IN A ROLE REVERSAL, THIS BUSINESS OWNER HIRED HIS DAD Record-Breaking Sales and a Focus on Hiring Vets Highlight Year of Distinguished Service June marks Window Genie of Louisville’s one-year anniversary serving the Greater Louisville area with services including window cleaning, window tinting and pressure washing. Coming off of April in which his location’s sales were the highest in the history of the company for any owner in their first year, owner Charlie Caravello, 38, has gone from having one employee to six, three of which are Army veterans currently serving in the National Guard and one of which is his father. Caravello has attributed the success of his Window Genie to his stable of employees. First hiring his retired father, Chuck Caravello, 65, the junior Caravello went on to hire multiple other workers thanks to his initial success serving the community. Placing a premium on hard work, professionalism and reliability, Caravello said it’s no surprise that three of his employees are military veterans.
“Veterans bring so many skills to the table that can benefit a business,” said Caravello. “Customers for home cleaning services, like that which Window Genie provides, are particularly discriminating when it comes to who they want working on their home. The knowledge that many of the workers previously served their country lets them know that they’re in good hands.” Caravello is also able to point to his father’s role as an employee as an additional source of his company’s success. Chuck Caravello, who was a warehouse district manager for Michelin Tires for 23 years, came out of retirement to work at his son’s business. While some may find that role-reversal to be challenging, the Caravello family wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I retired a little over a year ago, but when my son decided to open a business of his own I wanted to help in any way that I could,” said Chuck Caravello. “As father and son, we know each other best and it’s always nice to be in business with someone you can fully trust.”
Recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine, Inc. Magazine and others for its successful approach to providing home cleaning services, Window Genie continues to make a name for itself. Caravello’s Window Genie has more than met the task of maintaining the franchise’s reputation of success, exemplifying the value of an esteemed brand backed by distinguished employees.
