BEOPLAY A4 PRODUCT DESIGN Portable Speaker (2015)

PORTABLE SPEAKER, this project was all about creating a speaker. More specifically a docking station with stereo sound. I decided from the start that I wanted to create a portable speaker and focused on the transport. That is why I made the handle such a clear part of the design. I wanted to create something simple and geometrical. I also focused on creating buttons and controls easy to handle. I believe the final design met the expectations. Later on in the process when the main design was completed I found great inspiration from Bang & Olufsen. Which also has a very geometrical and minimalistic design. Their carefully chosen materials also inspired me and I wanted my product to have that kind of feeling. Every material a distinct element of the design.

C7 PRODUCT DESIGN Wind Power (2015)

“lighting driven by wind power”

Wind Power, the project focused on creating a product driven by wind power and started with a workshop where a group of 9 people tried to find as many solutions as possible in a limited time. All the ideas was then gathered and organized in categories. Then everybody continued with an individual creative phase. Where a specific category was chosen. I focused on “lighting driven by wind power and gathered different types of lighting in groups. I decided to focus on the target group hikers and campers, which made me choose flashlights and lanterns as inspirations. I wanted to create some kind of portable light source driven by wind power. Then I created a list of requirements to know what I wanted my design to achieve. The requirements were gathered in two groups. What the design shall achieve (requirement) and what the design should achieve (goals, non-mandatory provisions).

Shall, provide lighting, be driven by wind, be rechargeable, be portable Should, be functional, be understandable, provide charging, be smooth With these requirements and goals determined I moved on to the sketching phase. I aimed to create a flashlight/lantern with a portable and smooth design. Easily stored in a backpack with a practical size and shape. I also wanted the product to be contractile, with a possibility to make it bigger when it’s used. The size could affect the ability to collect wind power, and the possibility to make it smaller when not used could make it easier to store. I took inspiration from flashlights and different sorts of lanterns, I wanted to create a product which could work both as a flashlight and a lantern. I also worked a lot with the turbine, I made small test models in cardboard which I could test physically, they are seen next to the lanterns. I struggled a lot with the design of the turbine as it had to be quiet small but yet effective.

This is the final design, a contractile lantern in the shape of a cylinder. The two parts are joined by an axle which the turbine spins around. There are ball bearings in both ends to make the turbine spin more smoothly. The turbine generates power either directly to the lamp or to load a battery. This makes it possible to gather power throughout the whole day and then turn on the lamp when the darkness comes. The lantern can also be used as a recharger as it features an USB port. The lamp continues around the edge at the bottom, this provides a broader light which also shines downwards. This might be useful if you want to hang the lamp inside your tent. The strap is used for hanging and carrying. The lantern is easy to use, functional and space efficient, with a height of 250 mm in extended mode and 170 mm when it is closed.

KANTIG PRODUCT DESIGN Hat Rack (2015)

HAT RACK, this was a short project during a course in production methods. The hat rack consists of a steel frame and oak boards. It is possible to hang coat hangers on the frame, which has a thickness of 30 mm. The model was created in Rhino and rendered in Keyshot.

FACTOR PRODUCT DESIGN Bike Helmet (2015)

BIKE HELMET, this is a bike helmet designed to suit the Aston Martin bike “Factor, with inspiration from the timeless car design. My goal was to create an elegant and plain helmet, with elements from the classic Aston Martin design. The front is clearly inspired by the typical Aston Martin grill and gives the helmet its character. The lines of the helmet presuppose from the front and continues all the way to the back where they ends with a LED-light inspired by the backlights of the Aston Martin One-77. The choice of materials and colours is very important to me. The colour is carefully selected to be typical Aston Martin. I also focused on the details. Buttons of aluminium with inscription and straps of leather.

The wind flow entering the grille can be controlled, either passing through the channel over the head or directly into the helmet.
