Give of Yourself

Rooted in our core values and commitment to social justice, service learning is woven into the fabric of everyday life at SD. We celebrate our students’ innate desire to give of themselves, through projects on campus and in the community. From the simplest act of tending our garden and delivering handpicked flower bouquets to teachers or baking bread for a local retirement community, our kindergartners develop a sense of place and purpose in the world–a world that will one day depend on their altruism and action.

Kindness Matters

Because we understand that a child’s social well-being and emotional development are inextricably related to their ability to thrive, our teachers develop in our students a deep sense of self and an automatic default to kindness and integrity Educators call this “social and emotional learning.”

We call it education on purpose because an exceptional education, where values and academics join together, creates more than just great students; it develops great people. At SD, we are a community of belonging, where students, staff, and families are dedicated to inclusion, kindness, and respect for all.
