AUDITION PROCESS The Verbier Solti Project will be marketed through the websites of the Verbier Festival Academy and Georg Solti Accademia, and a separate microsite will be launched on 1 September 2013 outlining the project. The information about the project will be communicated through alumni, teachers and professors of each Academy as well as through close contacts and network of major opera studios and schools worldwide. Posters would be produced for main conservatoires. Participants apply to participate through an online auditioning software at www.getacceptd.com Accepted participants will receive scholarships to participate in the whole project at no cost to them. They will, however, have to “invest” in their own participation by covering the cost of their own travel to Tuscany and from Verbier, except in the most exceptional cases.
The Georg Solti Accademia is another world-leader, with a focus on training and nurturing talented young singers and repetiteurs in the art of Italian opera and song.
Their accommodation in Tuscany and Verbier will be offered in hotels or with host families and some food will be provided on a daily basis.
The GSA, with a faculty made up of exceptional teachers and legendary singers, offers masterclasses and training in language, dramatic interpretation and musicianship, providing a bridge between the end of formal training and professional life. The three-week course takes place in the Tuscan resort of Castiglione della Pescaia, where Sir Georg Solti spent his summers.
The Verbier Festival Academy is a world leader in identifying, encouraging and nurturing tomorrow’s exceptional solo performers. An elite group of young artists are brought to Verbier for three weeks each summer to participate in masterclasses, performances and exchange creative ideas with an extraordinary community of musicians.
Each year 12 singers receive scholarships to attend the intensive course. A two-week course for repetiteurs is held at Easter each year.

James Baillieu is a young South African-born piano accompanist who has already achieved considerable acclaim for his performances with singers. He has worked as a coach both at the Georg Solti Accademia in Castiglione and also at the Verbier Festival Academy. He has recently been appointed Professor of Accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Richard Bonynge was born in Sydney. He has recorded over fifty complete operas and numerous ballets both in recording and on film, as well as videos and DVDs of many operas and recorded numerous ballets. He is widely regarded as being extraordinarily sympathetic to singers on the stage and his instinct, knowledge and feel for voices has become legendary. He is acknowledged as a scholar of bel canto in 18th and 19th century opera and ballet music. He was married to the soprano Dame Joan Sutherland.
While Verbier Academy has focused on instrumentalists, the Georg Solti Accademia’s sole focus has been on singers. Each year, the Verbier Academy also invites a group of singers to participate in its activities: in the summer of 2013 they plan to work on Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
Caroline Dowdle Director of Music, Verbier Festival Academy Opera Programme Caroline Dowdle is one of the key musical staff at the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and also for the Samling Foundation which also develops young singers. She travels regularly in Europe to coach singers and to assist in preparing opera productions. She has led the opera programme in the Verbier Festival Academy since 2008.

ACADEMY FOR EMERGING SINGERS The Verbier Solti Opera Project would be a world-class academy for the most talented young emerging singers, with excellent teaching from important and distinguished professors and coaches. The project would be a springboard for the participants as they develop their careers. The ambitions and goals of the project would not only reflect but amplify the values of the Rolex Institute. The project may also offer opportunities for involving key members of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative and the Rolex Ambassadors into its activities, so that it becomes a truly multidisciplinary cultural initiative.

The first half of the Verbier Solti Opera Project will take place at the home of the Georg Solti Accademia in Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany. Created in 2004 in memory of the great Hungarian conductor Sir Georg Solti, the annual Georg Solti Accademia takes place in the Tuscan seaside town where for over 40 years Solti spent his summers. The course aims to unite the greatest interpreters and teachers of the Bel Canto tradition with outstanding young singers and repetiteurs. During the three weeks in Castiglione the singers will benefit from masterclasses of the highest standards in musicianship, language and dramatic interpretation in Italian bel canto repertoire. There will also be specific preparation work on arias and ensembles from Puccini’s La Bohème. The Castiglione course culminates in two final concerts, one in Piazza Solti and the other hosted by Vittorio Moretti and Alain Ducasse in the Andana hotel. (This final concert will be repeated the following week in Verbier).

20 I NEWSLETTER
The second half of the project takes place in Verbier where the singers will focus almost exclusively on Puccini’s La Bohème. The period will begin with an emphasis on stagecraft with Tim Carroll who has directed every opera in Verbier since 2008; his approach to “playing” on stage is unique and gives the singers an opportunity to question how they play and how they interact with an audience. The second week will include masterclasses with a great Mimi (most likely?? Mirella Freni) and also Sir Thomas Allen. The third week will concentrate on musical rehearsals with the orchestra and conductor, as well as working on Sir Thomas Allen’s mis-en-scène. The whole project concludes with a semistaged public performance of La Bohème in Salle des Combins in Verbier to which key figures in the world of opera (casting directors, agents, promoters, etc) will be invited.

The Verbier Solti Opera Project is the result of an important collaboration between the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto and the Verbier Festival Academy. It will offer twelve exceptional young singers the unique opportunity to focus on Italian opera and song, and in 2014 on Puccini’s La Bohème, over the course of six weeks. The project will become the ultimate European (destination?) training course/summer school for young opera singers.

The gothic novel, Caleb Williams by William Godwin can be seen as an example of the influence the events of the French revolution had on the genre. The main character, Caleb Williams is of humble birth, an unusual circumstance for Godwin to write, since his usual characters are about people of wealth and title.[6]
The gothic novel combines elements of terror and romance, and the supernatural. English novelist Fanny Burney wrote at the time of the French Revolution that, "There is nothing in old history that I shall any longer think fabulous; the destruction of the most wonderful empires on record has nothing more wonderful, nor of more sounding improbability, than the demolition of this great nation, which rises up against itself for its own ruin-perhaps R E V O annihilation." Creating elements of terror and fantasy gave expression to their anxieties of what was to come, and gave voice to their incredulousness at the events taking place in France. Because of the French Revolution and France's proximity to England, English writers during that period were concerned with the concept of violent and inclusive change in the human condition.

The design allows a maximum direct sun for 2hrs and 30 minutes for the 9.1.4 Maximum distance of visibility of the LED moving display east facing shelters and 2hrs 20 minutes for the west facing shelters. It is Height of letters 30mm-60mm.The lower value taken to be visible from approximately 25 feet across- the least width of single lane before residential buildings, possible to further lower the front hood by a 100mm according to ergonomic (Ref. chart below) accessibilty timespan avoiding visual and physical obstruction to further lower the direct light timespan. However that compromises on the curvature, look and form of the structure. Here the optimum clearance provided is 2300 mm.
