LaCie Echo Mobile medical imaging tool for medical professionals in place of a stethoscope and ultrasound cart. More time with doctors allows for better education and enables development of the doctor/patient relationship. Group brand deconstruction project with individual design proposals thereafter. Using developed design guidelines, LaCie Echo progressed through sketch and CAD development to a 3D printed aesthetic model. Exhibited at New Designers 2014.
Development CAD, renders and log books used to define and refine 3D form before printing and finishing the model in Brunel workshops.

Mili Named after the photographer that introduced Picasso to light painting, Mili is a changeable colour light painting tool following the form of an aerosol spray paint can. An RGB LED is controlled via software pulse width modulation using values input by the user via a rotary encoder. Featured on Yanko Design.
Designed in Solidworks, laser cut parts house the electronics within a machined acrylic and aluminium case. Flowcharts helped to define the program’s structure whilst KiCAD was used to draft schematics and PCB layouts for rapid prototype and final manufacture.

B&O A9 Weekender 30 design students from 10 universities around the world were invited to design a special edition A9 speaker. Weekender was chosen as a top 3 finalist. A9 Weekender edition captures the emotion of the relaxed weekend as a contrast to the chaotic, technology filled workplace. Visually distinguishing the final two sevenths of each solid cocobolo leg, hammered copper collars represent the weekend. The importance of this time off is emphasised with the use of muted colours, effortlessly bending into their surroundings, and premium materials that develop as they age. Featured on Yanko Design.
Delivered as an aesthetic design proposal document along with manufacturing considerations and specifications.
Avon Pure Respirator sub-assembly designed to improve speech communication without electronic amplification. Designed using a bespoke test rig and validated through user testing, Avon Pure achieves a 30% improvement over existing masks, enabling the perception of words featuring higher frequency components. Featured in Made in Brunel Visions magazine. Featured in Made in Brunel Show Highlights magazine. Exhibited at IEHF conference 2014.
Based on understanding where current respirators fail to transmit specific frequencies used in speech, iterative technologies were implemented into a host respirator and rated using a bespoke test method. Custom test rig enabled a comparison of known signals through a respirator to determine audio losses.

(Hz)Prototype FrequencyFrequency (Hz) Final Donor Mask Graphical data from the test enabled visual benchmarking between iterations, showing key frequency areas. In order to validate the design, an industry recognised speech intelligibility test highlighted improvements in perception of words featuring higher frequency components, as described by the development test.
Delivered as a proving principle prototype and technology embodiment detailing manufacturing options and limitations. Rapid prototypes and technical drawings show assembly and technical integration whilst render shows integration with Avon’s brand heritage.

Co-Habiting Couples & DIY Human factors research study into 25-35 year old couples and their shared DIY experience. Generative user research techniques used within a group used to develop individual concepts. Based on the theme of interpersonal sharing throughout the process, the proposed concept focussed on the role of shared music and how this may be used for subtle time keeping and motivation.
Interactive radio concept designed to accumulate and showcase paint splashes, knocks and wear. Inspired by radio programming, every three hours, playlists are refreshed for background timekeeping and stored for later listening. Polling music from multiple sources, it generates playlists based on number of listens, genre and metadata to create a varied, shared track list.

Product Visualisation Experienced using Solidworks, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite to produce presentation level 2D and 3D product visualisations.
Fender Stratocaster solid modelled for Level 2 Solidworks course. Rendered in Keyshot. Freelance concept sketches for a low cost commuter respirator.
About Me Dedicated product designer graduating from Brunel University with a First Class Hons. Product Design BSc degree in summer 2014. Excited by integrated technical solutions within human centred and aesthetically considered packages. Experienced in a wide field through a range of university, personal and professional projects seeking opportunities to develop skills further. Interested in quality acoustics and audio equipment via ten year background as a guitarist. In this time, I’ve also made an electric guitar and am in the process of making an acoustic guitar. Together with an appreciation of fine wrist watches, motorsport is another interest, giving a chance to practice photography skills.
