FINAL THESIS
ROOTS IN THE DESERT Botanical Park in Ica Thesis of Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and Urbanism I seek to regain the link between civilization and nature. To be a nexus between the traditional and the innovation design, using dual concepts of the Andean worldview such as: The world above and below, the imperceptible limits between the inside and outside. The Huarango, is the tree with the deepest roots in the world: Up to 70 meters deep. It lives in the dry forests of Huarango, it is a pre-hispanic cultural landscape that has been reduced to a minimum percentage 1% of what it was 1000 years ago, leading the key species, to the danger of extinction, along with all the species that depend of this.
1
LOCATION The Ica desert is the continuity of the driest desert in the world: Atacama. Despite this it has a super fertile land, being the department with the highest agricultural production in Peru, a virtue because of the Huarango Dry Forest.
PRE-HISPANIC CULTURAL LANDSCAPE Only 1% of the original forest from a thousand years ago remains.
STRENGTHS People with an ethnobotanical cultural tradition, such as the Chincha, Paracas and Nazca pre-Hispanic cultures which lived in the landscape of the Huarango forest. The native plants of the place are resistant species, adapted to extreme conditions: little water and abundant radiation. Location in the only forest of Stones of Ica, on the edge of the city. Natural landscape that requires protection.
Huarango, Tree that can live more than 1000 years
IMPORTANCE OF THE HUARANGO TREE THREATS Massive destruction of Huarangos for firewood for grilled chicken. Indifference of the authorities and the population of Ica, contamination of the city. Devaluation of vernacular constructive systems. Forest fires and climate change.

IMPORTANT SPECIES FOR THE FOREST
It’s a constant process of exploration, of scale, shape, proportion. To achieve a connection with the enviorement, with the stones, the trees, with their roots and worldviews. Descend to enter the project, connect with the earth
PRE MASTER PROJECT
LIVING THE EDGES Wetland park to transition During this project I was in Peru. In South America, it is mostly about solving something that is malfunctioning or does not exist, in this case it was to improve and enhance something that is already good. My first impression was a change of perspective towards a better society and future. That place in Amsterdam with allotments garden is on the edges of urban and rural area, I found great potential in water purification and creation of natural wetlands. With this idea I designed the Wetland park to transition.
2
EMPLACEMENT The location that I chose functioned as a transition between the city and the farmland. It seemed prudent to give strength to the lower park and the upper channel to create a new transition layer: The wetlandpark, which would also have the environmental function of purifying the water of the place and public space for visitors.

CURRENT SITUATION
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCIE
SANCTUARY MEMORIAL OF LA HOYADA Ayacucho, Perú The Peruvian international armed conflict ended in 2000, but there are still unresolved situations that maintain uncertainty for many families of the disappeared. In order to heal this wound and, at the same time to contribuite to the process of national reconciliation. The architects of Awaq Estudio and Estudio Shicras joined various organizations like ANFASEP to convert a natural pilgrimage space - located in the sector of the Hoyada - In a Shrine of Memory, including in its design the direct particiaption of the family members involved.

EMPLACEMENT
MASTER PLAN
The total number of deaths and disappearances due to the Peruvian internal armed conflict can be estimated at about 69 280 people indentifying.
A
The Ayacucho region as the most affected with about 40% of the total victims. ANFASEP, the citizen movement for human rights of Ayacucho and other various organizations, have been working, from the beginning of the exhumation process. The design that arises recognizes the memory of the place, the tradition and recognizes refereces in our pre-Hispanic legacy: The pre-Hispanic architecture of Pumacocha.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
ICA BOTANICAL GARDEN For native plants In charge og CONICA (We keep Ica) ang NGO Ania, I elaborated the design of the preliminary project based on the idea of the botanist Oliver Walley. Under the supervicion of Peruvians specialist such as ing. Daniel Lam and Miguel Bailleti (2108). It consist of two main routes: One ethnobotanical and the other ecological. In this way exposes the biodiverse wealth of Ica, it is more than a desert. The Botanical Garden has an area of 3 ha. with the idea of educating the school students of Ica.

CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND INTERPRETATION of rock art of the ravine of Culebrillas
From the unique geographic environmental social, economic and cultural context of the Qubrada de Culebrillas in Arequipa (Peru), wich the memory of its originis and the change processes that drive its modernization are intertwined. Currently the stream is proposed as an archaeoloical site, since it presents a landscape of great historical value due to the petroglyphs among other evidences of ancient human occupations. A public facility is proposed to motivate interest and its preservation with a relevant architectural program

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
6 INVERTED FOREST TOWER Kurgi Observation Tower As part of Kurgi’s pursuit to raise and participation in the protection of the Latvian Ardennes, it seeks to attract to the farm. The Kurgi Observation Tower competition called for participants to submit proposals for a viewingtower for the visitors and guests to experience and gain appreciation for the horses as well as the beautiful, rugged Baltic landscape. The proposed observation tower is to be an iconic landmark set atop a hill on the Kurgi estate, with views of the surrounding lakes, glacially formed hills, rolling plains and forest.
EXTRAS
SKETCHES DRAWINGS PAINTINGS Among my interests,I continually explore various techniques of architectural and artistic representation. Trough drawing I better understand proportions and harmony, from the human body to the space it inhabits. I believe that continuing to practice art has a positive influence on my work as an designer landscape architect.
