Codes and conventions of album artwork Focused genre: Folk/Acous1c

The yellow colour tone connotes a posi1ve, happy feel to the audience. This matches the music genre. The sketched image also shows that the acous1c ar1st is very individual, and the music style is v e r y s o ? . I n o 1 c e d a c o m m o n conven1on of folk is that the text is placed in a very ar1s1c way. This contrasts from (for example) pop album covers which have the common text of the ar1st in a larger font along the top or in the middle.

This artwork uses colour tones to connote the calm feel to the audience. Whereas the previous image uses an obvious image of an acous1c guitar, this album cover uses curved, easy shapes to portray the correct feeling to the audience. The text is printed in two places to add to the ar1s1c side of the artwork. This matches the music genre.

This artwork is drawn in a pencil sketched style, this connotes a individual style, and portrays that the ar1st is unknown. I think this is done to make the audience feel as if they are the first person to discover the ar1st. The text does not follow the common conven1ons of folk genre album covers, however, the pencil sketch font does make it successful.

This is very similar to the album artwork (seen above) in the way that the image is printed in a pencil sketch style. Again, this portrays an indie feel to the audience. The text used in this image is printed to look like a signature, done to portray individuality.
