Telangana government approves DA for employees
Hyderabad,: (IANS) The Telangana government on Monday approved one installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners.
The state government issued a Government Order, approving 2.73 per cent DA. The DA will now go up to 20.02 per cent of the basic pay from earlier 17.29. The hike will benefit 4.40 lakh employees and 2.88 lakh pensioners. Finance Minister T. Harish Rao said the hike will come into effect from July 1, 2021. The DA arrears from July 2021 to December 2022 will be credited to GPF accounts of the employees in eight installments.
In another move, the state government released the schedule for transfers and promotions of the employees. The process will begin on January 27. Online applications for the same will be accepted from January 28 to January 30.
Government school teachers had on Sunday staged a protest at Pragathi Bhavan demanding the scrapping of or amendment to the GO, saying injustice was being done to them.
Meanwhile, BJP state President Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded that the GO be scrapped immediately. He said the BRS government has kept the problem pending for two years.
Sanjay alleged hundreds of teachers were suffering due to the lacunae in the GO. He said as transfers of spouses were stopped in 13 districts, this was causing severe hardships to teachers. He claimed that 34 teachers committed suicide due to the GO.
So far solar panels have been installed in over 100 government schools and work orders have been issued for another 453 schools
Hyderabad: Over 500 government schools in the State will have access to solar power by March. Last year, the State government had announced that it would install rooftop solar systems in 1,521 government schools at a cost of Rs 32 crore in 12 districts.
According to officials at the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), so far solar panels have been installed in over 100
Last September, TSREDCO had invited tenders for installation of solar panels and finalized 11 vendors. The selected vendors are installing 2 KW to 5 KW rooftop solar systems in the schools. The schools with over 200 enrollments have been selected for the installation of the solar panels. Out of the 1,521 government schools selected, 916 come under the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited and 605 are under the Northern Power Distribution Company Limited.
Officials said installation of solar panels would not only help in bringing down the annual power bills of the schools to a large extent but also help them in earning money through the excess power generated and transferred to the grid.
