Fauci says boosters for all key to U.S. reaching COVID-19 endemic level Experts believe COVID-19 cannot be eliminated and will likely become endemic, meaning it will always be present in the population to some degree, such as the flu or chickenpox. Anthony Fauci said on Tuesday it is possible for COVID-19 to be reduced to an endemic illness from the current health emergency next year if the country ramps up vaccination rates. Booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccines are vital for reaching that point, Fauci said in an interview during the Reuters Total Health conference, which runs virtually from Nov. 15-18. Experts believe COVID-19 cannot be eliminated and will likely become endemic,
meaning it will always be present in the population to some degree, such as the flu or chickenpox. “To me, if you want to get to endemic, you have got to get the level of infection so low that it does not have an impact on society, on your life, on your economy,” Fauci said. “People will still get infected. People might still get hospitalized, but the level would be so low that we don’t think about it all the time and it doesn’t influence what we do.

Deadly storm cuts transport links around Vancouver HiIndia Newsdesk
A deadly storm described by officials as a once-in-a-century weather event has severed road and rail links around Vancouver, Canada. Two motorways connecting the West Coast city were closed after being damaged by severe flooding. Thousands of people were forced to leave their homes due to the massive storm, which struck on Sunday. A woman was killed in a highway landslide, and rescuers say at least two other people are missing. The woman's body was found near Lillooet, about 250km (155 miles) from Vancouver, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). RCMP Sgt Janelle Shoihet said that rescuers had not yet determined the number of occupied vehicles that were lost in the slide, according to AFP news agency.

The US banned Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, his wife, Vice-President Rosario Murillo, and other government officials from entering the US in a proclamation signed by President Joe Biden on Tuesday. The move came in response to the November 7 presidential election in Nicaragua, which has been widely condemned by the international community as a sham. Forty members of the opposition, including seven who would have stood as candidates, were arrested so Ortega could coast to a fourth consecutive term.

US Congress punishes lawmaker over violent clip HiIndia Newsdesk
The US House of Representatives has voted to punish a Republican lawmaker who tweeted a cartoon depicting him attacking Democrats with swords. The Democraticcontrolled C ongress voted 223-207 to censure Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar and remove him from his committee roles. It came after he posted then deleted an anime video that Democrats say promoted violence against President Joe Biden and lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He has called it a "symbolic cartoon". It comes just 10 months after supporters of Republican President Donald Trump stormed Congress in an attempt to block the certification of Mr Biden's election victory. The vote largely fell along party lines, with only two Republicans voting to censure Mr Gosar. Ahead of the vote, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that "this is about workplace harassment and violence against women." "Yet, the member has never apologised for his actions. 'It's a cartoon, relax,' he said. Really?," Pelosi said. Mr Gosar, for his part, said he rejects "the false narrative" that he espouses violence and said the video depicts "a policy battle".
US annual drug overdose deaths hit record levels HiIndia Newsdesk
More than 100,000 Americans have died of drug overdoses over a year-long period during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is the highest yearly death toll from drugs ever recorded in the US. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that overdose deaths rose 28.5% in the 12 months ending this past April. Experts believe that overdoses likely spiked because of the psychological toll of the pandemic and more synthetic opioids like fentanyl in the supply. Overdoses rose in all but four of 50 US states.

China, US agree to ease restrictions on journalists HiIndia Newsdesk
The US and China have agreed to ease travel and visa restrictions on each others' journalists.
The agreement comes after highly-anticipated talks between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden. The move will allow journalists to enter and depart from both countries more freely. State media outlet China Daily said the agreement was the result of "more than a year of difficult negotiations". Under this, both governments will increase the validity of journalist visas from three months to one year, provided they are eligible under all applicable laws and regulations. Both countries have also pledged to allow journalists to freely depart and return, which they had previously been unable to do.
"Life Back To Normal"
Victoria, the state that is home to Melbourne, has been gradually easing curbs when dual-dose inoculations reached 70%, 80% and 90%, with the latest relaxations part of a shift in strategy towards living with the coronavirus. The full vaccination level for the eligible population is expected to reach 90% over the weekend. Melbourne's pubs and cafes can have unlimited patrons from Thursday night, while stadiums can return to full capacity as authorities lifted nearly all remaining COVID-19 restrictions for the vaccinated residents in Australia's second-largest city. "Your life will be back to normal, you will be able to enjoy all the things that you have yearned for and missed," State Premier Daniel Andrews said during a media conference.

"I think it would be a tragic, tragic mistake for the Kremlin to think there was anything to be gained by military adventurism," Boris Johnson said.
London: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Wednesday it would be a "tragic mistake" for Russia to embark on "military adventurism" on the borders of Poland and Ukraine, amid escalating regional tensions. "What we've got to do is to make sure that ever ybody understands that the cost of miscalculation on the borders of both Ukraine and of Poland would be enormous," Johnson told a panel of senior UK lawmakers. "I think it would be a tragic, tragic mistake for the Kremlin to think there was anything to be gained by military adventurism."
British Columbia sees death toll rising from massive flood HiIndia Newsdesk
The death toll from massive floods and landslides that devastated parts of British Columbia is set to rise, with the Canadian province declaring a state of emergency on Wednesday and the federal government promising major help. Authorities have confirmed one death after torrential rains and mudslides destroyed roads and left several mountain towns isolated. At least three people are missing. Some 18,000 people are displaced in the Pacific Coast province, Canadian Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino said.

Philippines condemns Chinese coast guard’s action HiIndia Newsdesk
The Philippines condemned “in strongest terms” the actions of three Chinese Coast Guard vessels which blocked and used water cannons on two Manila supply boats on their way to a Philippine-occupied atoll in the South China Sea, its top diplomat said on Thursday. Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin said no one was hurt during the Nov 16 incident at the Second Thomas Shoal but the Philippines boats, which were transporting food supplies to military personnel based there had to abort their mission. “The acts of the Chinese Coast Guard are illegal,” Locsin said in a statement, reminding China that a public vessel is covered by the Philippines-United States Mutual Defense Treaty.
The U.N. envoy to Afghanistan on Wednesday delivered a bleak assessment of the situation following the Taliban takeover, saying that an affiliate of the Islamic State group has grown and now appears present in nearly all 34 provinces. U.N. Special Representative Deborah Lyons told the U.N. Security Council that the Taliban’s response to Islamic State-Khorasan Province’s (ISKP) expansion “appears to rely heavily on extrajudicial detentions and killings” of suspected ISKP fighters. “This is an area deserving more attention from the international community,” she said. Her comments came hours after the group — an ideological foe of the Taliban — claimed responsibility for two blasts that killed at least one person and wounded six others in a heavily Shiite Muslim neighborhood of Kabul.

US-based social activist urges Indian govt to restore multi-year multiple entry tourist visas HiIndia Newsdesk
India from Monday allowed individual tourist travel and is issuing the first five lakh foreign tourist visas free of cost
New York: As India opened its doors for vaccinated foreign tourists after over one-and-a-half years of travel restriction due to Covid, New York-based social activist Prem Bhandari has called on the Indian government to restore the already issued and valid multi-year multiple entry tourist visas to ensure ease of travel for tourists. India from Monday allowed individual tourist travel and is issuing the first five lakh foreign tourist visas free of cost. The newly-issued tourist/e-tourist visa will be a single entry visa for 30 days. According to an advisory on the website of the Indian Consulate here, the existing valid e-Tourist Visa/
regular paper Tourist Visa issued before October 6, 2021, will continue to remain suspended and travel on such visas will not be permitted. Bhandari, who is the Jaipur Foot USA Chairman, called on the Indian government to allow travel for foreign tourists on their existing tourist visas, which are issued for five and 10 years, saying this will ensure that the tourists do not have to go through the additional burden of applying for new visas. It will also lessen the burden on authorities to issue new visas. “Foreign tourists with valid five-, 10-year multiple entry Indian visas should be allowed entry into the country. If required, authorities can stamp their visas with limited stay periods when they reach India. This will be much more convenient and hassle-free than the new rules requiring tourists to re-apply for the single entry 30-day visa,” Bhandari told

Mahatma Gandhi's statue vandalised in Australia HiIndia Newsdesk
It was unveiled on November 12 by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the Australian-Indian Community Centre in the Melbourne suburb of Rowville Melbourne: Attempts were made by unidentified persons to decapitate a life-sized bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi that was unveiled on November 12 by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the Australian-Indian Community Centre in the Melbourne suburb of Rowville. The incident was reported on November 12-13, after which the Victoria police appealed for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dash cam or anyone with information to contact the investigating authority. Morrison has said he was devastated to hear about the vandalism, ABC news reported. "Australia is the most successful multicultural and immigration nation in the world and attacks on cultural monuments will not be tolerated," Morrison has said. "It is disgraceful and extremely disappointing to see this level of disrespect. Whoever is responsible for this has shown great disrespect to the Australian-Indian community and should be ashamed," the Prime Minister was quoted as saying. Jason Wood, the Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, who was also at the unveiling, has said it was a "disgraceful act". "Australia celebrates everyone's culture and traditions," he said. Meanwhile, Surya Prakash Soni, president of the Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria, has termed the vandalism as a "low act".
Number of Indians studying in US dropped Four Indians killed in Nepal by nearly 13%in 2020-21: Report HiIndia Newsdesk
HiIndia Newsdesk
Indian students still constitute the second largest group of international students in the US after those from China, according to the 2021 Open Doors Report New Delhi: The number of Indians studying in the United States decreased by nearly 13 per cent in 2020-21 as compared to the previous academic year, according to an annual report released by the
Institute of International Education on Monday, with US officials attributing the drop in numbers to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the US remains a “top destination” for international students, and Indian students still constitute the second largest group of international students in the US after those from China, according to the 2021 Open Doors Report. Senior officials of the US Embassy in New Delhi on Monday shared some of the details from the report at a press conference held at the Fulbright House here, and also told reporters that “over 62,000 student visas were issued this summer alone, more than in any previous year”. The figures on student visas indicate that the “downturn” in number of Indians studying in the US, was a “Covid blip”, and that the “overall trendline has been generally positive”, said Anthony Miranda, Counselor for Cultural and Educational Affairs at the US Embassy. He spoke about the global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on education and student mobility, and that the US too suffered its impact with a drop in the number of international students studying in the US.
Kathmandu: Four Indian nationals were killed in a road accident in Rautahat district near the Nepal-India border, police said. The car with an Indian number plate met with the accident at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night along the Chandranigahapur road section at Jhunkhunwa Chowk, according to the District Police Office in Rautahat. They were heading from Chandranighapur, a small city to district headquarters, Gaur. The police said that the speeding vehicle plunged 20 metres down the road and fell into a pond. "We have recovered Indian Aadhar cards from the deceased," Superintendent of Nepal Police, Binod Ghimire said, adding that "we have informed the Indian police about the accident"

Incredible India
Where it's forbidden to serve meat

Long known as one of the world's holiest cities, India's spiritual capital is now luring culinary pilgrims as it transforms into a vegetarian paradise.
nhabited since at least 1800 BC, Varanasi is well known for being among the oldest living cities on Earth, and one of the holiest for the world's estimated 1.2 billion Hindus. Every day, as the sound of ringing temple bells echo overhead, tens of thousands of devotees descend the city's 88 stone ghat steps and dip themselves into the Ganges river to wash away their sins. Bereaved relatives flock to Varanasi's two cremation grounds where funeral pyres burn around the clock, believing that Shiva himself whispers the Tarak mantra (chant of liberation) into the ears of all those cremated here, granting them instant moksha or salvation. Driving through the city's busy streets, Rakesh Giri, chauffeur and raconteur par excellence, told how Shiva, the destroyer of the universe, had founded

And since followers of Shiva believe he is a vegetarian God, he and most other Varanasi residents follow a strict sattvic ("pure vegetarian") diet. Two-time Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar named his modern Indian restaurant in London Benares (the name of Varanasi during British rule). A sattvic menu is based on Ayurvedic principles and adheres to the strictest standards of vegetarianism prescribed by the Sanatana dharma, an absolute form of Hinduism. As such, it forbids the use of onion and garlic in cooking, which are believed to increase anger, aggression and anxiety, among other things. "Staying sattvic is a priority for those who wish to attain salvation because we believe that our souls would suffer like those we killed for food otherwise. Meat, onions and garlic exacerbate tamasic (the opposite of

Across town, the chief attraction at Varanasi's Baati Chokha restaurant is baati,a hard, unleavened wheat bread and a typical food in the surrounding state of Uttar Pradesh that's baked on dried cow dung cakes. In fact, as diners enter, they are greeted by the sight of dried cow dung cakes stacked up to the ceiling in an outdoor shed. The restaurant does everything in-house, from pounding their spices in stone mills to grinding the flour for the baati. The vegetables for the accompanying chokha made with eggplant, potatoes and tomatoes, are also roasted on top of the same dung cakes, before simmering in a spice mix in clay pots. Most Indians know that Varanasi is the capital of paan (betel leaf), and I was not going to leave Varanasi without having tried one. Paan is usually enjoyed at the end of a meal as it aids in digestion and functions as a breath freshener.

It’s actually insane it’s not, considering it’s something everyone is going to go through at numerous stages of life.” In another post, Anushka posted a quote by Albert Einstein that said, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.” Anushka recently returned to Mumbai after accompanying Virat to the UAE for the T20 World Cup. The actor was seen holding Vamika, while also twinning with her husband in white. The 25th James Bond movie, No Time to Die, has become one of the few big-screen releases during the Covid-19 pandemic to cross the $700 million mark. A Cary Joji Fukunaga directorial, the Daniel Craig-starrer has accumulated $708 million. It is only the second Hollywood film after F9 to achieve this feat. Now, only F9: The Fast Saga ($721 million), Hi, Mom ($822 million), and The Battle at Lake Changjin ($874 million) are above No Time to Die. But in terms of purely overseas (outside North America) earnings, the film has grossed more than F9, and is thus the biggest overseas earner in Hollywood during the pandemic. he film was made on a hefty budget of $250 million, so great performance at the box office was essential. Craig has received a lot of praise for his swan song performance in No Time to Die, with some saying it is the best performance of his career. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the film follows a jaded Bond who has retired from MI6 but gets recruited by the CIA to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes return from previous films. Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, Ana de Armas, David Dencik, and Dali Benssalah join the franchise with No Time to Die.

Nations Must Ensure Crypto Not In Wrong Hands, "Can Spoil Our Youth": PM HiIndia Newsdesk
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is important that all democratic nations work together on cryptocurrency and ensure it does not end up in wrong hands, which can spoil our youth. New Delhi:The world's democracies must work together on cryptocurrency to ensure it "does not end up in the wrong hands", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today in his first public comments on the subject as the government works on new rules for digital currencies. PM Modi's caution comes days after he held dis c ussions on how to move for ward on cryptocurrency in India, with concerns raised on unregulated crypto markets becoming avenues for money laundering and terror financing. Commenting that technology and data are becoming new weapons and that democracies must cooperate in rules for data governance, the Prime Minister said: "Take cryptocurrency or Bitcoin, for example. It is important that all democratic nations work together
on this and ensure it does not end up in wrong hands, which can spoil our youth." PM Modi was speaking at the Sydney Dialogue, a forum on emerging, critical and cybertechnologies. The government is considering a regulatory framework to manage and oversee investments made in cryptocurrency. A report in the Economic Times said yesterday said the government could bar the use of cryptocurrencies for transactions or making payments, but could allow them to be held as assets like gold, shares or bonds. The Prime Minister's meeting on Saturday on crypto was an outcome of a consultative process that involved the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Finance Ministry and Home Ministry, along with experts. Attempts to mislead the youth through over-promising and
non-transparent advertising must be stopped, it was reportedly discussed in the meeting. RBI chief Shaktikanta Das has also warned that India needs much deeper discussions on cryptocurrencies. "When the central bank says that we have serious concerns from the point of view of macroeconomic and financial stability, there are far deeper issues involved. I'm yet to see serious, well-informed discussions in the public space on these issues," Mr Das said at a recent event. In his address, the Prime Minister said the Digital Age "is changing everything around us" and has redefined politics, economy and society. "It is raising new questions on sovereignty, governance, ethics, law, rights and security. It is reshaping international competition, power and leadership," he said.

ew satellite images accessed by NDTV show that China has constructed a second enclave or cluster of at least 60 buildings in Arunachal Pradesh. The new enclave did not exist in 2019 according to the satellite images; a year later, it can be seen. It lies 93 km east of a China-constructed village in Arunachal Pradesh, a big encroachment first reported by NDTV in January and which was confirmed by a Pentagon report just days ago. India reacted sharply to that report, which corroborated NDTV's exclusive story, stating ''China has undertaken construction activities in the past several years along the border areas, including in the areas that it has illegally occupied over the decades. India has neither accepted such illegal occupation of our territory, nor has it accepted the unjustified Chinese claims.'' The second enclave lies approximately 6 kilometres within India in the region between the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the International Boundary. India has always claimed this as its own territory. The images do not offer any clarity on whether the enclave is occupied. When asked for comment by NDTV, the Indian Army said, ''The location corresponding to the coordinates mentioned in your query lies to the North of LAC
(Line of Actual Control) in Chinese territory.'' This statement does not refute the fact that construction of this enclave seems to lie between the Line of Actual Control and the International Boundary, in other words, within Indian territory illegally occupied by China. NDTV asked the army about this point; a senior Army officer said that there is no change in their response: ''The area indicated is North of LAC.'' So again, there is no rejection of the new enclave being constructed on Indian turf. Another Iyer, Venkatesh, would join. He would hit a boundary. Slow claps from the coach this time. He would get out playing the reverse sweep. No, Dravid didn’t throw his cap on the turf. Actually, he wasn’t wearing one when in the dugout. Pant would ensure that the coach would start with the win.

Australia powered to an eight-wicket victory over New Zealand to win the Men's T20 World Cup for the first time. Mitchell Marsh plundered a ferocious 77 not out from 50 balls as Australia overhauled what appeared to be a challenging 173 with seven deliveries to spare in Dubai. The all-rounder shared a dominant stand of 92 with opener David Warner and continued to attack after the opener was bowled for 53 from 38 balls. Marsh was dropped on 68 but at that stage only 15 runs were needed from 19 balls, the highest chase in a Men's T20 World Cup final a near certainty. After Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs, Marsh was mobbed by his team-mates and dropped to his knees, overcome with emotion having produced his finest Twenty20 innings on the biggest stage. New Zealand, now beaten in three consecutive white-ball finals, were arguably favourites at the halfway stage after Kane Williamson's 85 from 48 balls in a total of 172-4 on a slow pitch.

The donor should be non-diabetic and under the age of 63. My daughters and I tried to donate but unfortunately our kidneys are not acceptable. I earnestly request and grateful to whoever can come forward to donate a living kidney.

Hygiene Habits that Are Barely Talked About Most of these take less than a minute each to do
Twirling a Thread Between Your Teeth
Hygiene is incredibly underrated.
Go to any Reddit thread on “What are some of the best habits you can develop early in life,” and the word ‘flossing’ will stare back at you. Reddit plus a close friend swearing by its benefits made me order my flossing kit. And thanks to an insanely helpful floss tutorial, in under 2 weeks, my flossing time went from a 10-minute ordeal to a sub45 second breeze. In just a few months of flossing, my gums have become healthier, my teeth-ridges lost their yellowish tint, and my mouth odor’s become better. As Professor Timothy Hempton from Tufts University’s dental school, says:
While good hygiene positively affects your health and boosts your attractiveness, poor hygiene will make you repulsive, prone to diseases, and even lower your self-esteem.
“A lot of people hate doing it, but you have to floss. It’s the most effective way to remove the material between teeth that toothbrushes can’t reach.” Flossing threads are super cheap and this habit takes almost no time to perform. But the benefits are enormous — this habit is a no-brainer.
Scrubbing Your Soles For years, having forgotten that my feet were a part of my body, I developed filthy and cracked old-man soles. I’d never thought they’d show until I caught my reflection while wearing slippers. The soul-crushing cringe of it made me decide to start cleaning them. Turns out, dirty soles have potentially lethal health effects as well — athlete’s foot, staph infections, and foul-smelling gangrene. This only hastened my urgency. With only a month of meticulous scrubbing, my oldman soles took a 180-degree turn — smooth, bright yellow skin has replaced the erstwhile dirt, grime, and cracks. To scrub your soles, use a loofah or a hard-bristled brush. Using your hands alone might not give that much of a clean. As Dr. Robert K. Lee, D.P.M of UCLA
“The actual act of scrubbing or brushing (not just rinsing with water) helps to exfoliate your feet — sloughing off dead cells and preventing calluses.”
There are tons of hygiene habit articles on the internet, so I won’t bother repeating the cliches like brushing your teeth twice and trimming your fingernails.
and a gleaming pigtail started doing seated shoulder presses next to me — and the stench of his messy armpit hair almost made me gag.
It’s all hair — where’s the sense in primping your facial hair and letting your body hair run amok? Even if you don’t wear sleeveless shirts or are sexually inactive, trim your armpits and pubic hair — it keeps you cooler, prevents excessive sweating, and promotes pleasant body odor. Want to go a step further? Trim your full-body hair — apart from making your look more aesthetic, it immerses you in a sense of cleanliness. A good quality full-body trimming kit is an investment. Buy one and every month or fortnight, wield it. Want my clip length recommendations? I use zero for my armpits and nether regions. And 3 mm for my upper body.
Chewing Sugar-Free Gum
This is the cheapest and easiest oral hygiene hack ever. While sugar-free chewing gums are1n’t replacements for brushing, the xylitol in them improves saliva production, deters cavities, and makes your gums healthier. Gum-chewing also strengthens your jaw muscles and sharpens your jawline. And if it’s mint-flavored, you’ve just got yourself 24/7 fresh breath. Sudden-hampered hearing and skull-splitting I almost forgot, it also improves your thinking — headaches made a friend of mine rush to the hospital. multiple studies have found attention-span boosts, heightened cognitive performance, and better wellThe reason turned out to be accumulated earwax. If not hearing loss, stockpiling wax will dirty your being. So, the next time you visit your friendly neighborhood earphones, make other people go “Yuck!”, and even supermarket, grab a large box of Wrigley's spearmints spit out chunks of it randomly. — you get an entire bunch for less than a dollar. Just imagine being on a date and a gargantuan mucus glob falls out of your ear — yeah, that will be your last date with her. Get a large box of Q-Tips and post every shower, grab one, and lightly probe those ear canals. The Workin Moms star and creator, and her husband Philip, have two kids together — sons Jackson Sternberg and Liam Sternberg.
‘Workin Moms’ star Catherine Reitman
In this inspiring speech, Reitman hammers home the fact that you should be able to pick yourself up and convince yourself that things will be alright. She says that not long ago, she felt invisible. “I should let you know I’m not an academic – hell, I barely have a university diploma – but I have found myself in a very fortunate seat. I’m the show-runner of my own series. ‘Show-runner’ is industry talk for a boss lady. And even as I say it to you, it feels strange

The master cook talks about his journey, the challenges that come with being a Michelin-star chef, Indian cuisine and the one food he really wishes to try and why. Excerpts:
When and how did your love affair with food begin?
My love for food goes back in time, to when I was a child and loved staring at my grandma’s kitchen table while she cooked instead of going outside to play football with my friends. I would say it’s a passion I have always had in my mind and my heart. And I followed it!

because it wasn’t so long ago – four years now – that I felt completely powerless, and unqualified, and specifically like I didn’t have a choice”, she says. ”I felt confident writing about what it was to be a working mother, because I know how hard it is, I know how humiliating it is. I also know how luxurious it is. I get to leave my kid, kids now, and do something that’s just for me.”
Two daily habits might be causing hair loss
We all wish for long and thick hair, but that calls for a dedicated and consistent routine. In the absence of which, coupled with an erratic lifestyle, pollution and stress, hair loss has become a very common issue, faced by both men and women. But sometimes, the reason could be an every day habit which we may not even know about. Wondering what it might be? Here’s some help from dermatologist Dr Gurveen Waraich who shared two simple habits that you should avoid to prevent hair loss.
1. TIGHT PONYTAIL OR BUN : Tightly pulled hairstyles whether as buns, braids or ponytails can cause TRACTION ALOPECIA. Traction alopecia is hair loss caused by hair being pulled in the same way for long time. Repeated strain on the hair can damage the follicles leading to receding hairline especially around forehead, temples or nape. Instead wear loose buns or braids and change your hairstyle often.
2. "100 STROKES A DAY" : It’s a popular myth that 100 hair strokes a day will make your hair shinier and healthier, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Brushing is an important part of haircare but rigorous and overbrushing strains your scalp and causes friction on hair leading to hair loss and frizzy hair
