Local attractions that offer accommodations to kids with disabilities and their caregivers

Many of San Diego’s favorite parks, museums and theme parks offer accommodations for families who have kids with disabilities. Here are local spots that have amenities such as companion passes, early entry or discounted admission. Visit each website for a full list of amenities and more information; pre-registration may be required.
Balboa Park Museums www.sdnhm.org/visit/accessibility/social-stories
Free social stories (in English or Spanish) for individuals with Autism are available for seven museums in Balboa Park.
Cabrillo National Monument www.nps.gov/subjects/accessibility/interagencyaccess-pass.htm
Visit for free with the America the Beautiful National Parks Access Pass. This lifetime pass is available to people with a permanent disability.
Fleet Science Center www.fleetscience.org/accessibility
Families with sensory needs have early access to Fleet galleries one hour before the public on the third Saturday of every month. Free entry for one individual and an accompanying adult.
San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum www.sdcdm.org/visit/amenities
Offers discounted membership for families with special needs. A free pass is available for professional aides.

The Nat offers a free escort pass for the companion of a person with a disability.

The Zoo offers a complimentary pass for one personal attendant/caregiver of a guest with disabilities who needs help accessing programs and facilities.
San Diego Zoo Safari Park https://sdzsafaripark.org/guests-disabilities
The Safari Park offers an Easy Access Pass for those who have trouble waiting in line at the Africa Tram.
SeaWorld www.seaworld.com/san-diego/park-info/ accessibility-guide
SeaWorld’s Special Access pass allows visitors to be placed in a virtual queue for attractions due to their disability. Your group is then free to explore the park and return at a pre-designated time.

Use a Disabled Discount Pass for half off the vehicle day-use fee to enter the park. This lifetime pass is available to people with permanent disabilities for a nominal one-time fee.
