
stop learning the language because by that time it was my second lifestyle,” he said. He planned on attending WMU to major in graphic design and minor in jazz music, but when he discovered that the University offered Chinese as a minor he decided to continue studying the language to determine if his skills were on par with other novices. During the first meeting of his Chinese class at WMU, he was confident in his skills but still unsure of his abilities to demonstrate them in public. When the teacher asked a question, Quaye raised his hand and answered it. When the professor asked another, he raised his hand again, but the teacher didn’t call on him to answer, skipping him, to choose another student instead. “I thought to myself, wow, I must really have a bad way with Chinese and have no clue what is going on,” he said. When the class was over, the professor approached him and asked where he learned the language, believing Quaye’s skills were the best she had heard from an American-born student. She wondered if he was from China. Quaye said that experience encouraged him to pursue fluency in Chinese. In the summer of 2008, Quaye traveled to Beijing, China for a two-week study abroad program. For the summer of 2010, he plans on revisiting Beijing beginning July 7 to attend classes from July 15 to Aug. 25 at the Beijing Culture and Language Center—an intensive study abroad program. “I’m extremely excited and curious as to what I’m going to encounter while I’m there,” Quaye said. “I love Beijing. It’s the biggest city I have been to and the people are wonderful. The food is out of this world and the environment is one that I can easily adapt to.” Quaye said he would like move to China after graduating and incorporate both Chinese and graphic design into his career. I AM VICTORIOUS !!!” The shifting of the feet keeps the blood flowing, the blood keeps the heart
going and the heart going, keeps the body in operation. Every step is a step of victory. Every breath is
a breath of victory. Every swallow is a swallow of pain and agony and defeat and a new strive towards victory. The road looks far, rocky, hot and rugged. Every step feels like glass and sharp stones are dig-
ging and piercing the feet. On top of that the heat makes it even worse. The mentality of victory, keeps the body striving. This body of mine is on the road to victory. Death follows me with a legion of dead
soldiers waiting for my body to drop and collapse as dead, but I wont give up. With the sun beating on my head I cannot give in. The road looks more like water. The heat mixing with the ground and the
elements of the earth cause my eyes to believe there is water all along the ground. Knowing its a mirage my mind stays on track and keeps striving for that mark of victory. Its looking deep, hard, rugged an hot, but I can make it. Its something that everyone should chant to themselves when they feel they are here
on this road.” I won’t give up, I will not give in! This road will not lie with my body on its roadside. I will reach the mark of victory I was intended, and meant to have. Though death walks behind me with his blade of death and his legion army ready, I will not collapse and give in, I will strive and hold on!!
As it rains, it pours out a cold sorrowful feeling that only I can feel. The depth of its sorrow carries with it, is a smooth coat of relaxation. As it hits my skin, it gets absorbed in my pores and seeps into them slowly and painlessly. As it touches my skin, its cold brisk feeling sparks a deep sensation into my brain that shoots out “AMAZING!” each time a raindrop hits the skin. It slowly accumulates, slowly growing in size and later creates a small puddle. The more it grows the more it is unstable. When unstable the rain puddle will slowly fall off the skins surface and onto the ground. As i stand there in the rain, I began to think “the rain, how does it feel? How do you get your temperature? Do you feel pain? Do you cry out, every time you hit an object? What is it that causes you to be rain? Why hit me? Why my skin? Why does your sorrow fall upon me and create sorrow within me? Its not the pale moon that excites me, but the rain that splashes against my skin and seep into my skin like a drug long awaiting its destination. i like rain only yet, i don’t like its sorrow.

ello all! it’s your buddy the Q I just wanted to start this writing before I got to china. I will try to upload the process of what I have done before I get to china. But this is part one of who knows how many . but anyway this past week I had to get my visa for china and I had to go to Chicago to turn in my form and say hello to my visa. But when I got there I was so nervous! My hands were shaking I was sweating and I couldn’t stand still. So I got out of the car and walked up to the doors of the building, only to be told the building had moved three blocks down. LOL I was more comfortable with that. So I started walking and I began to look at all the building that are around. It had been a long time since I had been in a city that had so many big buildings and pretty women all around and cool fashion designs. But I finally walked up to the building after crossing a dangerous street which almost killed me by crazy cars. I walked into the building and got onto the elevator. I pressed the fifth floor button and waited. *Sighs* I am almost there. I got off the elevator and walked towards the Chinese consulate office. When I got there I saw many Chinese people and very few Americans or others than Chinese. I took a number and sat down. When my number was called I mustered up my last bit of strength and stepped forward towards the window to get my visa. When I got to the window I was thinking all will be smooth but I was greeted by a very bitter woman who either had a bad day, hated men , or just didn’t like me. But what did I do to deserve her cruelty? Anyway, I tell her I would like my visa and gave her my forms. She looks at them and says these are not correct you need to have a purpose to china. I didn’t quite understand y she was asking me that but I replied these are what my instructor told me to bring and these are all that I have. She asked me “what is your purpose?”
I
wondered what is she talking about? But she said your purpose is what you are going to do. And I said I will be studying in china for two weeks doing tours. But I guess she didn’t hear me because she kept asking me the same thing “what is your purpose?” I then said I am here to turn in these forms for my class I need to get my visa. She then said that my visa form is wrong and I needed to change what I was doing because I had two things marked. Tourism and study. She said that if I had tourism then I would be OK with the forms but I had study also because its a class as well. And she said if its a study then I would need to have another form from the Chinese school and something else but it didn’t matter to me cause it sounded wrong. But she gave me a form and said come back. I had came two hours from home and you tell me I had the wrong forms? whaaaaa? I got from the building franticly looking for different forms that I may have missed or something. But I came back to ask someone else at the window. As I came in I asked one of the workers at the door if what the lady told me was true? They told me that she gave me a bad form and said she gave me a business form , which I didn’t need and she just was so rough and strong worded. But, I was told by the men at the door who were workers, told me to try the first window with the guy. So, I did. And without a word, the guy took my form, stamped it and asked me to pay the fees. And he did his job. I just hope that her days will be better than that day I came to see her. But, I paid for my visa and now am waiting for my visa to come in and I am all set.
