LOCATION : LOS ANGELES, CA PROGRAM : MUSICAL MAKERS SPACE, PERFORMANCE TARGET POPULATION : LOVERS OF MUSIC
AUDIO GENESIS LAB
This project pushes to create a sensory dialog between music and light that serves as both a medium for live performance and a catalyst for creative production. I want to provide a narrative for what the relationship between creations and our perceptions should be. A collaborative atmosphere should serve as a melting pot to fuse various mediums of sensory art and provide new opportunities for creative minds with insufficient tools for creation. An immaterial environment should provide a stress free sanctuary that encourages the poetics of free movement, and allows one’s perceptions to be altered for a truly unique experience.

LOCATION : SAN DIEGO, CA PROGRAM : HOUSING / MIXED USE TARGET POPULATION : YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
MICRO HOUSING Density plays a huge role in how housing feels, and how people respond to it. As we transition from the traditional one family house to more dense forms of housing like apartment complexes, many of the appealing traits that were once present begin to disappear. This project strives to break that mold by creating efficient living spaces that cater to the needs of individual residents, but promote social interaction by creating useful communal spaces on each floor of the project.

LIBRARY ADDITION
This project is an addition to an existing building. The purpose was to revitalize an unused piazza in the center of Florence, while providing a meaningful entrance to a humanities library for the University of Florence. Two of my main goals while designing this project were to maintain porosity and free flow of exterior spaces on the ground level and to create a series of courtyards varying in privacy. To accomplish this, the majority of the spaces are either lifted up off the ground, or placed below ground appropriately according to program.

LOCATION : KYOTO, JAPAN PROGRAM :ZEN BUDDHIST CENTER TARGET POPULATION : ZEN BUDDHIST FOLLOWERS
BUDDHIST CENTER The idea of a journey is often a large part of Japanese architecture and culture. This project aims to celebrate that ideal by placing an emphasis on circulation both on the interior and exterior. The private nature of the program situated in an urban context triggered inspiration for an enclosing exterior lattice screen that separates the main structure and courtyard from the streets of Kyoto. This, in turn, provides a symbolic gate as one passes through that signals a shift into a sacred area and creates dynamic volumes of space in between its exterior positioning and the main structure.
