Black Hereford Ranch’s 19th Annual C R E A M of the C R O P

We would like to invite you to join us in the beautiful, Covid-FREE countryside of Crawford, Oklahoma, for our 19th Cream of the Crop Female and Bull Sale. Where you will find good eatin, Western Oklahoma hospitality,

and if you so choose there are plenty of wide open spaces to practice your social distancing, to study the deepest-in-quality collection you will find anywhere in 2020! This is the most exciting group that we have offered to date. They are a stout set, loaded with the potential to make you money, with all breeds and colors represented in volume. You can rest assured that we are offering you the very best from our 2018 calf crop as well as the tops from our good customers. Whether you’re a veteran in this business or you’re just getting started, there will be something for everyone. Some of you are hunting a very special donor prospect, and you can come expecting that caliber of quality in volume. If you have primarily a spring-calving operation and are not hunting a fall bred, these females are too good to pass up for that reason alone. They can make a great turn on investment by calving these females out this fall and then flushing them a couple times before breeding them back to fit in with the rest of your spring herd. There are many that come looking to buy a group or pot load of AI breds for not much more than good commercial prices. Many of these kind pay for themselves with their first calf and then can be re-sold as three- to five-year-olds to double or triple their purchase price. The cows that are selling are hard to turn loose of. There isn’t a one of them we aren’t regretting selling. The only reason they are being offered is due to the fact that all of them are owned with a partner. If you know me, then you know I would rather dig a ditch with a spoon than sit down and do bookwork. We have collectively decided that we’d like to simplify bookwork every chance we get. With that said, our loss is your gain! There is not a better or quicker way to improve your herd than by investing in a good COC herd bull. This set of bulls are right for the times and from top to bottom are as unique as they come. They are the kind that can and will pay for themselves with one good calf. They will produce valuable replacement females that you can build an entire cow herd around and upgrade your program immensely. We have confidence that several of these could be promoted for semen sales with success, and we will use our resources to help make that happen. COC bulls have laid the foundation in this way to become some of the nation’s leaders in semen sales for our customers. The potential is here waiting for you! We offer you, our valued customers, the opportunity to send us your top calves, and we will grow them to their most valuable potential while marketing them through our various Cream of the Crop sales. Many have had great success with this service that we offer to all of our customers. We are very proud that some of the most elite, progressive club calf outfits in the country keep coming back to invest in our COC genetics. Our goal is to produce good looking, deep, wide bodied, sound cattle that are trouble free. We have personally sold over 30 Grand or Reserve Grands at the toughest shows in Texas, Oklahoma and multiple other states, including 12 at Houston alone. I would like to thank my family and employees for the long, dedicated hours of extra hard work that they put in to keep this production rolling. Without them, we could not make this unique event happen, much less for coming on two decades. Last and most importantly, we have a new addition to the crew, Rheal Zel Roberts, our first grand baby. Everyone who told me that I needed one was right — we wouldn’t trade her!

BLACK Hereford Ranch

We believe that there is no better way to bust out of quarantine than to come to a good cow sale! Thank you for your continued interest in and support of our program,

e c n i S 8 7 9 1 “This has been our livelihood for 42 years.”

When Kris was in the first grade, his grandfather Frank “Shorty” Gilliland gave him a purebred Polled Hereford heifer. Kris kept the females as replacements, and by the time he graduated from high school, he had a small group of cows that were the original foundation of what is now Black Hereford Ranch. Shorty’s family homesteaded the acreage that was previously the Gilliland Hereford Ranch for G.L. and Shorty Gilliland. One of the original homes still remains in use today as a ranch house. Neighbors tell stories of helping Shorty load his tack and cattle onto train cars, riding with the cattle, traveling to shows as far off as the World Beef Expo in Kentucky. They put on a number of Polled Hereford production sales over the years. Unfortunately, due to health reasons Shorty had to disperse most of his cow herd. The year Kris graduated, Shorty had a stroke that left him handicapped. Kris put a halt to college plans and moved to Crawford to work for Shorty until his passing a few years later.

4

Black Hereford Ranch’s 19th Annual C R E A M of the C R O P

Kris began outcrossing Herefords and keeping heifers to build his cow herd. Two years later, he had a Houston Champion Hereford followed by a Tulsa Reserve Grand Champion Steer with a Hereford. He continued to add color to his crop, and in 1993 he had a black baldy that was Reserve Grand at Houston, raised by our late friend Frank Johnson. In 1994, Frank bought a Power Plant cow and called Kris to ask what to breed her to…a year later, Habanero was born. He was our first to break the $20,000 barrier, and 26 years later he is still making a direct impact. Kris knows the ups and downs to starting out in this business and has thoroughly enjoyed helping people from all different backgrounds lay their foundation to a successful career in an industry that has been his main focus for more than four decades.

We are very proud that some of the most elite and progressive club calf outfits in the country keep coming back to invest in our COC genetics!

2020 Fort Worth Class 1 Champion Steer Congratulations to Tyler Allaun on taking this COC steer to his potential! Many thanks to the John Scales Family for their help and management of this standout. Hats off to Jerry and Taylor Roberts for raising this top and bottom COC-bred champ and for allowing us to market him!

2020 Fort Worth Grand Champion Steer We would like to personally congratulate Ryder and the entire Day Family on an unprecedented win of a lifetime! It is one thing to win, but there is something even sweeter about RAISING YOUR OWN CHAMPION! The Day boys have been long time customers that we are proud to do business with. Many years ago, they purchased this steer’s grandmother as a $3,500 COC 30-06 open heifer. She has been a prolific donor within their program, with her first flush alone grossing $50,000. She has produced so many hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue that they have lost track of her earnings record. P254 has produced champions at all of the Texas majors and has even been cloned. The Days have also been volume buyers of COC Made Right semen and have taken his genetics to great heights, selling many champions and high sellers sired by him and his daughters. However, the one that has recently received all the accolades was a cross of the two COC greats — Made Right x P254, who is the mother of the 2020 Fort Worth Grand. We’ve run this steer’s pedigree back 40 years to Mr. Incredible (AHA 17957073), just for family fun. It is truly amazing how far this industry has come! We are overwhelmingly humbled and proud that this champion was stacked top and bottom with many COC legends, such as Made Right, Donor P254, Carpe Diem, 4114 Made, Wasp, 30-06, Donor 9929, 4114, Dakota, Tank, Timex, Cannon, 351, Tequila and probably more than we kept track of. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that there’s never enough room or space to give everyone the credit that they deserve. (Please bear with our aging minds if we have missed anyone.) Please join us in giving due praise to some very talented, longterm Cream of the Crop customers, breeders and friends for having an invested interest in this champion: The Day Family, Stan and Weston Born, Tee Knox, Curtis Graf, Mike Mimms, Kelly Munson, Bradley Hale, Gerald Haseloff, Bill Taylor, Donnie Begalka, Kent Orrell, Korky Wise and (last but definitely not least) Brad Hook… all for doing your part to achieve things most deemed impossible!

2020 SandHills Reserve Grand Champion Steer Congratulations to the Patschke Family on your COC Battleship-sired champion! Congratulations and many thanks to Bradley Hale for breeding to COC Battleship with big results, including this champion, the San Antonio Champion Simmental and the San Antonio Reserve Hereford!

2020 San Antonio Champion Angus Steer Congratulations to Jett Hale for taking this bargain bin, born and raised, top and bottom COC-bred steer all the way! Many thanks for your continued trust, support and help with our program.

2020 Fort Worth Reserve Grand Champion Steer We want to congratulate our friends The Thomas Family on a win that’s been long overdue in our books! We knew when you bought your first steer from us years ago that y’all went against the grain and were destined for greatness. Way to go out with a bang! Congratulations and hats off to our customers The Beach and Waldrip boys of Open Bar Cattle Co. for raising this powerhouse! He had in his pedigree COC greats Made Right, Carpe Diem and Outer Limits. Thank y’all for your continuous support and trusting in COC genetics!

2020 San Antonio Reserve Champion Simmental Steer Congratulations to Mason Smith on your double-bred COC champion! Thank you to Wade Shackelford for placing and managing this standout. Congratulations and many thanks to Lance LaBouve for being a COC poster child. This steer was sired by COC Free Bird and out of a COC female purchase. Thank you, Lance, for trusting in the program and for allowing us to market him for you!

Black Hereford Ranch’s 19th Annual C R E A M of the C R O P

| SALE CATTLE PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRAD HOOK

CREAM OF THE CROP SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS SALE TERMS Terms of the sale are cash, check or wire transfer payable to Black Hereford Ranch at the conclusion of the auction. Animals are not to leave until paid for in full. Printed information on the sale day supplement takes precedence over printed information in this catalog and other advertising. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over all printed material for this sale. All animals will be sold by lot number from the auction block. Every effort has been made to assure accuracy and information that is quoted concerning the animals is taken from their respective breeder’s records.

RETAINED INTEREST IN FEMALES Black Hereford Ranch RETAINS THE RIGHTS TO PARTNER ON TWO SUCCESSFUL FLUSHES ON ALL COC FEMALES. A successful flush is defined as producing at least eight eggs per partner. If you sell the female to anyone else, Black Hereford Ranch still retains our right to partner on two successful flushes. If a buyer is not interested in flushing the female, then Black Hereford Ranch reserves the right to two successful flushes on the female at our cost and the buyer’s convenience within a timely manner.

FEMALE BREEDING GUARANTEE Safe in calf females have been examined by our veterinarians. All females declared safe in calf have a projected calving date or date range in this catalog or on the sale day supplement. All projected due dates are best estimates only and not guaranteed. Please remember that it is normal to give birth throughout the two weeks either side of their projected due date. If a pregnant female proves to be open by a licensed veterinarian within 45 days of this sale and is returned to the seller within 60 days, the buyer may choose between a full credit refund or may choose to keep the female with a $600 adjustment.

PROTECTING YOUR INVESTMENT We did our best to use the best low birth weight sires available on these heifers. We don’t have many calving problems, but we check them every three to four hours around the clock close to due dates. After they leave our operation, we have no control, and their livelihood is now your ownership. We highly recommend you take out insurance on your purchases. This is a safe way to protect your investment on both females and bulls.

RETAINED INTEREST IN BULLS Ownership: Unless otherwise stated in the catalog, we are selling full possession, full salvage value and 2/3 revenue sharing semen interest. This means the bull is totally in your control as to how you want to handle him, as well as 100% of the salvage value of the bull. We are retaining 1/3 revenue-sharing semen interest. This simply gives us the right to 1/3 of the semen sales revenue from the bull, if at some time in the future semen sales become a possibility. If you sell the bull to anyone else, Black Hereford Ranch retains our semen interest and revenue sales. If a buyer is not interested in marketing the semen from a bull, then Black Hereford Ranch reserves the right to collect a semen bank on the bull at our cost and the buyer’s convenience within a timely manner. That semen would be 100% owned by Black Hereford Ranch for our use or marketing. Realistically speaking, the reason Black Hereford Ranch retains an interest in every bull is that we want to keep it simple, and we have great bulls throughout the offering. The bulls that do develop a market for larger amounts of semen can be very financially rewarding; therefore, as a breeder of some of the best seed stock in the industry, we want to share with you in these bulls. Even bulls that aren’t originally promoted can become popular at a later time, especially after calf crops prove successful. We want to be a great partner with you. Semen Rights: Buyers receive semen rights proportionally to the interest that is purchased. A 1/3 semen interest and 1/3 of all semen sales is retained on all bulls unless otherwise stated in the catalog or supplement sheet or announced from the block the day of the sale. Therefore, if you purchase 2/3 revenue sharing semen interest, you are entitled to 2/3 of the collection semen cost, provided that you indicate that you want semen prior to collection. Future semen collections must be made known to all owners prior to collecting. The collections and cost will be divided according to each owner’s interest, unless otherwise agreed upon mutually by all owners prior to collection of semen.

BULL BREEDING GUARANTEE All bulls in this offering have been fertility and trichomoniasis tested by our veterinarians by Scott Sturgeon, D.V.M. and are guaranteed to be breeders, with the exception of a) injury or disease occurring after the time of sale; or b) gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. Any bull that settles cows by natural service is considered a breeder.

ALL PERSONS WHO ATTEND THE SALE DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK. NEITHER BLACK HEREFORD RANCH NOR ANY OTHER PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH THE SALE ASSUMES LIABILITY, LEGAL OR OTHERWISE, FOR ACCIDENTS OR LOSS OF PROPERTY.

COC Easy Street highlighted our fall 2012 sale to Davis Cattle Co. We confidently breed heifers to him due to his track record. Easy Street has been the most consistent calving-ease bull we have ever used, of any color. His progeny are easily marketable with eye appeal without sacrificing calving ease. We have sold his calves in the $3,000 to $10,000 range that were all born unassisted out of first-calf heifers.

No sire in the Hereford breed can match his proven combination of calving ease, maternal traits and carcass quality. A maternal machine, ranking in the top 10 of all high accuracy sires for Teat and Udder EPDs. Daughters are moderate, big ribbed and easy fleshing with fantastic udders without sacrificing carcass traits. A 14-star Trait Leader, ranking in the top 5% or better in 12 EPD traits and $Indexes. He is deceased with limited semen available.

COC Registered Angus & Red Angus bulls

Every year there are many calves sired by our heifer clean up bulls, and every year we have many success stories sent to us from extremely pleased customers. Our LBW registered Angus and Red Angus heifer clean up bulls are not just your run of the mill LBW Angus bulls. We research high and low for good lookin, high CED/low BW EPD bulls, and they’re far from easy to come by. The ones we select have been large investment pieces, but they pay off immensely with their results. There will be several show steers sold out of this set of bred heifers, and the heifer calves will make good quality replacements that you will be proud to keep.

As we were processing heats on 400+ heifers last fall, we were breeding and 24 hours later kicking them with our real nice clean up bulls. We AI’d on them for five days and then kicked the remainder of them all with our Angus and Red Angus bulls, regardless of color. The Herefords were with two real good looking low birth weight Hereford bulls for 30 days, one cycle, then were placed with Angus and Red Angus bulls. Unless stated otherwise in the catalog, they remained with these bulls until they were sorted to their listed herd sire groups.

We get told frequently, “Y’all need to raise another Made Right.” We usually chuckle as we remind them that we need an outcross for all of the Made Right daughters we have collected over the years. Easy Jett’s namesake speaks magnitudes of how high we are on his potential. Walter Merrick produced a racehorse that was far ahead of his time in 1967 who, like our Easy Jett, is also a Crawford, Okla., native. Merrick sent him out of 26 starting gates as a twoyear-old and came out of 22 victorious within his first career year, including the All-American. The next year he was the Champion Racing Stallion of the Year and was sold for $3.5 million and then syndicated for $300 million in the early 80s. He put Crawford, Okla., on the map. COC Easy Jett was born unassisted to a dang nice first-calf heifer in 2014, whose second crop produced our high selling Highway 33, and she has produced a phenomenal set of females since. Donor 1685 has been a no-miss profit maker that undeniably passes that trait on heavily. Half-interest in Easy Jett sold in our 2015 Bull Sale to Bradley and Jett Hale of Miami, Texas. Bradley and Kris both AI’d, flushed and cleaned up cows with him that fall and spring with confidence. Easy Jett’s first calf crop of steers laid the foundation of everything we expected and then some. Every single Easy Jett steer we sold that spring, except for one, branded at a Texas major. Even on a minimal calf crop, he produced the SandHills Champion Polled and sired three of the four Hereford champions at Fort Worth in 2019. His daughters are nothing short of phenomenal and lead off our 2020 sale catalog. Unfortunately, in the spring of 2017, Easy Jett sustained an injury that most vets chalked up as a complete loss, but Dr. Gary Warner and his team of specialists at Elgin, Texas, took it head on. We are very fortunate to have him back in our lineup, but due to recovery, Easy Jett has not been able to produce semen as often. Until banks are restored, we are still not releasing semen to the open public market. 150 units will be the only semen available on the market, through this sale on Saturday, June 13th. He has matured into one stout, massive bodied phenomenon. Never have we ever had a sire group this deep, this quick, not even when the winningest Hereford show steer sire of all time, Made Right, who has been in the record books for 18 years, was in his prime production.

complete /kəm-ˈplēt/ (adjective): having all the necessary or appropriate parts. (verb): make (something) whole or perfect.

Her mother was an incredible full sister to Carpe Diem and to Lot 27’s mother; unfortunately, she was injured after we bred her for our 2013 sale and did not ever fully recuperate. “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.” Lot 1 has the eye appeal, the silhouette and the genetic credentials to become the next elite donor in any pen you put her in. She is graceful from the ground up, balanced from head to tail with a monumental hip and generous amounts of middle, and she is truly exquisite throughout her front end. She stepped into the camera frame with true ease and was comfortable that that is where she belonged. She is a hair different than what we usually lead off the front of this book with in that she is best defined as “complete.” She is not the freak. She is not the whale. She is not the curve ball, the breaking ball or the fast ball. She is the easy pitch, right down the middle that is a no-miss, knock-it-out-of-the-park pitch. The comfort zone. Go have fun with one that you can count on and look forward to for years to come. She’s like the ones that so many greats in the Hereford industry have loaded out of our pens and landed themselves in the Hall of Fame with. See you June 13th!

Throw this one to the wolves, and she’ll come back wearing a fur coat. You could color Lot 2 any color under the sun, throw her in with the best of them and she will come out on top. This is far from your typical Hereford, but she wasn’t intended to be. We knew when we laid eyes on her mother that we couldn’t get her bred to Easy Jett fast enough. She was our 2017 $15,000 TH-free Lot 278, who cherry picked only the finest attributes that her sire has to offer and then ran with them. This daughter followed suit and did the same on both ends of the pendulum and then upped the ante. Starting with a massive foundation from the ground up with extreme amounts of power and capacity, all within an athletic structure that reaches out and treks turf effortlessly. She is textbook for the times with ideal size, supreme muscle, precisely marked, cookie cutter necked, and she had phenomenal hair for being THF. The sky is the limit! She is the kind you can build a program around one flush at a time.

Battleship Battle Cry by Made Right x Kut Above

Daughters sell as Lots 27–30 & 33–42; sons sell as Lots 325 & 326

We were very high on one of the best Hereford bull prospects to ever step foot on our place. Battleship was sired by the $76,000 Made Right son Battle Cry and out of a darn good Kut Above daughter at Larry Kieschnick’s. We liked Battleship enough that we purchased half interest from Kieschnick and put him straight to work. His first calf crop proved his worth and far exceeded our expectations. Bradley Hale only got one cane of Battleship semen and produced the State Fair of Texas Champion Red Cross Prospect, two more that were Oklahoma Beef Expo Champion, Battle of the Cattle Champion, A&M’s Saddle & Sirloin Champion, Odessa Reserve Grand Overall, San Antonio Reserve Hereford and San Antonio Champion Simmi, along with others that have been at the top. We sold a son and a full brother that Kieschnick raised at the Main Event Sale last spring that shined. The full brother was the 2019 Dallas Prospect Champion Hereford, shown by the Stephens family. The son won both rings at the Belt Buckle Bonanza, two of the three rings at the North Texas State Fair and was Reserve Polled in both rings at the TJLA Camp Show for the Chambers family. His first set of daughters are being offered in this sale, and they will only fan his flame higher. Battleship built up a lot of steam in a short amount of time; however, we are sad to say that we lost him last summer, with a limited semen bank on hand. We feel that the best way to market what little we have on a great bull is through our COC sales and put him along with the greats we have done this with in the past, like Troubadour, Made Right and Easy Jett. This will be the only semen available to the public this spring. We will be offering 30 units in lots of three to the public, live across the block on June 13th, along with his sons and daughters.

“What’s that ‘C.Up?’ ” When we get into our later-born calves that are sired by our clean up bulls, the best we can do is put “C.Up” in the top of their tag. Every year we have several guys who come early and ask, “What’s that C.Up bull? Those calves look good!” That’s because these aren’t your average turn out bulls. Our AI sires don’t live at the bull stud and go to work twice a week —we use them and put them to the test. COC Hoss is our $40,000 Troubadour son that we own with Dr. Dave Duello. We had our first set of Hoss calves in the fall of 2017, and wow…they are impressive! COC Double Wide has been a big enough hit over the years that he has his own division of females in the HooDoo section of this catalog. No Man’s Land is the PB maternal brother to COC Renegade and the $25,000 half interest COC Sue out of Donor 5088; there is an entire division devoted to this cow family, and this bull marches to the same drum. We even had greats like 1039, the full brother to Made Right and COC Battleship, who has sired as many Hereford champions and high sellers in the last year as any! If we were to guess what each of these heifers is sired by from this group, we’d probably be lyin to you, because every one of these bulls is fully capable of raising the kind that will take your program to the next level.

Donor 5088 (Dam or granddam of Lots 95–104) Donor 5088, Sue Donor 51, Renegade and all the sisters... There is no denying that the power of Donor 5088 keeps getting sweeter with time, generation after generation. She was hands down one of the best lookin HooDoos to ever come out of Cody, Wyoming. HooDoo Ranch Manager George Brown only let Kris pick one out of their spring bred heifer pen, and what is now our Donor 5088 was his choice. She was Kris’s No. 1 pick of 1,600 bred PB heifers at the HooDoo Ranch in 2006 and is still a standout of the 20,000 we were privileged enough to hand sort through over the years there. She herself has produced “the ones” more than once, and even the ones that weren’t the bell ringers sale day have year in and year out flat outdone themselves. Fact 2: Troubadour daughters are some of our greatest producers and are going to become harder and harder to find, as he is deceased and the semen bank is depleted. When you cross rare breeding pieces like these, you get bulls like Renegade and females like the $25,000 half interest COC Sue and their sisters. Nine units of Troubadour semen sells as an avenue for you to flush and RAISE YOUR OWN CHAMPIONS!

A way cool necked, up headed, big stout square hipped product of a mixed flush between The General and COC Movin Ahead. Her mother was a 2014 COC sale highlight when half interest sold to Enlow. We sold her granddam, Donor 159 (a full sister to Silver Bullet), as a bred heifer for $10,000 to Kroupa and Boysel, and as of 2014, she had produced over $250,000. Donor 159 is also the mother of Grey Goose, True Grit and several other promotional bulls. She also produced a Grand Champion Steer at the Illinois State Fair. Genetic potential lined up for generations with this one!

Clean by pedigree, neat necked, sound movin, big bodied and square. Her mother is sired by the heavily promoted Exit 174, a COC Yellow Jacket son, and is backed by a true legend, Donor 9970, Troubadour’s granddam. Troubadour

Lead On x Donor 410 (WG x Donor 9970)

Troubadour has proven time and time again to make tremendous sons and daughters—the kind we are all striving to produce. He is deceased, and very little semen still exists on him. As you will see in the following pages, his progeny are some of the very best champion producers that you will find anywhere. He consistently stamps them with unmistakable class and style. His sons have proven to take the heat as champion caliber show steers and bulls that produce the kind that make people want to get in this business. Troubadour is backed by a cow family that is second to none, and they have produced full sisters and brothers to Troubadour that have raised the bar on prolific operations all over the country. His dam, Donor 410, has produced hundreds of thousands in sales that we have not kept up with. Troubadour’s granddam, Donor 9970, would have been 20 years old this spring. It is hard to match their production abilities. A Free Bird (full brother to Troubadour) daughter was Brandon Bird’s high seller in the 2019 Donors Unlimited Sale at $25,000. He also produced the San Antonio Reserve Simmi this spring for Lance LaBouve. Three of the first four lots in the 2019 Share The Brand Sale were Troubadour bred for a reason…they keep getting the job done. It is never surprising when you go look at someone’s cattle, or that picture that catches your eye, how many root back to this cow family Members of this family have been a driving force for years in this industry and have made irreplaceable producers; the ones to come after them are as predictable as they get. This line of genetics defines “potent” and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. PLUS we are offering you a chance that may not ever happen again — we are selling enough semen to flush with to help you RAISE YOUR OWN CHAMPIONS!

Here’s a blast from the past! COC Habanero would be 26 years old this fall, and we think enough of him that we have gone back to flushing some of our best to him. He defines “standing the test of time.” This 3/4 Maine earned his stage not only in Crawford but nationwide. He is used for his consistent ability to sire Maine-influenced cattle with extra bone and hair. Habanero cattle have added style and a look that sets them apart from the rest. Habanero has sired champions and class winners in the Maine circles and sired the 1999 Houston Grand, shown by the K-SIS/Woodley crew out of a COC dam (that cow also had the Houston Champion AOB sired by COC Bazooka! Many congrats to a great family for puttin our genetics to work), 1999 Illinois State Fair Grand, 1999 Wyoming State Fair, 2000 Houston Grand Carcass Steer, Goal Post Classic Grand Heifer, 2003 Houston Grand and a $29,000 steer for Kris Black. He sired COC LifeLine and is the grandsire of COC Yellow Jacket. If you start studying the bottom side of pedigrees of some of the most influential, consistent females across the country, you will very often find Habanero. He knows how to make foundation females. For instance, Goretska 805, who has produced so many over the last few years, including highlights such as Loaded for Bear and One in the Chamber, Here I Am, Honest Abe and many more. He also sired the dams of promotional bulls such as Walk This Way, March Madness, and too many more that we didn’t keep track of over the years. Just a few short years ago, he had a daughter that produced the Grand Steer at Oklahoma City. He’s stood the test of time, and his daughters and granddaughters are a testament to that.

Freak hipped and necked, huge ribbed, good muscled, sound and definitely not sawed off! She has good size to her and was our top pick of the late, great, legendary cattleman Elroy Dietz and Olson’s last earthly club calf sale together.

Sound, deep, stout, wide, good boned, white/pink nosed and backed by cow power. Her mother knows how to get the job done! She has produced several featured sale lots that are ones to be proud of. She is a 3/4 sister to Donor 1139, Trump’s mother. We don’t ever believe a lil Lifeline (Yellow Jacket’s sire) in the mix slows any trains down!

Donor 1139 & COC Trump (Lots 198 & 199) We can’t brag on Donor 1139 enough! She has been nothing short of phenomenal. She is a no-miss that is over the $100,000 mark in production early on in her career. She is the dam of the $52,500 COC Trump, whom Dietz–Olson, Phil Lautner and Harlan Yocham added to their star-studded lineup, and we are honored by their repeat confidence in our program. Trump’s full sibs have been in high demand, including an outstanding $29,500 steer and two breds that raked in $22,000 in our 2018 sale and two more in 2019 that upped the ante $25,000. Donor 1139 has that killer look that you pick out of the group from the road, the same she did as a bred heifer when Phillip Renner picked her out through our COC sale with the goal to raise his grandkids nothing but the best. She is out of a whale of a purebred Charolais cow that produced the $25,000 registered Charolais promo bull called “Denver.”

COC Taz Gnaw on this thought for a moment…. Taz sired Heat Wave’s dam. Our Taz daughters are phenomenal producers, but think of what all that Taz daughter deserves credit for. We see a lot of guys in this business only studying the top side of pedigrees, only referencing parts of pedigrees for shorthand, but as we all realistically know, there’s a lot of power steering on the bottom side of pedigrees, and there ain’t one of us that would be here today without the power of a mother. Without that good Taz cow, would there be a Heat Wave? Without a Heat Wave, would there be a Monopoly or the hundreds of other sons? We all need to credit the cow families that get the job done and have made this industry what it is today. Our success stories are filled with customers who have received our catalog, studied it and then taken home exceptional bred females that make our customers a profit.

Donor 9730 is backed by two of our all-time greatest cow families: Troubadour’s cow family on top and the 9730 Taz cow family on bottom. She has collectively produced who knows how much for ourselves as well as top programs like Mimms, Parker and several others through this sale.

COC Parker Donor 205 “Our Red Man-sired calves, particularly heifers, have been some of the best we have produced in the last couple of years.” — Charlie Parker. So, Parker tried him on his best producers, like this one’s dam. She produced an $18,000 COC steer, an $18,500 bull sired by Solid Gold sold in the 2015 COC Bull Sale and several others. This WG daughter is a previous COC high seller herself and a paternal sister to COC Donor 410, Troubadour’s dam.

They are some of the best producing and most sought after females in the business.

You can wear a set of tires out trying to find a red THC bull with his perfect frame size, power and athleticism. How long has it been since a late October-born steer was in the hunt weighing 1400 lbs. at San Antonio, like his brother was this year? There’s something to this mating that you better not overlook.

We’ve had quite a few successful, high selling and big time producing full sibs to Troubadour. This bull is out of a great one and is bred identically to the over $175,000-valued Denver display promotional bull Rock Star. The powerline genetics this cow family stems from are a force to be reckoned with. This bull is cherry red, real good muscled, has plenty of depth and dimension and has all the looks. He also has the power and the added frame we’ve all been waiting for!

About as unique of a piece as you will come across this season! This is a maternal brother to COC Light Em Up out of a wonderful, extremely consistent Simbrah donor that we acquired out of Doc Warner’s dispersal. He is sired by COC Turnkey, who brought $10,000 as a weaned bull prospect to Lehne Farms. Turnkey is loaded with pedigree for generations. He goes back to our great Donor 524, and then his mother is out of Troubadour’s sire and Troubadour’s granddam. This cherry red has plenty of character and is super stout with tremendous foot and bone for how powerful he is. He is huge middled and has a back you can land a plane on.

Powerfully constructed and moves like a cat. He has massive amounts of muscle, rib, hip and top and is neat necked. His outstanding Troubadour-sired dam has produced bumper crop after bumper crop for our late friend and partner Phillip Renner, who purchased her to help support his kids’ and grandkids’ interest in Raising Their Own Champions! Her cow power has paved the way! She produced the $52,500 COC Trump to Dietz–Olson, Lautner and Yocham. This son makes his momma’s torch even brighter, as he had the hair to sire the right kind and has the build to send em south and be highly competitive.

Private Treaty Offering Due to the popularity of the private treaty bulls and females the last two years, we are including some again for 2020. There are close to 55 BRED HEIFERS that we feel are not quite ready to sell yet. They need 60 more days of maturity, groceries and TLC to catch up with the rest of the offering, but since you’re already in Crawford, we are going to save you the trip and offer them to you private treaty. These heifers were with the group of sale heifers until we brought them home mid-May. The same great LBW AI and herd sires were used on them as the ones going through the sale ring. These females will be located here on the ranch for your viewing convenience, along with printed information on each of them. They will be priced from $1,400 to $3,000. They will make you money, whether you keep them for 60 days to resell, or if you calve them out and reap the rewards of good COC females in your herd. We always advise you to come early, stay late and do your homework. You will find many customers who have done just that and can attest that there are bargains throughout the entirety of the offering! We will also have 20 HEAD OF 20- TO 30-MONTH-OLD HERD BULLS for sale private treaty. All different colors, breeds and ready for service! They have all passed a thorough semen and trich evaluation.
