Blunder On Pamphlet Explains Why Punctuation Is Important Sana Khan gets married

nushka Sharma has always managed to be in positive spirits and is always at her happiest. The diva who is currently expecting her baby with hubby and captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli, stepped out of him to commence work. The actress who has been sporting lovely traditional outfits for a while now and doing maternity style right stepped out for an ad shoot in the city and put a different foot forward. For her shoot, Anushka Sharma looked radiant in a teal green dress which featured one strap that went around her shoulder. The fit-and-flare style dress was airy enough for her to breathe. While stepping out of her vanity van, the diva cradled her baby bump carefully. She kept her look simple and stepped out sans accessories. Tan sandals made for a contrasting effect against her simple outfit. Her black cropped hair was styled in a poker-straight glossy manner adding some glamour to her look. Kohl-lined eyes and a simple white mask completed her look for the shoot. We love how the colour of the outfit perfectly complimented her skin tone. The actress is surely giving us some maternity style goals in this look that we love from head to toe!

“Winter season is the time to introduce skin oils to your daily skin routine. These natural oils give your skin targeted cellular nutrients for effective skin cell function while hydrating your skin at the same time,” explains the doctor.

We’re at war with virus, Kim Jong Un likely to let his missiles not each other: Biden do the talking with Joe Biden

President-elect cites death of his son to say that he Kim Jong Un is one of the few world leaders who has yet to congratulate -- or even acknowledge understands the losses Americans are suffering -- the president-elect, particularly after Chinese President Xi Jinping did so on Wednesday.

HiIndia Newsdesk President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr on Wednesday delivered a raw but optimistic address to Americans in his first non-political speech since winning the election, pleading with the nation to “hang on” and have hope even with the number of coronavirus cases spiking across the country and a hard winter on the horizon. “Looking back over our history, you see that it’s been in the most difficult circumstances that the soul of our nation has been forged,” Biden said, speaking directly to the camera from a stage at the Queen, a historic theatre in Wilmington, Delaware, where he stepped into a void left for him by President Trump, who has been rarely seen since the election. In an implicit repudiation of Trump, who has dismissed the coronavirus as the flu and mocked people who wear masks, Biden urged Americans to see it as their patriotic duty to fight the pandemic together by taking the proper precautions. “I know the country has grown weary of the fight,” he said. “We need to remember we’re at war with the virus, not with one another, not with each other.”

Trump says will leave White House, but under one condition

HiIndia Newsdesk US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he would concede if the Electoral College elected Presidentelect Joe Biden, and would leave the White House. But he vowed to continue pursuing poll fraud allegations until then, undeterred by the dismal impact of his lawsuits and challenges. “Certainly, I will, and you know that,” Trump said when asked by reporters if he will leave the White House, which has become a concern as he has refused to acknowledge the outcome despite losing to Biden by a wide margin of 306-232 in Electoral College votes, and by over 5 million popular votes. Trump has not conceded yet. But he told reporters after the traditional Thanksgiving messages to US armed forces that he will if the Electoral College elected Biden. “It’s going to be a very hard thing to concede,” he said, adding, “If they do, they made a mistake.” Americans don’t vote to directly elect their president. They choose electors instead, who are granted to the presidential nominee that wins the popular vote in that state in a winner-takes-all system, except in two states. Most election cycles, this would have been a pro forma next step — on the second Monday after the second Wednesday in December, electors endorse the nominee projected to win. Trump is trying to subvert the process and use this stage to further delay the inevitable. The electors will meet in their respective states on December 8 to elect the president. And on the basis of the current projected count — pending complete certification of results by all states — Biden will win 306 of the 528 total votes, to Trump’s 232. Trump had won the 2016 election with the same count and had bragged of it as a landslide.

HiIndia Newsdesk North Korea has greeted the last two US presidents with tests of missiles or nuclear bombs within weeks of taking office. And experts see the same happening with Joe Biden, whom the regime has called “a rabid dog.” Kim Jong Un is one of the few world leaders who has yet to congratulate -- or even acknowledge -- the presidentelect, particularly after Chinese President Xi Jinping did so on Wednesday. While it’s not unusual for North Korea to stay silent on the results of US elections, Kim held unprecedented meetings with President Donald Trump that broke the mold of relations between the long-time adversaries. Ties now are poised to revert to the frostier days of the Obama administration, when the US deployed “strategic patience” to avoid rewarding North Korea for provocations -- a policy that stayed in place after Kim took power in

Donald Trump says coronavirus vaccine Joe Biden unveils his deliveries to begin next week security team nominees HiIndia Newsdesk US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that delivery of the coronavirus vaccine would begin next week and the week after. Speaking to US troops overseas via video link to mark the Thanksgiving holiday, Trump said the vaccine would initially be send to front-line workers, medical personnel and senior citizens.

Penguin to buy Schuster & Schuster for over $2bn

HiIndia Newsdesk President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr’s transition began in earnest on Tuesday, after President Trump authorised intelligence agencies to begin briefing his successor on classified information delivered in the President’s Daily Brief, and transition teams started communicating with their counterparts in agencies throughout the federal government. Biden also formally announced top members of his national security team on Tuesday in Wilmington, Delaware. “Our teams can prepare to meet the challenges at hand,” he said. “To control the pandemic, to build back better, and to protect the safety and security of the American people.”

US Supreme Court backs religious groups over New York caps

HiIndia Newsdesk The biggest book publisher in the US is about to get bigger. ViacomCBS has agreed to sell Simon & Schuster to Penguin Random House for more than $2 billion in a deal that will create the first megapublisher. Penguin Random House, the largest book publisher in the US, is owned by the German media conglomerate Bertelsmann. Adding Simon & Schuster, the third largest publisher, would create a book behemoth, a combination that could trigger antitrust concerns. The deal includes provisions that would protect ViacomCBS in the event that a sale is squashed by authorities. Bertelsmann would pay what is known as a termination fee if the deal does not go through. The sale of the company will profoundly reshape the publishing industry, increasingly a winner-take-all business in which the largest companies compete for brand-name authors and guaranteed best-sellers. The book business has seen wave after wave of consolidation in the past decade, with the merger of Penguin and Random House in 2013, News Corp’s purchase of the romance publisher Harlequin, and Hachette Book Group’s acquisition of Perseus Books.

HiIndia Newsdesk The US Supreme Court has temporarily blocked New York from enforcing attendance limits at places of worship in areas hit hard by coronavirus. In a 5-4 vote, the court ruled that the state's congregational cap violated rights to religious freedom. In an unsigned order, it said the rules "single[d] out houses of worship for especially harsh treatment." This was one of the first consequential rulings since conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett was appointed. President Donald Trump appointed her to replace liberal predecessor Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died in September. Justice Barrett voted in the majority, along with other Trump appointees Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. The three liberal justices dissented, as did conservative Chief Justice John Roberts. Earlier this year, before Justice Ginsburg's death, the court voted to leave similar restrictions in place in California and Nevada.

HiIndia Newsdesk New Delhi: Nearly seven per cent of India's population aged ten and above was exposed to SARS-CoV-2, amounting to an estimated 74.3 million infections by August, with the seroprevalence being highest in urban slum areas followed by urban non-slum and rural areas, the findings of ICMR's second national serosurvey stated. According to the findings which have appeared in the Lancet Global Health preprint, the overall seroprevalence of below 10 per cent in India indicates that a large proportion of the population remains susceptible to novel coronavirus infection, PTI reported. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca is likely to conduct an additional global trial to assess the efficacy of its COVID-19 vaccine, according to the company's chief executive officer, after current studies raised questions over its level of protection.

Paris police officers suspended over beating of black music producer

HiIndia Newsdesk French authorities have suspended three police officers after they were seen on video beating up a black music producer in central Paris. The incident on Saturday has prompted a fresh outcry over the conduct of French security forces. On Monday police were accused of using unnecessary force as they dismantled a makeshift migrant camp in Paris. The incidents come as the government tries to bring in laws banning the broadcast of police officers' faces. Critics of the legislation say that without such images, none of the incidents which took place over the past week would

have come to light. French football star Kylian Mbappe, who is black, joined national teammates and fellow athletes in condemning the latest incident. "Unbearable video, unacceptable violence. Say no to racism," he wrote on Twitter next to a picture of the bloodied face of the injured producer, who has been named only as Michel. The security camera video was published on Thursday by the online news site Loopsider. It shows three officers kicking, punching and using their truncheons on the man after he entered his studio. Loopsider said he had initially been stopped for not wearing a mask.

The system will be reviewed every two weeks, with the first review scheduled for 16 December - so an area's tier level may change before Christmas. However, it means 55 million people will remain banned from mixing with other households indoors after the lockdown ends. More than a third of England's population, including large parts of the Midlands, North East and North West, as well as Kent, will be in the highest level - tier three.

It is in bad taste and BJP leaders should refrain from such divisive statements,” said Jameela Nishath of Shaheen Women Resource and Welfare Association. BJP State president Bandi Sanjay’s ‘surgical strike’ comment has only worsened matters, with people wondering how low could a politician stoop for the sake of votes and publicity. “It also shows his poor knowledge of the functioning of the GHMC. A leader should be more mature and not indulge in smear campaigns for the sake of sensation without validation. It is shameful that people holding responsible positions are running campaigns to spread unrest,” lamented Maqdoom Ali Khan of MK Educational Society. “Hyderabad is known for its Ganga Jamuna Tehzeeb. In the last few years, things have drastically changed in the older parts of the city. It is no more a place where any group is suppressed as repeatedly claimed by the BJP. People are looking forward to grow and live happily,” says R Raju Mudiraj, a resident of Chandrayangutta.

Virat Kohli, R Ashwin nominated for ICC Men’s Player of the Decade award

The tempestuous Argentine who became one of football’s greatest players with a roguish cunning and extravagant control while pursuing a personal life rife with drug and alcohol abuse and health problems, died on Wednesday in Tigre, Argentina. He was 60. His spokesman Sebastián Sanchi said the cause was a heart attack. Argentina’s government declared three days of national mourning. A pall descended on the world of football. Maradona had been admitted to a clinic in La Plata, Argentina, on November 2 — three days after his 60th birthday — experiencing what his doctor, Leopoldo Luque, described as depression, anaemia and dehydration. The next day Dr Luque told reporters that Maradona had a subdural haematoma — bleeding that collects in tissues surrounding the brain and can be caused by a head injury — and would undergo surgery.

Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin were nominated for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s Player of the Decade award in a seven-player list on Tuesday. Apart from Kohli and Ashwin, Joe Root (England), Kane Williamson (New Zealand), Steve Smith (Australia), AB de Villiers (South Africa), and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) were also nominated for this accolade.

BCCI asks CA to relax quarantine for Rohit, Ishant

The haematoma was most likely caused by an accident that Maradona could not remember, Dr Luque said, according to Associated Press.

Australian Open 2021 likely to be delayed by couple of weeks

Diego Maradona's Hand of God

At the end of the first half, although Argentina had higher possession, they had not breached the resolute English defence. Little did the English know then, what was to befall in the second half. The game resumed and only six minutes into the half came what was to to be known as the "Hand of God". English midfielder Steve Hodge tried to clear a ball away from the box but hooked the ball to Maradona. Shilton came out of his goal to punch the ball clear. But Maradona, reached it first and with his left hand guided the ball to the net. Tunisian referee Ali Bin Nasser claimed he did not see the offence and allowed the goal, although the English players strongly appealed for a handball. At the post-match press conference, Maradona said that the goal came from "the head of Maradona and the hand of God." Just four minutes after that goal, however, came another goal-- one that is often hailed to be the greatest individual goal of all time. Argentina midfielder Hector Enrique passed the ball to Maradona who dashed towards the English goal, passing four outfield players. He finished the move with a fake that left Shilton on his rear, before shooting the ball into the net to make it 2-0.

Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma could play a part in the Test series in Australia as the BCCI is now in talks with Cricket Australia (CA) as regards to a relaxation in the quarantine rules for the players. According to a BCCI official, if the rules are relaxed, then Rohit and Ishant might reach Australia in time to be available for India’s second and final tour game, against Australia ‘A’ in Sydney from December 11 to 13. As per the Australian government’s general Covid protocol, a 14-day quarantine period is necessary upon reaching Australia. “BCCI is in talks with CA, which in turn is negotiating with the Australian government about a relaxation in the quarantine rules (for the two players). If the rules are relaxed, then both Rohit and Ishant could be available for the (second) tour game,” a BCCI official told

Be strong, Virat Kohli advice to Mohammed Siraj

Victoria sports minister Martin Pakula said on Wednesday that the Australian Open 2021 might get delayed by "a week or two" due to the coronavirus crisis in the state, sports minister Martin Pakula said. The first Grand Slam of the year is scheduled to be played between January 18-31 with Tennis Australia assuring that the tournament will be held on time next year. But Victoria sports and tourism minister Pakula said negotiations between various levels of governments and tennis officials were close to a conclusion and that the season-opening Grand Slam is likely to be delayed. “There’s a number of potential dates on the table. I’ve seen reports that suggest that it’s likely to be delayed by a week or two. I think that’s still most likely. But it’s not the only option. As you know, the French Open was delayed by many months and Wimbledon didn’t occur at all.

"I still think it’s much more likely that it will be a shorter rather than longer delay. I don’t want to unduly repeat myself but these are very complex negotiations,” Pakula said Wednesday. Negotiations with health authorities over the details of that quarantine were close to a conclusion, Pakula said. “The quarantine requirements will be those that are ultimately agreed with the public health (authorities) and then it will be a matter for the ATP and the WTA about whether or not they are acceptable,” he added. “An extremely rigorous testing regime will apply to the players both before they leave the port that they come in from and when they arrive.” Victoria’s Premier Dan Andrews, who on Wednesday celebrated the state’s 25th day without a new COVID-19 case, said he was confident the tournament would go ahead but that players would have to undergo quarantine.

Away from family while grieving the recent loss of his father, India pacer Mohammed Siraj said captain Virat Kohli’s advice to “be strong” has helped him stay afloat as he gears up for a gruelling series against Australia. “Viratbhai said, ‘Miyaan, tension mat le (don’t be tense) and be strong. Your dad wanted you to play for India. So, do that and don’t stress,”’ the 26-year-old Siraj told bcci.tv on the sidelines of India’s training session here. “The skipper told me, ‘If you can be strong in this situation, it will only help you’. So those were positive words from the Indian captain and it felt nice.” “It’s a huge loss for me as he was the biggest support system of my life. “He wanted me to shine for my country and my mindset now is to fulfil his dreams,” Siraj said.

On 26/11 Mumbai terror attack’s 12th anniversary, two key Chicago plotters hit headlines again

David Headley managed to travel to India at will without once arousing suspicions among the Indian authorities not just in India but even at the Indian consulate here in Chicago. By Mayank Chhaya Special to Hi India

A

s Indian media speculation swirls around his whereabouts at best and whether he is alive at worst, the once Chicago resident David Coleman Headley, a key plotter behind the November 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, is yet again in the headlines. As is his childhood friend from Pakistan,

prosecutors have stepped up their effort to clear way for Rana to stand trial in India. New Delhi has always viewed Rana’s role in the Mumbai massacre as more than what came out during the 2011 court hearing in a Chicago federal court. Even though Rana was not convicted for any involvement in the Mumbai attacks, investigators in India have always linked him as much as Headley. US prosecutors are yet again calling him a behind-the-

according to Indian investigators who believe he could be even more important than Headley. Rana and Headley worked in tandem, both using Chicago as their base. India had tried Rana in absentia in a Delhi court where he was convicted to serve 14 years in the country. The National Investigation Agency of India believes that with Rana’s sentence ending his extradition is feasible. Although Rana was not

authorities which took an unusually long time in alerting India. Indian intelligence sources have claimed that even that heads-up from the US was vague in nature and not actionable. The curious part is that with his kind of murky affiliations at best Headley managed to travel to India at will without once arousing suspicions among the Indian authorities not just in India but even at the Indian consulate here

Meanwhile, wild speculation has continued over the fate of David Headley also known as Daood Gilani since his name does not show up in the Bureau of Prisons database. The speculation swings between him being hidden away to him being dead following an attack on him in a Chicago facility in 2018. Headley’s attorney John Theis has denied the report. One of the many enduring questions about Headley has been his five trips to India in September 2006, February and September 2007 and April and July 2008 as part of detailed scouting targets in Mumbai and fiendishly meticulous planning. During much of that period he was known to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and had been recruited as its informant on drug cartels in AfghanistanPakistan region. Some reports even say he might have had some US intelligence links. His being a DEA informant meant that there was a detailed dossier on him with the US

in Chicago. The extent and nature of the work he did for the DEA has never been particularly clear. That notwithstanding if the US authorities had any inkling that Headley might have turned during his many trips to Pakistan, some as part of his DEA work, and become sympathetic to the anti-India cause espoused by terror groups such as the LeT, they should have informed India much earlier. One view is that the US authorities too failed to see that Headley had turned even while using his DEA cover. The change of his name from Daood Gilani to David Coleman Headley was explained by US prosecutors during his testimony in a Chicago federal court as part of a well thought out strategy to travel to India without arousing suspicion. After his arrest in 2009 at Chicago’s O’Hare airport, he quickly turned US government witness in exchange for taking his extradition to India and the death penalty off the table. He was sentenced to 35 years unlike his childhood friend Rana who was sentenced to 14 years for charges not directly related to the Mumbai attacks.

Meanwhile, some reports suggest that Rana’s radition is likely to begin in January. The fact at he was convicted only for plotting a terrorist ack on the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten for blishing an offensive cartoon has not deterred the A from holding the view that his involvement in e Mumbai case. In reference the 26/11’s 12th anniversary on hursday, Cale Brown, deputy spokesperson of the ate Department, was quoted as saying, “Through e Rewards for Justice program, we seek to ensure at all those responsible for this heinous attack face tice.” He added, “On the 12the anniversary of the 26/11 umbai attack, the US reaffirms its commitment to lding the perpetrators accountable and ensuring tice for the victims, including six Americans. anding alongside our Indian partners, we remain olute in the fight against terrorism. Hi India’s efforts to track Headley’s whereabouts d fate too did not lead to anything clear. ] Chicago travel agent Tahawwur Rana, was convicted by a federal jury of supporting terrorism and providing material support to the Pakistani organization known as Lashkar-e-Taiba, an al Qaeda offshoot. Although Rana, 58, a Canadian national, claimed he was framed by Headley and an innocent man, he is serving a 14-year sentence at the federal Terminal Island prison in San Pedro, California. His release date is Sept. 21, 2021.

NIA says ‘progress’ in Rana extradition proceedings U.S court pushes proceedings to Feb. 2021 There was some “progress” in the extradition proceedings of Tahawwur Rana, key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, a senior NIA official said on Friday, even though a U.S court postponed the extradition hearing to February 12, 2021. The hearings were earlier stated to begin January 8. On September 28, the federal prosecutors of the U.S. filed a fresh “extradition memorandum” in the district court of California regarding Rana’s extradition for “conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists” and other sections such as “conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim or injure persons or damage property in a foreign country” and “damaging a building by using explosives.” The 56-page plea filed by Attorney Nicola T. Hanna said the extradition proceedings were “sui generis (unique)” in nature. The plea filed by India says Rana is wanted for “conspiracy to wage war” and “cheating.” The Pakistani-Canadian citizen has challenged the extradition and filed a plea in the U.S court on November 25, court records show. Rana, who is currently lodged in a jail in the U.S., was arrested in 2009 for providing material support to Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that planned and executed the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which claimed 166 lives, including six Americans. He is serving a 14-year imprisonment after he was convicted for providing material support to the LeT

in 2013 and since he has been imprisoned since 2009, the jail term would also include the period he had served in prison.Rana, a Chicago based businessman, helped David Coleman Headley, the prime suspect in the Mumbai attacks, to open an immigration firm in Mumbai that was used as a cover to conduct reconnaissance on possible targets that were attacked on November 26, 2008. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which was raised after the 26/11 attacks, has registered a case of forgery, criminal conspiracy, murder and various sections under the anti- terror UAPA in the case. ‘Double jeopardy’ clause As the ‘double jeopardy’ clause in the U.S. law prohibits punishment for the same crime twice, India had tweaked its request to seek Rana’s custody on the ground that he was actively involved in planning an attack on the National Defence College in Delhi and Chabad Houses (Jewish religious centres) in several Indian cities in 2009. In June last, the U.S authorities informed their Indian counterparts about the provisional arrest of Rana. He was released from prison in the U.S on June 10 after he was granted bail on compassionate grounds on testing positive for COVID-19.According to the India-U.S. Extradition Treaty of 1997, Rana can only be extradited to be tried in a case registered by a federal agency- in this case the NIA, to unearth the conspiracy of several such crimes, including 26/11.

We have stopped making movies about the marginalised section of our society

Prakash Jha

“We have stopped making movies about the marginalised section of our society. Under the shadow of progress, living on the construction sites or under a bridge, these people struggle to make their ends meet. The script reminded me of my movie Damul (1985),” says Jha. Set in Bihar, Damul (Bonded Until Death) is the story of a bonded labourer who is forced to steal for his landlord. Most of Jha’s movies touch upon social-political issues. His other directorial ventures include Mrityudand (1997), Gangaajal (2003), Aarakshan (2011) and Raajneeti (2010). Prakash Jha was in for a surprise when he realised that Gani wanted him to play the protagonist. “Matto is subservient and mild-mannered. But Gani thought I could understand Matto. As an actor, playing this role was a challenge for me. I had to spend about 20 days in Mathura to prepare for the role,” says Jha, who has earlier acted in feature films Saand Ki Aankh (2019) and Jai Gangaajal (2016). Eventually, Jha not only acted as Matto but also co-produced the film.

Mandana said, “I am still in shock about what happened and how it happened. Koka Kola is a film that we have been working on for over a year now, and it’s been one of those jobs that you do despite knowing that the team is not being very professional. We all end up doing a few such jobs to just keep ourselves afloat. From the beginning, I had problems with this crew. The producer (Mahendra Dhariwal) is an oldschool man who turns the set into a man-dominated, egoistic place.” Mandana Karimi revealed that she was called names and screamed at in front of the crew. Mandana concluded that this was ‘mental harassment.’ Meanwhile, producer Mahendra Dhariwal told Bombay Times that it was Mandana who was unprofessional and declined to do her job despite being paid in full. Dhariwal said he was forced to give the actor an ‘earful’ after she ‘started acting up.’ “In one-and-a-half years, for a contract of Rs 7 lakh, she has taken Rs 17 lakh, cash transactions included. I am okay with spending the money, but she has behaved unprofessionally with us,” the producer said.

Bicchoo Ka Khel review: Looks like Mirzapur redux

Tenet to release in India on December 4

Christopher Nolan’s science-fiction thriller Tenet finally has a India release date. It will hit theatres in the country on December 4. The film, starring John David Washington, Kenneth Branagh, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, and Michael Caine, involves a concept called inversion, which is said to be a sort of communication with the future. Washington’s character, called The Protagonist, is tasked with saving the world from World War III, and it is not Armageddon the world is facing, we are told, but something worse. Dimple Kapadia made the announcement about the release date through the official Twitter handle of Warner Bros India. She teased that the film has some spectacular action sequences and twists that are best enjoyed on the big screen.

In Bicchoo Ka Khel, the action has moved to nearby Banaras, so you get the picturesque ‘ghats’ and the ‘maha-arti’, the ‘khanakdaar leheja’ and the ‘paan-stuffed boli’, but the ‘gaalis’ and ‘golis’ are so familiar that we look around for bossman Pankaj Tripathi and his cohorts to join in the shooting and scooting. But in this, it is Divyenndu who leads the parade of colourful cops and canny criminals, the moneybags and their deals, the oversexed wives and sexy girl-friends, making Bicchoo Ka Khel just one more in the long line of web series coasting on the badlands of East UP, now so similar as to be interchangeable.

Johnny Depp poses behind bars while accepting a Camerimage award

Johnny Depp sent a written letter to accept the award, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He said the relationship between the actor and cinematographer is "pivotal one". Actor Johnny Depp has posed for a strange photo in which he can be seen behind bars while accepting an award at the virtually-held Camerimage Festival 2020. The photo was shared by the official Instagram account of the festival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp sent a written letter to accept the award. He said the relationship between the actor and cinematographer is “pivotal one” and added, “You might even say the most important, considering cinema, more than anything, is a visual medium.” Depp was recently removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner Bros after he lost his libel case against the UK newspaper The Sun for referring to him as a “wifebeater”. The Sun had also claimed that Depp physically abused his ex-wife Amber Heard when they were married. Johnny Depp, who played the primary antagonist Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, has said that he will appeal the verdict.

The mom-to-be looked glamorous in a lovely one-shoulder teal green gown as she stepped out to shoot for an advertisement in the city

A O

ne needs to keep in mind that skincare is not just about applying the best products, but also about taking care of your body internally. Dr Geeta Grewal, a cosmetic surgeon shares some key points; read on.

Stick to the basics from your kitchen

Dr Grewal suggests you start with the basics. “Keep yourself hydrated with warm sips of apple orange cinnamon star anise, and honey concoction or your favourite warm soups.” For your cleanser, choose a hydrating soap-free variant. If you want to treat your skin on weekends, stick to the kitchen basics. “Morning face packs comprising aloe vera gel, honey, milk and glycerine, will make for a soothing, hydrating, calming experience that you can indulge in once or twice a week.” This winter season, ditch manufactured skincare products. “Papaya, pineapple, spinach are great for mild exfoliation to get the dead sticky clumping cells off your skin; these improve texture and tone, as well,” Dr Grewal says.

nushka Sharma has always managed to be in positive spirits and is always at her happiest.

Sana Khan gets married in a lovely traditional red and gold lehenga

Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "Loved each other for the sake of Allah. Married each other for the sake of Allah."

Add skin or facial oils

“Winter season is the time to introduce skin oils to your daily skin routine. These natural oils give your skin targeted cellular nutrients for effective skin cell function while hydrating your skin at the same time,” explains the doctor.

Simple and effective ways to cut down on sugar

Why does sugar consumption need a check?

Lifestyle conditions like diabetes and blood sugar have seen an increase owing to excessive sugar consumption. Which is why it is advised to avoid foods with high amounts of added and free sugars, and instead opt for foods with natural or inherent sugars, as it is considered acceptable as long as they are not overly consumed.

Avoid sneaky sugars

Swap your carbonated sweetened beverages with coconut water, buttermilk and fruit smoothies or fruit juices.

Choose fresh over packaged

Consume fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables over canned ones.

Dress up your breakfast rather than sweetening it

Add dates, raisins and figs or even yoghurt to your breakfast porridge instead of adding sugars or sweeteners.

Pick chutney over sauce

Replace bottled sauces and ketchup with fresh homemade chutneys

3 things you’re probably doing Is It Safe To Travel During The Holidays? that can make you obese Expert Gives Safety Tips You Must Follow No wonder then that obesity is something that needs to be tackled. The best way to tackle it would be to know what causes it so that appropriate changes can be made. Here are three things that can cause obesity:

1. HAVING IRREGULAR MEALTIMES What time do you have lunch every day? If you don’t have a clear answer to that, you need to regularise your mealtimes. We all have to delay or prepone mealtimes once in a while but doing so regularly can be harmful. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition stated that those who take their meals at irregular timings tend to be hungrier more often. What’s more, it also puts them at risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and metabolic syndrome as their body’s internal clock is not able to regularise natural processes like digestion, appetite, and insulin production. 2. NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER Majority of us are guilty of this, aren’t we? We try to follow the eightglasses-of-water rule for a day before giving up and at times, even apps that remind us to drink water aren’t of much help. The thing is that water is extremely important for us not only because it keeps us hydrated but also because it helps us feel more full which helps us avoid overeating. A study published in the European Journal of Nutrition observed that those who drank water before breakfast consumed fewer calories. 3. SITTING FOR TOO LONG This isn’t a surprising one! Our jobs require us to sit and work for hours on end but that has some severe consequences on our health. A study published on PubMed Central titled ‘Sitting time and all-cause mortality risk’ notes that those who sit for too long are at a higher risk of chronic diseases. But, you can manage this by compensating your sitting time with physical activity. You can start with 30 minutes of jogging or skipping rope.

A

t this stage, we are all aware of how the virus spreads from person to person, and what we need to do to prevent catching the infection and why we need to do it.

Immunity plays a role

People with a weak immune system are at higher risk of being infected with COVID-19. The elderly, and people with underlying health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease or chronic lung disease are at higher risk. People who are undergoing treatment for cancer are also vulnerable to the disease. It is important that these people take extra precautions during the holidays and the wedding season. Try to avoid a few occasions and crowded gatherings.

The year is slowly moving towards the end. Some of the parts of the world are prepping up for holidays, while others have the wedding season going on. As people are gearing up to meet their families and friends, and travel, it is important to not forget that the pandemic is still very much with us. Explaining how we can ensure that we stay safe during the holidays Dr Soumya Swaminathan, World Health Organization's Chief Scientist, in its official Instagram handle.

How to travel safely?

"Try to keep a distance when you're in the plane or the train or a bus. If you're in a bus or a car, where you can open your windows, or even in a train, keep the windows open so you're getting a lot of ventilation. Keep your mask on all the time. Make sure that you carry a disinfectant with you to clean your hands or wash your hands frequently with soap and water. If you're unwell, if you're suffering from fever or cough, don't travel. Postpone it. If you are arriving at a destination where you could meet people at higher risk of the infection, quarantine yourself for 14 days before you actually start meeting family, especially the ones who are vulnerable," Dr Swaminathan says.

Chillis in diet

Good news for the lovers of hot dishes! Adding chilli peppers in diet can contribute to a longer life, a new study by the American Heart Association (AHA) has found. According to Fox News, the American Heart Association presented their first research report on Monday (local time) at a virtual conference, “Scientific Sessions 2020”, during which it shared the findings that the consumption of chilli could help people live longer. Chillies are one of the most common ingredients used in cooking. The red chillies tend to have many regulating properties that give proof of their idealness among various spices. Despite the assemblage of hot flavour, aroma and taste that we get from chillies in our dishes, there are a lot of incredible health benefits too. People could have longer life spans if they consume chilli pepper regularly as the fruit contains anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancer and blood-glucose regulating properties. These factors play a role in reducing a person’s risk of dying from cardiovascular disease or cancer, according to the AHA. More than 570,000 health records of people from the US, Italy, China and Iran were included in its study. The candidates who ate chilli peppers regularly had “a 26 per cent relative reduction in cardiovascular mortality; a 23 per cent relative reduction in cancer mortality; and a 25 per cent relative reduction in all-cause mortality”, according to a report by Fox News.

Train on, stay on

Starting on a fitness programme is one thing. Keeping at it is quite another. What is it that makes some of us stay invested in our fitness while so many others drop off? Let’s take a look at a few tips and tricks.

Staying encouraged

may have anti-inflammatory effects that reduce risk of heart disease According to Dr. Ros, “Walnuts have an optimal mix of essential nutrients like the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA (2.5g/oz), and other highly bioactive components like polyphenols2, that likely play a role in their anti-inflammatory effect and other health benefits.” The study findings were also reinforced by an editorial in the same publication entitled “Ideal Dietary Patterns and Foods to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease: Beware of Their Anti-Inflammatory Potential”, which concludes that a better knowledge of the mechanisms of health protection by the different foods and diets, mainly their anti-inflammatory properties, should inform healthier food choices. While these results are promising, the research does have limitations. Study participants were older adults who were healthy and free living with the option to eat a variety of other foods in addition to walnuts. Additionally, further investigation is needed in more diverse and disadvantaged populations. Those who consumed walnuts had a significant reduction in inflammation, measured by the concentration of known inflammatory markers in the blood, which were reduced by up to 11.5 per cent. The study’s conclusion is that the anti-inflammatory effects of walnuts provide a mechanistic explanation for cardiovascular disease reduction beyond cholesterol lowering.

Encouragement is a strong motivator. This can come from friends, family and coach or even from your own online research. Initially factors such as health issues, losing weight, toning up, gaining muscles and just wanting to look good are strong motivators.

Avoid boredom

Routine is boring! If your fitness routine is becoming boring, consult your coach. Set challenges and introduce workouts you have not done before. While continuing with your base fitness programme, try out something new. For example, if you are visiting your gym three days a week, try out kickboxing to supplement your workout. Breaking routine is an important aspect of staying motivated.

Be patient

Consider how long you’ve let your body lie without looking after it. And then to expect results in a month isn’t really fair, is it? Losing weight and toning up takes time and patience. So does building up expertise in a skill-based fitness activity like martial arts. So don’t quit if results are not immediately evident. Give yourself time. The rewards will come.

Google Stadia cloud gaming service soon to be available on iPhone, iPad app. According to The Verge, the tech giant is working on building a web app version of its cloud gaming service that will run on Apple’s Safari web browser (mobile version). It is supposed to be similar to the upcoming xCloud service from Microsoft that is supposed to go live in 2021. Google was not able to bring the service to iOS devices at the time of its launch because of restrictions imposed by the Apple. But Apple’s announcement in August opened the door for cloud gaming services to run on iOS devices. However, there is a catch as Apple’s App Store will review each and every game before it can run on its devices. These are not the only two services to come to iOS devices. The GeForce NOW Cloud gaming service is already up and running on iOS Safari in Beta. It is also expected to feature the widely popular game Fortnite, which has been Google has confirmed that its cloud gaming service Stadia banned from the App Store as a result of Epic Games will be coming to iPhone and iPad via an upcoming web bypassing Apple’s standard 30 per cent fees.

Twitter, Facebook will transfer presidential accounts to Joe Biden on Inauguration Day Twitter will transfer the @POTUS account to Presidentelect Joe Biden when he’s sworn in on Inauguration Day, the company told Politico. Twitter will transfer the account to Biden even if President Donald Trump

hasn’t conceded — which he still hasn’t done, despite the election widely being called for Biden earlier this month. “Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January

20th, 2021,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to The Verge. “As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records Administration.” Other presidential accounts, including @whitehouse, @VP, and @FLOTUS, will be moved over as well, Politico reports. The existing content on all of the accounts will be archived before the transfer (here’s Barack Obama’s @POTUS archive, if you’re curious), and the accounts will be reset to show zero tweets. Trump will continue to control his personal account, @realDonaldTrump, after Biden’s inauguration, but the account will lose the special protections it gets due to Trump’s status as a world leader — meaning he will be subject to the same rules as the majority of the users on the platform. On Saturday, Facebook told Reuters it would also transfer the official POTUS account on its platform to the incoming administration. “In 2017, we worked with both the Obama Administration and incoming Trump Administration to make sure the transition of their Facebook and Instagram accounts was seamless on January 20th, and we expect to do the same here,” the company said.

The Alexa Smart Plug is a good way to bring some smartness into your house, especially if you have no way of making it smart natively. The Echo Smart Plus looks like any plug you would have at home, just a bit larger and thicker. It has just one small button on it and an LED light that shows it is working. Once you have plugged the plug on our switchboard, you can get it set up via the Alexa app. That is as simple as adding a new device. Once you have added the device you can use the phone to switch it on and off. When you do this, you can hear a small click inside the plug. However, that is too simple and not what you would want to do with a plug that costs Rs 1,999 apiece. In fact, the best way to use this plug is to pair it with an Echo speaker in your home. This way you can use voice to control the plug. You can also create a routine so that the plug can be scheduled to do some stuff at predetermined times. For instance, I set up a routine by which when I uttered ‘Alexa, good night’, the switch would turn off the light connected via it.

Turn AirPods into a Hearing Aid

The AirPods can be used as a substitute for a hearing aid, thanks to its “Live Listen” feature. This feature has been designed to help those who are hearing impaired. To use AirPods as a hearing aid, go to Settings on your iPhone and choose Control Center, open Customize Controls and select the green + (plus) button next to Hearing to add it to the active Control Centre items. Once you are done enabling Live Listen, connect your AirPods to your iPhone, open Control Centre and select the Live Listen icon.

DotBook

Developed by IIT-Delhi researchers, “DotBook” is India’s first Braille laptop for the visually-impaired. Instead of a screen like regular laptops, DotBook uses Braille, a tactile system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired. Available in two models: the 40Q variant has 40 characters per line and offers a conventional QWERTY keyboard and a Braille keyboard and the 20P version comes with 20 characters per line and has only a Braille keyboard. Both models come equipped with the support for basic applications like email, a web browser and a calculator.

BAPS Mandir in Milpitas Celebrated Diwali Online

HI INDIA NEWS DESK MILPITAS, CA -Amid the COVID-19 global pandemic, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills and Milpitas, California, focused on bringing together the Hindu community through five days

of virtual Diwali celebrations. During this period, the traditions celebrated provided an opportunity to reflect and introspect on one’s personal, professional, and spiritual growth, the spiritual organization said in a news release.

Diwali is celebrated every year on the first lunar phase of the moon, when the moon provides no light and the world is enveloped in darkness. Many families would generally gather at the BAPS Mandir to celebrate this festival. However, due to the health and safety concerns this year, the BAPS organization provided live, interactive programs throughout the holiday season to bring the community together through activities that each family could partake in and share with others online, it said. One such activity was the observation of New Year’s Day which occurs the day after Diwali. BAPS mandirs across the world celebrate this day by offering Annakut (meaning of “Mountains of Food”) to the sacred images within the shrines of the mandir, the organization said.

Chicago community groups provide food, clothes for families in need ahead of Thanksgiving Community groups across Chicago came together to help families in need for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The Dovetail Project, a fatherhood initiative for young men of color, has worked to fill the gap for families for a fourth year. The project provides food boxes to 120 families as well as winter coats and gears with the support of the Chicago Bears. “It’s enough to feed four to five individuals inside of a household. Turkey, coats, right, really getting everything together so that families don’t have to worry about going out to the stores,” said Sheldon Smith, project founder at the Dovetail Project. The Rock Ministries also had its 18th annual Acts of Kindness turkey giveaway.

Bal Vihar of St. Louis Celebrated Diwali Festival HI INDIA NEWS DESK ST LOUIS, MO- Center for Indian Cultural Education – Bal Vihar of St. Louis our best wishes to everyone in US, India and the rest of the world as we enter the Hindu Calendar Samvat Year 2077. The Bal Vihar of St. Louis, a nonprofit organization which promotes Indian culture to children, has celebrated the Diwali festival for over 29 years. The Balvihar community assists their students

to understand other cultures and religions by teaching them about the Indian culture, as well as celebrating the Indian festivities. One of the Indian festivals, Deepavali or known as Diwali or Festival of Light, is Bal Vihar’s most celebrated festivals. In the past years Balvihar had the opportunity to showcase the festival of lights, Diwali, by celebrating with pujas, diyas, and fireworks. Given current pandemic environment, the Bal Vihar school

held virtual Diwali celebration keeping in mind the safety and well-being of our families and students. At the beginning of the ceremony, a youth group student led the event, summarizing the significance of Diwali in our lives. The event continued with religious ceremony facilitated by

Gujarati Samaj and Bal Vihar of St. Louis Gathered to Create Mural of Cans Themed “COVID-19”

HI INDIA NEWS DESK ST. LOUIS, MO – On Saturday, 22 teens from the organizations Gujarati Samaj of St Louis and Bal Vihar of St Louis came together as one team to build a mural made of canned goods called “CANstruction: Covid-19.” The teens from different school districts and different grades from age 13 years to 17 years

participated in this community event. For the first time, Gujarati Samaj has organized this collaborative project in partnership with The Center for Indian Cultural Education – Bal Vihar of St. Louis. This year’s theme COVID-19 is inspired to raise awareness in this difficult pandemic time. Approximately 2,000+ cans make up this CANstruction structure which took approximately six hours to build and was on display available to view by appointment at GSSTL Center in the main Hall through November 20th. Later thousands of cans were donated to Hazelwood area Food Pantry TEAM. The teens used both ART and CREATIVITY to construct

this extraordinary structure that represents consciousness, hope, love, and unity among all. As we navigate through the pandemic together, it is very imperative that we continue to spread awareness to this deadly virus and this cause can make a difference in our continued effort on feeding hungry, way to give back to our community. The purpose of this project was to allow our youth to help those in need in the St. Louis community and to teach the value of community service and to create a sense of oneness. This CANstruction project allowed local youth to come together, while enhancing their leadership and teambuilding skills. With all the hard work and efforts by volunteers from both organizations, we were able to explore the theme “COVID-19” and servicing those in need.

a Hindu priest in St. Louis. Many students and their families joined the ceremony from the comfort of their homes via Zoom. The children followed the priest in performing puja at their home using clay diyas they made in their previous class. The puja started with short prayers, followed by an arti. Even though we all missed being around other families/students, the ability to see others dressed up in their beautiful culture attire made up for some of that. It was probably the next best thing we could do besides being together in person. At the end of puja when doing Aarti, everyone joined together to sing making the chorus fill our homely atmosphere will lots of positive vibes. Year 2020 has been unlike any other that any of us witnessed. We all prayed collectively for the situation all over the world to improve quickly so we can return to some semblance of normalcy. There are so many lessons that we learnt this year. We practiced one of them on the biggest festival for Bal Vihar families by being together virtually and participating in one grand ceremony feeling the presence of each other.

Seven Including Indian Americans Charged in COVID-Relief Fraud Scheme Totaling $16M HI INDIA NEWS DESK CHICAGO, IL - Seven men in Texas and Illinois have been charged in a scheme to obtain approximately $16 million in small business relief funds amid the coronavirus pandemic, with some of the money being used to purchase a Lamborghini and a Porsche. Amir Aqeel, Pardeep Basra, Rifat Bajwa, Mayer Misak, Mauricio Navia and Richard Reuth, all of Texas, were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, according to a Tuesday statement from the Department of Justice. Aqeel is also charged with three counts of money laundering. Siddiq Azeemuddin, of Illinois, has also been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering in connection to the scheme. The men are accused of filing at least 80 fraudulent applications to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a federal program designed to provide funds to small businesses

hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The men acquired an estimated $16 million, according to the Department of Justice, and spent it on luxury items, including the Porsche and Lamborghini cars. The men allegedly falsified “the number of employees and the average monthly payroll expenses of the applicant businesses.” They also allegedly submitted false bank records and false tax forms, according to the charges. The indictment also alleges that the men wrote checks from companies that received the small business loans to fake employees, including some of the defendants and their relatives. More than 1,100 fake paychecks totaling more than $3 million were cashed at a company owned by Azeemuddin. Federal officials seized the Lamborghini and Porsche automobiles that were allegedly purchased with the illegally obtained funds. “Some fraudsters create the most

complicated schemes to steal money from the taxpayer. Just imagine how productive they could be if they put their creativity and effort into noble and useful work,” U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick of the Southern District of Texas said in the Tuesday statement. “With the great work of so many partner agencies, we will bring to justice those who steal from the treasury.” The PPP was created by coronavirus relief legislation passed by lawmakers in March and is

aimed at keeping employers open during the pandemic. Under the program, which is guaranteed by the Small Business Association, many of the loans given to businesses are forgivable if the funds are used for payroll, mortgage interest, rent, utilities and other targeted costs. A Florida man earlier this year was arrested after federal prosecutors said he fraudulently obtained nearly $4 million in PPP loans and used some of the money to buy a Lamborghini sports car.

Hindu Mandir of Lake County Performed Govardhan Puja HI INDIA NEWS DESK GRAYSLAKE, IL -Hindu Mandir of Lake County, Grayslake, IL performed the Govardhan Puja/ Annakuta (mountain of rice decorated with variety of foods), in a traditional way on Saturday, November 21, 2020 with small group of devotees on site and many more on online. In adherence with Government guidelines, this year’s Diwali & Annakuta Pujas were simpler but focused on giving everyone the opportunity for darshan of the Lord and Prasadam. Temple priest, Pt Anil Joshi Ji performed Abhishekam, Annakuta offering, Archana and Aarti by chanting 108 names of Lard Krishna and Krishna Maha Mantra. Due to COVID-19 safety and sanitation measures, no outside food from the devotees was accepted but the temple priest, Pt Joshi Ji and his wife Kiran Joshi prepared at their home a wide variety of vegetarian delicacies such as sweets, snacks, curd items, Indian breads, pakoras, fruits and juices and offered to Shri Krishna Paramatma to express gratitude on everyone’s behalf. He built a replica

of Govardhan Hill with rice to commemorates the incident from the Bhagavat Puran where Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill to provide the people of Vrindavan village shelter from torrential rains. Pt. Joshi Ji delivered his discourse on the history, significance, vidhi, and benefits of Govardhan Puja. He said that by performing or participating in this puja, devotees obtain two kinds of blessings: 1) to overcome the feelings of egoism and socio-economic and power inequalities 2) to live peacefully, sacrifice, and share love with each other. In addition, he requested every devotee to worship Lord Krishna as the lifter of Govardhan Hill, worship the hill as His incarnation, and worship the cows and bulls who are dear to the Lord. In his Ashirvachanam, he blessed all the devotees to be happy and prosperous and not forget our traditions and philosophy and preserve our Hindu heritage. At the end of the event, the Hill of Prasadam was distributed to the devotees as carry out packages due to COVID situation by following proper social distancing.

Sahara Homecare Holds iPad Giveaway for Caregivers HI INDIA NEWS DESK LOMBARD, IL— Sahara Homecare is holding its first ever iPad Giveaway for homecare aides. All homecare aides are encouraged to apply, and 100 applicants with the best work performance will be selected and awarded a brand new iPad in December. “We have organized this campaign to show a little appreciation for all the hard work our caregivers are doing, especially during this pandemic,” said Program Coordinator Samina Saeed in a statement. “It’s the least we can do for them.” With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Sahara continues to support its caregivers by providing masks and gloves and is still hiring.

Starting wage for homecare aides is $14.00/hour and employees are eligible to receive health benefits if working at least 20 hours per week. Sahara’s Community Care Program (CCP), which receives funding through the Illinois Department on Aging, gives additional assistance to the elderly free of cost if they meet certain qualifications. Homecare Aides assist clients with everyday tasks that can become difficult due to old age and

deteriorating health. Services include laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery shopping, as well as help with feeding, grooming, bathing and dressing among others. To qualify, potential clients must: Be 60 years or older, Be a U.S. Citizen or legal alien, Be a resident of Illinois Have non-exempt asset value of less than $17,500, Have an assessed need for care, Have applied for Medicaid Besides the main headquarters in Lombard, Sahara has several locations throughout the Chicagoland area including Skokie, Melrose Park, Hanover Park, Bolingbrook, Chicago, Albany Park, Justice, Elgin, and Mount Prospect.

Police Discover Van Loaded with Explosives, Suspicious Equipment in Philadelphia PHILADELPHIA, PA -An investigation is underway in Philadelphia after police found explosives and other suspicious cargo inside a van at Logan Circle. Police reportedly recovered propane tanks, torches and possible dynamite sticks from the van at Logan Circle. The bomb squad is investigating. There is no immediate word on who owns the van and if anyone has been arrested. The discovery comes as the city remains on heightened alert following nights of unrest, stemming from anger over the police killing of Walter Wallace Jr. During a virtual press conference Wednesday, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw discussed the latest on the investigation, the use of police force and the recent unrest in the city.

MED-MAL PLAINTIFFS REACH $66M SETTLEMENT AGAINST INDIAN AMERICAN CARDIOLOGIST FOR ALLEGEDLY UNNECESSARY CARDIAC PROCEDURES HI INDIA NEWS DESK MUNSTER, IN-A settlement exceeding $66 million has been announced in favor of more than 260 patients who claimed they were the victims of malpractice at the hands of Indian American cardiologist Dr. Arvind Gandhi of northwest Indiana.Gandhi allegedly performed unnecessary cardiac procedures and device implantations, according to reports. The Indianapolis firm of Cohen & Malad P.C. and the Merrillville firm of Theodoros & Rooth announced the $66.5 million settlement Nov. 10, reports said. The firms represent 262 patients who sued Gandhi and his associates at Cardiology Associates of Northwest Indiana P.C., it added. The terms of the settlement are confidential, and the defendants “deny that they had engaged in any negligent or otherwise improper conduct and deny any liability relative to the claims,”

according to the announcement from the plaintiffs’ firms, according to an Indian Lawyer report. The announcement said the settlement was reached “with a Northwest Indiana cardiology group, a Northwest Indiana hospital, and with the participation of the Indiana Patient’s Compensation Fund,” the report said. The settlement comes after six years of litigation against Gandhi, his associates and cardiology practice, and Community Hospital of Munster, it said. Plaintiffs claimed that Gandhi’s group had implanted pacemakers or defibrillators they didn’t need and routinely scheduled unnecessary procedures, among other allegations, the report added. Some cases proceeded to state court while others were filed with the Indiana Department of

Insurance. The first verdict against Gandhi was handed down in December 2015, it said. In October 2014, Cohen & Malad announced that more than 20 medical malpractice injury lawsuits had been filed. By 2016, that number had increased to nearly 300, the report said. Several cases named Community Hospital of Munster as a defendant, claiming the hospital “act(ed) in concert with the doctors, and that the hospital was putting profits ahead of patient safety by allowing doctors to do things they were not qualified to do,” the report said. Community Hospital denied those allegations. According to the Nov. 10 announcement, paperwork for claimants or their estates is being completed to consummate the settlement, the report said.

USCIS Reaches H-2B Cap for First Half of FY 2021 HI INDIA NEWS DESK WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has received enough petitions to reach the congressionally mandated cap on H-2B visas for temporary nonagricultural workers for the first half of fiscal year 2021. Nov. 16 was the final receipt date for new cap-subject H-2B worker petitions requesting an employment start date before April 1, 2021. USCIS will reject new cap-subject H-2B petitions received after Nov. 16, that request an employment start date before April 1, 2021. On Nov. 16, the number of

beneficiaries USCIS received petitions for surpassed the total number of remaining H-2B visas available for the H-2B cap for the first half of FY 2021. In accordance with regulations, USCIS determined it was necessary to use a computergenerated process, commonly known as a lottery, to ensure the fair and orderly allocation of H-2B visa numbers to meet, but not exceed, the cap for the first half of FY 2021. On Nov. 18, USCIS conducted a lottery to randomly select petitions from those received on Nov. 16. As a result, USCIS assigned all petitions selected in the lottery the receipt

date of Nov. 18. Premium processing service for petitions selected in the lottery also began on that date. USCIS continues to accept H-2B petitions that are exempt from the congressionally mandated cap. This includes the following types of petitions: :-Current H-2B workers in the U.S. who are extending their stay and, if applicable, changing the terms of their employment or changing their employers; :- Fish roe processors, fish roe technicians, and/or supervisors of fish roe processing; and :- Workers performing labor or

services in the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands and/or Guam from Nov. 28, 2009, until Dec. 31, 2029. U.S. businesses use the H-2B program to employ foreign workers for temporary nonagricultural jobs. Currently, Congress has set the H-2B cap at 66,000 per fiscal year, with 33,000 for workers who begin employment in the first half of the fiscal year (Oct. 1 - March 31) and 33,000 (plus any unused numbers from the first half of the fiscal year) for workers who begin employment in the second half of the fiscal year (April 1 - Sept. 30).

Restaurant's Blunder On Driver Slams Brand New Car Into Pamphlet Explains Why Showroom Wall Punctuation Is Important An Indian restaurant in London has been ridiculed for missing out on a small but crucial punctuation sign on its leaflet. Social media users were left laughing out loud when a picture of a pamphlet for Anu's Kitchen began to do the rounds of the Internet. According to The Sun, the leaflet was used on takeaway delivery site Foodhub and read: "Anus Kitchen is now available on foodhub.co.uk." The lack of apostrophe after Anu did not go unnoticed as it inadvertently changed the whole meaning of the word. It led to merciless trolling of the Indian restaurant on social media. The picture was first shared on Facebook user Paul Brook, who wrote: "Why punctuation is important." An Indonesian man became a millionaire overnight after a meteor crashed through his roof. Josua Hutagalung, 33, is a coffin maker from Sumatra who became astronomically richer after he recently sold the meteorite for over 1 million pounds - or roughly â‚š 9.8 crore. Mr Hutagalung was working outside his home in August when the 2.1 kg space rock smashed through the tin roof in his veranda. "The sound was so loud that parts of the house were shaking too. And after I searched, I saw that the tin roof of the house had broken," he told news outlet Kompas at the time. "When I lifted it, the stone was still warm." He shared photos of the meteorite on Facebook, where they created a flurry of interest. According to the Independent, the meteorite is carbonaceous chondrite - an extremely rare variety estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. It is reportedly worth around 645 pounds (approximately â‚š 63,000) per gram. Josua Hutagalung has now sold the rock to a specialist collector - Jared Collins of the USA. Mr Collins has reportedly re-sold it to fellow collector Jay Piatek, who has stored in liquid nitrogen at the Centre for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University.

Comedian and actor Sunil Grover shared an example of an accident that falls into the latter category on Instagram this Sunday. The Bharat actor shared a clip which shows a driver ramming his brand new Kia Carnival minivan into a showroom wall minutes after delivery. A dealership employee can be seen explaining something to the driver. The car, with a couple of people sitting inside, then starts moving. However, the driver immediately appears to lose control of the vehicle, ramming it straight into a wall. In fact, the car hits the wall a couple of times more as the driver tries to reverse, leading some to speculate that he did not know how to control automatic cars. "New car, directly from showroom to service station," wrote Sunil Grover while sharing the video.

Man Jumps Into Water, Pries Open Jaws Of An Alligator To Rescue Dog.

A man was filmed rescuing his whimpering dog from the jaws of an alligator. Richard Wilbanks, 74, was filmed running into his backyard pool to save his three-month-old pup from certain death, reports CNN. The dramatic rescue was captured on surveillance cameras that were set up in the area through a partnership between the Florida Wildlife Federation and the fStop Foundation. "We were just out walking by the pond," Mr Wilbanks told CNN, "and it came out of the water like a missile. I never thought an alligator could be that fast. It was so quick." The retiree immediately jumped into water to rescue his pet - a Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Gunner. He rushed underwater and pried open the jaws of the gator in order to save the whimpering puppy, saying that prying open the reptile's jaws was "extremely hard". "He had one little puncture wound and I had, my hands were just chewed up," said Mr Wilbanks

Prince William And Kate Say Goodbye To Their Family Dog "Lupo" The Duke and Duchess of C a mbr i d g e ' s d o g , Lup o, has died. The royal couple announced the sad news on social media this Sunday. "Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away," Prince William and Kate said in their post, sharing a photograph of the black cocker spaniel. "He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much." Lupo, a black English cocker spaniel, was adopted by Prince William and Kate in 2012 - a year before they welcomed their first child, Prince George. In addition to Prince George, 7, the couple are also parents to Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2. Lupo was part of a litter born to Ella - the dog of Kate's parents Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton. His death was also mourned by Kate's brother, James Middleton.
