‘It reflects US’ own past, current problems’: Putin reacts to Biden’s ‘killer’ remark HiIndia Newsdesk
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that U.S. President Joe Biden’s remarks about him reflect U.S. own past and current problems. Biden was asked in an interview whether he thought Russian President Vladimir Putin is a killer and said “I do.” Russia on Wednesday announced it’s recalling its ambassador in Washington for consultations. Asked about Biden’s remarks during a video call with residents of Crimea marking the anniversary of its 2014 annexation from Ukraine, Putin charged that they reflect the United States’ own troubled past. He added that Russia would still cooperate with the United States where it answers Moscow’s interests. The Russian leader pointed at America’s past history
of slaughtering Native Americans and slavery, arguing that the painful legacy has weighed on the United States. “Otherwise where would the Black Lives Matter movement come from,” he said. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov deplored what he called “very bad remarks by the U.S. president” that made it clear that “he doesn’t want to normalize relations.” “We will proceed accordingly,” Peskov said in a conference call with reporters, noting that “there was nothing like that in history.” He wouldn’t answer if Russia could go as far as to rupture diplomatic ties with the United States.
Biden was asked in an interview whether he thought Russian President Vladimir Putin is a killer and said "I do." Russia on Wednesday announced it's recalling its ambassador in Washington for consultations.

Atlanta shootings: Suspect charged with murder as victims identified
HiIndia Newsdesk A man has been charged with murder over the killing of eight people at massage parlours in Atlanta, Georgia. Officials cannot yet confirm if the attack, in which six Asian women were killed, was racially motivated. Four victims were named on Wednesday. The suspect, named as Robert Aaron Long, faces multiple counts of murder as well as aggravated assault. Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds said the suspect may have been a patron and claimed to have a "sex addiction". The attack comes amid a sharp uptick in crimes against Asian-Americans.

North Korea ignores US offer for talks, citing its hostile policy
Joe Biden said "I do" when asked if he believed Putin — who some accuse of ordering the assassinations of his political opponents — was a killer. HiIndia Newsdesk
Russia has ordered its US ambassador to return to Moscow after President Joe Biden said he believed his Russian counterpart was a killer. Diplomats warn that relations are close to complete breakdown after Biden also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin would face retaliation for election interference. Joe Biden said “I do” when asked if he believed Putin — who some accuse of ordering the assassinations of his political opponents — was a killer. Biden also responded to questions about a US intelligence report that Putin tried to harm his candidacy in the November 2020 election in favor of Donald Trump’s. “He will pay a price,” said 78-year-old Biden. “You’ll see shortly.” Russia on Thursday said it had summoned its envoy home. “The Russian ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, has been invited to come to Moscow for consultations conducted with the aim of analyzing what should be done and where to go in the context of ties with the United States,” the Russian foreign ministry said.
HiIndia Newsdesk Facebook has agreed to pay Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp for its journalism content in Australia, a month after the social media platform temporarily blocked news links inside the country over legislation pressing digital giants to compensate publishers. The multi-year deal, announced on Tuesday, includes news content from major Murdoch conservative media outlets like The Australian, a national newspaper, and the news site news.com.au, as well as other metropolitan, regional and community publications. It comes a month after Google unveiled its own three-year global agreement with News Corp to pay for the publisher’s news content, and after Facebook backed down, under heavy criticism, from its drastic step of blocking the sharing or viewing of news links in Australia. Few details, including how much Facebook will pay News Corp for content, were released.
HiIndia Newsdesk North Korea said Thursday it will ignore a US offer for talks unless it withdraws its hostile policy on the North, days after Washington said it reached out to Pyongyang through various channels. The statement by Choe Son Hui, the first foreign minister, came hours before the top diplomats and defense chiefs of the United States and South Korea meet in Seoul in their first joint talks in five years to discuss North Korea’s nuclear programme. “We don’t think there is need to respond to the US delaying-time trick again,” Choe said in a statement carried by state media.

Covid vaccine: UK supply Keep using AstraZeneca Covid hit by India delivery delay shots to save lives: WHO
HiIndia Newsdesk An expected reduction in the UK's Covid vaccine supply in April is partly due to a delay in a delivery from India of five million Oxford-AstraZeneca doses.
The shipment, produced by the Serum Institute of India, has been held up by four weeks, the BBC has been told. Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said neither a single factory nor a country was responsible for supply issues. The Department of Health insists it is still on track to offer a first dose to all adults by the end of July. NHS England warned of a reduction in supply in April in a letter to local health organisations on Wednesday. The Scottish government said it was "seeking clarity" from the UK Vaccine Taskforce on future supplies, while the governments in Wales and Northern Ireland said they were examining how their own vaccine programmes could be affected.

I have never seen it anywhere else in the cricketing world . Nobody in Australia questions if Ricky Ponting’s team was better than Steve Waugh’s team. The cricket lovers there just relish their wins. We have learnt some fine things from the Aussies as to how to be competitive, never to give up and also some not so fine stuff like using bad language on the field. Maybe we should learn from them and the others in the cricketing world not to compare eras and the players and wins across them. The current team has been termed as the best ever in the history of Indian cricket. Does the same apply to Virat Kohli as captain? If not who will be India’s top-3
As many as 774 runs in his debut series against the West Indies, and 50 years on, the record remains intact. His following is still comparable to that of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Gavaskar, 71, spoke on a wide range of topics.
The Little Master provided the assurance and belief that brought about a dramatic change in the mindset of the cricketers
best ever Test captains? The old saying that a captain or coach is only as good as the team is so true. This Indian team is blessed to have so many game-changers with both bat and ball which very few previous Indian teams have had. They have a wonderful opportunity to seal the deal as the greatestever Indian team by winning in England and especially South Africa later in the year. Having won in Australia earlier in the year (Indian teams have triumphed in England in 1971, 1986, 2007), South Africa now remains the final frontier to conquer for this team. How has cricket administration changed in the last 50 years that you have witnessed international cricket? Just like the game improves with learning from experience, so also administration has got better over the years.

over five decades. Me and my elder brother Mujeebuddin learnt it from our father Shaik Mahboob, who first began selling radios which he used to bring from Bombay,” said Mohd. Moinuddin (70), while sitting and tinkering at an old radio set. The story of this old store in fact goes way before 1948, when the erstwhile state of Hyderabad was run by its last Nizam, Osman Ali Khan. Shaik Mahboob was in fact selling PVC pipes which he would import from Bombay. One fine day he brought back with him a radio, and the rest, as they say, is history. “After he brought back the radio with him and sold it, he got a few more pieces. Then he began learning how to fix those radios. In those times, you could only listen to the few channels that were there. Earlier, whenever we would turn on the radio, everyone would gather around to listen,” recalled Mr. Moinuddin. In Mahboob Radio Service, one can find all sorts of radios, be it a Phillips, Murphy, GEC, Johnson, Marconi, Telefunken.

If you take a step, your kids will learn the difference between right and the wrong, and grow stronger in life,” the actor said. She added that even today, people tell her that her decision to walk out of her marriage was wrong and that she should have thought about her kids.
“A lot of people said a lot of things to me. Even now they tell me I should have thought about my kids, my daughter. But because of what I did, my daughter has grown to be sensible, intelligent and strong. She understood the good and the bad,” the Mere Dad Ki Dulhan actor continued. But only you have to fight your battles on your own. I may not be there for you in every situation but you have to step-up for yourself and believe in yourself because until you won’t, people won’t. If you won’t fight your battle, people won’t trust your truth. They won’t help you. Whatever I have learned in my life, the experiences I have had, I want you to learn from them. 1. Basic breathing meditation
Meditation has long been encouraged by experts as an accessible and effective stress-management technique. But with the unprecedented task of working where you sleep, while juggling homeschooling your kids, washing endless dishes and navigating a scary news climate, more of us are in search of tactics to stay sane. Which means you finally may be willing to give meditation a try.
Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your heart. Slowly breathe in through your nose for four counts, slowly breathe out for four counts. This is best to do before bed or right when you wake. It will help you start your day with clarity, or end your day on a peaceful note.
2. Nostril breathing meditation Use your right thumb to plug your right nostril, breathe in through the left. Then plug your left nostril with your index finger and breathe out through the right nostril. Then breathe in through the right nostril, and out through the left. Keep alternating. This will help you balance your energy.
release and breathe back in. Hold the breath at the top, and then slowly breathe out pulling the naval back in and contracting the abs. Repeat this a few times.
5. Moving meditation Start in standing position with your palms together and take a deep breath in through the nose. Place one hand on your hip, lower the other arm and exhale as you bend to the side. Come back to center and inhale, and exhale to the other side. Repeat this, alternating sides each time and focusing on your breath.
3. Neck stretch meditation Drop your right ear to your right shoulder and slowly breathe in, and then blow out slowly through your mouth. Think about pushing out any and all tension. Repeat this four times total, then switch sides. This meditation can help to get rid of head and neck tension, and help you find your way to physical and mental serenity.
4. Abdominal meditation You can do this while waiting in line, or sitting at your desk. Bring your awareness to your mid-section by pulling the naval in towards the spine. Breathe out, hold the breathe at the bottom, and then slowly
T
his has not been a very good year for sleep. With the coronavirus pandemic, school and work disruptions and a contentious election season contributing to countless sleepless nights, sleep experts have encouraged people to adopt a variety of measures to overcome their stress-related insomnia. Among their recommendations: engage in regular exercise, establish a nightly bedtime routine and cut back on screen time and social media. But many people may be overlooking another important factor in poor sleep: diet. A growing body of research suggests that the foods you eat can affect how well you sleep, and your sleep patterns can affect your dietary choices. Researchers have found that eating a diet that is high in sugar, saturated fat and processed carbohydrates can disrupt your sleep, while eating more plants, fiber and foods rich in unsaturated fat — such as nuts, olive oil, fish and avocados — seems to have the opposite effect, helping to promote sound sleep. To get a better understanding of the relationship between diet and sleep, some researchers have turned to randomized controlled trials in which they tell participants what to eat and then look for changes in their sleep. A number of studies have looked at the impact of a diverse array of individual foods, from warm milk to fruit juice. But those studies often have been small and not very rigorous. One study funded by Zespri International, the world’s largest marketer of kiwi fruit, for example, found that people assigned to eat two kiwis an hour before their bedtime every night for four weeks had improvements in their sleep onset, duration and efficiency. The authors of the study attributed their findings in part to an “abundance” of antioxidants in kiwis. Studies show that eating protein-rich foods such as milk and turkey on their own actually decreases the ability of tryptophan

6. Tree pose meditation
These simple meditations will calm your mind in 60 seconds
How Foods May Affect Our Sleep A growing body of research suggests that the foods you eat can affect how well you sleep, and your sleep patterns can affect your dietary choices.
Top Foods That Help You Sleep Poultry – Chicken or turkey has tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid that you can only get from what you eat and drink. Fish – Vitamin B6 is abundant in fish, with salmon, tuna, and halibut having the most. By eating fish for dinner, you can give that melatonin a head start before turning out the lights. Yogurt – Calcium processes the hormones that help you sleep, tryptophan and melatonin. Other things you can try are milk or cheese and crackers Kale – Like yogurt, this leafy green is also rich in calcium which is important in
making those sleep hormones go to work. Bananas – They are high in potassium which helps to keep you asleep throughout the night. Whole Grains – These grains encourage insulin production that result in tryptophan activity in the brain. Honey – Glucose in honey lowers levels of orexin, a neurotransmitter in the brain that makes you more alert. Nuts – This includes walnuts, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds. These all boost serotonin levels by having magnesium and tryptophan.
Plant one foot firmly on the ground, turn your opposite knee out and press your foot into your ankle, calf or above your knee. Place palms together and focus on slowly breathing in and out. If you're having trouble balancing, choose a point on the ground and fix your eyes there. Breathe here for 60 seconds. to cross the blood-brain barrier. People tend to fall asleep much faster at night when they consume a highcarbohydrate diet compared to when they consume a high-fat or high-protein diet. That may have something to do with carbs helping tryptophan cross into the brain more easily. Eating carbs may help you fall asleep faster, but it is best to consume “complex” carbs that contain fiber, which may help you obtain more deep, restorative sleep. One example of a dietary pattern that may be optimal for better sleep is the Mediterranean diet, which emphasizes such foods as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, seafood, poultry, yogurt, herbs and spices and olive oil. Large observational studies have found that people who follow this type of dietary pattern are less likely to suffer from insomnia and short sleep, though more research is needed to confirm the correlation. But the relationship between poor diet and bad sleep is a two-way street: Scientists have found that as people lose sleep, they experience physiological changes that can nudge them to seek out junk food. In clinical trials, healthy adults who are allowed to sleep only four or five hours a night end up consuming more calories and snacking more frequently throughout the day. They experience significantly more hunger and their preference for sweet foods increases. Habitually short sleepers who went through a program to help them sleep longer — resulting in their getting roughly an hour of additional sleep each night — had improvements in their diet. The most striking change was that they cut about 10 grams of added sugar from their diets each day, the equivalent of about two and a half teaspoons. “The best way to approach health is to emphasize a healthy diet and healthy sleep,” she added. “These are two very important health behaviors that can reinforce each other.”

oogle Chrome is ditching thirdparty cookies for good. If all goes according to plan then future updates to the world’s most popular web browser will rewrite the rules of online advertising and make it far harder to track the web activity of billions of people. But it’s not that simple. What seems like a big win for privacy may, ultimately, only serve to tighten Google’s grip on the advertising industry and web as a whole. Critics and regulators argue the move risks putting smaller advertising firms out of business and could harm websites that rely on adverts to make money. For most people, the change will be invisible but, behind the scenes, Google is planning to put Chrome in control of some of the advertising process. To do this it plans to use browser-based machine learning to log your browsing history and lump people into groups alongside others with similar interests. “They're going to get rid of the infrastructure that allows individualised tracking and profiling on the web,” says Bennett Cyphers, a technologist at civil liberties group the Electronic Frontier Foundation. “They're going to replace it with something that still allows targeted advertising – just doing it a different way.” Google’s plan to replace third-party cookies comes from its Privacy Sandbox, a set of proposals for improving online adverts without obliterating the ad industry. Aside from getting rid of third-party cookies the Privacy Sandbox also deals with issues such

The online advertising industry is, to put it mildly, unwieldy. It comprises billions of data points about all of our lives that are automatically traded every second of every day. Such a substantial change to this system will impact a raft of businesses, from brands advertising products and services online to the ad tech networks and news organisations that propel those ads to every corner of the web. The Privacy Sandbox proposals are complicated and technical. Google is already testing some while others remain firmly at the development stage. Privacy Sandbox is documented online and Google has altered its plans based on feedback and counter-proposals from rivals. The best instant camera to buy Apple starts assembly of in the hope of summer plans iPhone 12 in India Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1
Film: Instax Square | Dimensions: 130.7 x 118.6 x 57.5mm | Weight: 500g | Focusing distance: 0.3m – infinity | Battery: 2 x CR2. Bringing the ease of Instax film to a bigger, squareshaped print, the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1 (£111) is a real joy to use. It’s a bit of a unit, but the minimalistic design is cool, while the heft and matte feel of the plastic give it a nice feel. It comes in three Instagram-friendly hues - Glacier Blue, Terracotta Orange, Chalk White - and sports a twist-out lens, which also acts as the power switch. The ‘One-Touch Selfie Mode’ involves rotating the lens round an extra click to set the best focus and exposure for your close-up.
Polaroid Now Film: iType, 600 | Dimensions: 94 x 112.2 x 150.2mm | Weight: 500g | Focusing distance: 0.55m-1.3m; 0.6m-infinity | Battery: Rechargeable with supplied Micro USB cable An evolution of the the original 1970s Polaroid OneStep with its distinctive rainbow stripe, the Polaroid Now (£114) is a 21st century take on the OG instant camera. The Now works with Polaroid i-Type or 600 film, both of which were previously made by Impossible Project and now sold under the Polaroid moniker. The film is very sensitive to light so it needs to be shielded as you take it out from the camera’s ‘tongue’ which unfurls along with the print to keep it covered. This makes shooting a slightly delicate process. Controls are pleasingly simply – on the front, you’ll find the shutter button and the timer button which means you can snap hands-free selfies. The timer button also serves as a double exposure control – just press it twice and you can capture two shots on the same frame for an artsy effect.

HiIndia Newsdesk Apple Inc is commencing assembly of its iPhone 12 model in the country, a move that is expected to help the US tech giant further consolidate its position in the burgeoning smartphone market in India. Apple has partnered with third-party manufacturers like Foxconn and Wistron to make some of its phones in India. These include iPhone SE, iPhone XR and iPhone 11. “Apple is dedicated to making the best products and services in the world to delight our customers…We are proud to be starting production of iPhone 12 in India for our local customers,” Apple said in a statement. While the Cupertino-based company did not name the supplier partners, sources said Foxconn will be making the iPhone 12 at a facility in Tamil Nadu. Comments from Foxconn could not be immediately elicited. Apple had started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with iPhone SE. n a tweet, Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “Nice to see our efforts to make India a big hub of mobile and components manufacturing is attracting global attention. This will create jobs in large numbers.”

MS Dhoni's Bald Look Sparks A Meme Fest On Twitter
Through the course of his career, MS Dhoni has sported several hairstyles - but his latest look has left fans confused. Ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, a photo of the Chennai Super Kings captain with a shaved head surfaced online and quickly became fodder for some hilarious memes. The now-viral Dhoni picture was originally shared by official broadcaster of IPL, Star Sports, on Twitter this Saturday. The picture shows the veteran cricketer with a bald look and a somber expression on his face, dressed in blue robes that reminded many viewers of a monk's habit. Dhoni appears to be sitting on a log of wood in a green area, and a small caption on the photo reads: "Set up in a martial arts training camp."

Bill Gates dropped out of Har vard after two years to start Microsoft the business that would make him a millionaire at 26, and then the world's richest person - a title he held for several years. Mr Gates told Harvard students during an interactive session in 2018 that he wished he had been more sociable during his time at the university. "I wish I had gotten to know more people," he said. The Academy Award-winning Amer ic an ac tor Matt Damon enrolled in Harvard as an English major but dropped out of the Ivy League institute just one s emester b efore he could receive his degree. While at Harvard, Damon wrote an early treatment of the screenplay for Good Will Hunting, for which he later received an Oscar.
Mark Zuckerberg attended Harvard between 2002 and 2004, studying psycholog y and computer science. It was here that he created the software for Facemash - a controversial website that allowed students select the best-looking person from a choice of photos. It was also in Harvard that Mark Zuckerberg launched "Thefacebook" (which was later renamed Facebook)
American author David Foster Wallace is best known for his 1996 novel Infinite Jest, but not many know that is another person who dropped out of Harvard. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Mr Wallace went on to study philosophy at Harvard, but dropped out after half a semester.

"Will Raise It When Required": Government On Oxford Student Row India "can never ever turn our eyes away from racism", Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar said in parliament today after a BJP leader raised the topic of Rashmi Samant, the Indian student who resigned as the president of the Oxford University's student union last month after controversy over some of her past remarks and references which were branded as "racist" and "insensitive". The minister said India will raise such matters with Britain "when required". Ashwini Vaishnav, a BJP Rajya Sabha member from Odisha, told the Foreign Minister in the upper house: "I want to bring the attention of the House to a shared global concern about racism.
There appears to be a continuation of attitudes and prejudices from the colonial era especially in UK." He pointed out that Ms Samant, 22, was the first Indian woman to be elected as the president of the univeristy's student's body. "Her diversity should have been celebrated but instead of that she was cyberbullied to the point that she had to resign and even the Hindu religious beliefs of her parents were publicly attacked by a faculty member and that also went unpunished. If this is the kind of treatment that happens at the highest institute like Oxford what is the message that goes out to the world?" Mr Vaishnav said.

he government and Parliament have great respect for farmers who are voicing their views on the three farm bills, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday, and asserted that he holds their agitation ‘sacred’, while making a fresh appeal to agitating farmers to resume talks with the Centre. In his reply in Lok Sabha to a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address,
Modi staunchly defended the three contentious farms laws and made it clear that the new system under these laws was not compulsory and only provided more options. He also attacked the opposition parties for ‘misleading’ farmers, saying those who are disrupting the House are doing so as per a ‘wellplanned strategy’ as they are unable to digest that people can see the truth.
