Apple One of the earliest computer brands, Apple is synonymous with clean design and innovation. Toshiba Japanese company Toshiba can trace its roots all the way back to 1875 as a maker of telegraph equipment, thanks to a series of mergers. Alienware Technically a subsidiary of Dell, Alienware has set itself apart as a maker of high-powered gaming laptops and PCs. Acer A subsidiary of Acer since 2007, Gateway broke into the personal computer market in the 1990s in part thanks to its clever advertising. For laptops, it offers the LT series with a 10.1inch HD touchscreen, its entry-level NE series, and the NV series with touchscreen capabilities.
