Cont’d As the notion that “People Shall Drive” phenomenon as an additional clause to the famous “Fredom Charter”becomes popular in South African roads, the death tolcontinues to skyrocket, but through an effort of the tireless public servants in local and national roads has been outstanding, and an additional stint of patriotism should added as a must, for public servants across the three tiers of our government. There was a decrease in the number of unlicensed vehicles by 122 14 (29,41%) from 415 290 vehicles at the end of December 2008 to 293 166 vehicles at the end of December 2009.
Number of Un-Roadworthy Vehicles The number of vehicles that are un-roadworthy (but licenced) increased by 51,609 (13,69%) from 377,105 vehicles at the end of December 2008 to 428,714 vehicles at the end of December 2009. Detail in this regard is given in Table 7 and the percentage of un-roadworthy vehicles per type of vehicle, as a percentage of the number registered, is reflected in the graph below.
