The original Cafe Racers were motorcycles modified for speed and good handling and were raced from cafes on the British motorways. Chifely ridden by the ‘Rockers’ subculture, these iconic bikes are distinctive with their stripped back, utalitarian features as well as being built for speed and agility. The Air Powered Cafe Racer will combine the same aspects of the original with the ecofriendly Engine Air engine.

The geometry of the Cafe Racer mimics that of the Grand Prix bikes of that era, with body work and controls set up for speed and good handling rather than comfort. The motorcycle should be lean and light and handle road surfaces well. The rake angle should be lower for better handling.

The riding position of the Cafe racer is similar to that of a racing bike, with the clip on handle bars and rear set footrests the riders body is more streamlined and aerodynamic, however this position is uncomfortable for longer rides. The riders legs are higher for greater ground clearance when cornering. As the handles and footrests are adjustable, changes can be made to accomodate various sized riders on the same bike.
