Writing Tips For Entry Level Job Seekers

In a recent survey by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas found that most entry-level job seekers have to be better writers. Today at career advice, we shall discuss how entry-level job seekers could create more advantages for themselves to earn a new job. An article stated that nowadays some young employees are guilty that they write company email as if they were texting phone messages. There is noticeable lack of proper grammar and etiquette in several emails. So here we share some tips inspired by the book, Getting from College to Career, on emailing like a professional: DNUCAPE, or, Do Not Use Cute Acronyms in Professional Emails. You don’t know if people are familiar with those abbreviations as you are.


Proper usage of capital letters and punctuation. Some have the habit of writing everything is small letters and a few writes in only capital letters. Either is unacceptable, you have to use proper use of proper nouns. Be specific with exclamation marks! Young people use too many exclamation marks. Making use of two is more than enough in a single email. Do not leave the subject line blank. Even exact words should be written such that from the subject line people u78inderstand the gist of the email. Do not use the word “Urgent.” Use the red “high importance” exclamation point only when it is significant. Sending in your CV or asking for an informational interview is no ways urgent to the person receiving that email. Be sure about spelling check. Review the recipient’s name for spelling, the correctness of any important numbers you’ve mentioned, and the overall message tone. Hope these tips would be useful to you.
