As a photographically trained Multimedia professional from the press and editorial sector, the position advertised is a perfect fit for my strong technical experience. I believe my perspective as a marketing and digital media freelancer gives me the edge and experience to organise projects that deliver strategic, ahead of the curve and innovative digital media solutions and advertising to clients in the varied sectors that Idenna trades. Topgear.com has 4 million+ unique users every month and had half a billion page views in the last year. Developing interactive media for a website with such a vast audience and that also pleases regulatory bodies within the BBC presents a tough challenge that I have thrived with. It has given me experience in making sure the best solution is found for all parties involved in a project. Working for such a successful editorial publication has given me the opportunity to also learn an extremely successful language of design, writing and strategy of communication with content receivers to aid expansion of brands in editorial and commercial sectors.

I was mentored by David White; a multi-skilled multimedia professional and lecturer on the Falmouth University Press & Editorial Photography course. He is a true example of employing the skillset of storytelling into business. I have learnt from him, clients and employers that business in the digital world relies on storytelling in the modern environment. I feel as a clear and experienced practitioner in a variety of fields that I can clearly communicate the importance of Idenna’s digital media services to the varied clients Idenna manages. I am comfortable with rapid, high pressure environments and I thrive on an intense workload which I understand will be the goal for Idenna over the next few years of expansion after its recent merger. I am confident that I can deliver high quality projects in all the sectors that Idenna deals in whilst executing the skills highlighted on the next page for clients and company colleagues alike.

torytelling is a natural form of communication in all walks of life, but understanding how to edit stories in multiple forms is incredibly important. I have learnt that focusing on the success of a brand based on extensive research and a developed and considered understanding is the most important thing for a creative consultant. For my dissertation during my degree I endeavored to decipher the formula to TopGear Magazine before developing my own magazine to illustrate my skillset. I broke down sales figures through research, strengths through focus groups and design language through my own analysis. It paid off as within 6 months I had opportunities with Auto Express, Evo and TopGear Magazine. I currently work for BBC TopGear as a Picture Editor and I used my research to obtain this creative position for the simple reason that I recognise how important business understanding, precise editing and proactive research matters when securing clients and projects. I give every project my complete support and devoted attention. I am happy to work weekends and spend my own time researching and planning projects to make sure that I can deliver the perfect story for clients alongside Idenna colleagues. My skillset is varied and I can work with all departments in the Idenna office with understanding and experience to aid with projects as Idenna moves forward. I am proficient with photography, videography, graphic design, web maintenance, marketing and PR.

The most important aspect of growing a client base is research. If successful with this application I will devote my initial time at Idenna to thoroughly understanding current clients and researching their needs to move Idennas work in a continued evolution to incredibly consistent high quality work. I will evaluate the market and the most successful projects so far and focus on creating future growth at Idenna through precise and efficient advertising campaigns for clients with easily understandable results for continued business.
Step two will involve the team at Idenna using an initial brainstorm. Developing the project and ideas over a short period of time creating a few options for the client so that we can produce the product efficiently whilst remaining in control of the creative process later on.
Once the project is nearing to a close and delivery of advertising campaigns, photography or videography is near I would explain the story of the project development and how we expect it to improve business for the client.
Step 1
Assessing each clients needs and budget will be essential and understanding each clients current journey through analysis and clear communication will allow the right project and services to be decided on. This will result in an initial plan to bring forward to the team. I will then spend time compiling a thorough plan for each clients needs integrating with current Idenna project deadlines to make sure that we can deliver to the highest standard.
Step 2
It is key that initiating and growing business for Idenna relies on a continuation of the great work achieved to date. To achieve this whilst also inspiring new clients to join Idenna’s journey I would make sure that the team is capable and ready for the project before a presentation to the client of available options was provided. Most importantly communication with the client through me would insure that the sole creative team can keep focused on developing the product whilst I explain any alterations or concerns from the client. With a thorough creative understanding of all the sectors that Idenna trades I can make sure that the team and client are at their most comfortable throughout each process to insure the development of brilliant projects.
Step 3
I am comfortable with managing projects to high standards with lots of pressure and would have no problem with managing projects of all types with my varied skillset already discussed with James. I am happy to manage and assist with creative roles in photography, graphic design, videography, sound recording and website CMS management. Once delivery has taken place I personally see maintaining a high level of customer service to be the most important thing alongside successful creative results. I would make sure the client doesn’t feel as if we have abandoned them upon delivery to increase the chance of more business. This also allows us to maintain an understanding of the most successful work and how to continue on Idenna’s rapid growth curve.
