How to Respond to An Interview Invitation Via E-mail

So your application is selected, the CV you worked so hard to customise, got their attention. Your cover letter spoke your mind, and now it’s time for the next important steps. But before you send a reply in haste, you need to know about some essential interview related things. It’s not about practicing any mock interview or so, but about the specific details, you need before you step foot ahead. Who or what or where and when; for the how-long type of details. You must know the following as well: How long would the interview carry on? This is significant if you’re finding time out of your current job for a couple of hours to give an interview. Whom to meet with. Because you can do some research beyond company stats, mission, and market rankings. It might

help you to sense the background of the people who would take your interview and know what skills they brought to the organization. What you need or have reached to. Are they looking for a face to face conversation, or a presentation is good, and even if they don’t ask for the latter, if you wish to go beyond, you must know what technology is available to you. Here is an adaptation of a sample letter by Sunil Sinha, a Senior Consultant at CRBtech: Hi Susan, Great to hear from you! I hope your week is going well. Unbelievable, it is already Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to coming to the R&J office and meet some of the team members. Based on the mention of the dates, my availability is as follows: anytime after 12 PM on September 14th and throughout the day until about 4:30 PM on the 18th. A few questions I have: 1) How much time do you think we’ll have together? 2) Will I have any access to technology for a presentation to showcase my work? 3) Could you please tell me whom I’ll be meeting with, and how much time I’ll have with each person or if it is a group interview? Thanks so much for reaching out and coordinating all of this. I hope you have a good rest of the week and a lovely weekend! Best, Sunil
