María Núñez Argentina Formada como periodista y psicóloga social, fue crítica de cine en medios como Página 12 y La Nación e integró las comisiones directivas de la Asociación de Cronistas Cinematográficos de la Argentina y de Signis Argentina. Desde 2004 es parte de la Gerencia de Asuntos Internacionales del INCAA, Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales de Argentina, donde entre otras actividades es Coordinadora de la sección Primer Corte en Ventana Sur, luego de haber sido Coordinadora General de Producción de Pantalla Pinamar durante dos años.

She is a journalist and social psychologist, she was also a film critic in media like Pagina 12 and La Nacion and was part of the directive commissions for the Argentine Film Journalism Association and for Signis Argentina. Since 2004, she has been a part of the Management for International Affairs of INCAA, the Argentine National Institute for Film and Audiovisual Arts, where among other activities she is a Coordinator of the section First Cut of Ventana Sur, after being the General Coordinator for Pinamar Screen for two years.

Matthew Takata Estados Unidos Manager para la selección de largometrajes en el Feature Film Program’s del Sundance Institute. Está enfocado en el alcance internacional y la selección en el Institute’s Screenwriters y Directors Lab en Utah, FP’s Labs en India, Turquía, Jordania y Japón, y en el anual Sundance Institute. Anteriormente, trabajó en GK Films en largometrajes como Los infiltrados (2006), Diamante de sangre (2006), y Atracción peligrosa (2010), seguido por un trabajo en Key Creatives y International Creative Management. Ha producido largometrajes como Huacho (2009), Sentados frente al fuego (2011) y Matar a un hombre, ganadora de la competencia World Cinema en el Festival de Sundance de este año, además de ser premiada en Rotterdam, exhibida en certámenes como San Sebastián y recientemente elegida para representar a Chile en el Oscar y los Goya. En el último tiempo fundó Molotov Cine, para posicionar nuevos talentos en el mundo del cine y aportar a la industria. Producer and teacher. The once beautiful and popular Camila is unwillingly rehabilitating from a stroke that left her with neuromotor damage. El hombre nuevo Uruguay - Chile

Documentary that focuses on Stephania, a 45-year-old trans woman who, as a child, lived through the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua. As a teenager in Uruguay Stephania was a model teenage boy, committed and revolutionary. Today, after overcoming her drug addiction and quitting prostitution, she makes a living watching over parked cars in downtown Montevideo, while she tries to rebuild her family ties, attempts to return to her country and strives to be accepted as the woman she is today.

Mientras se desarrolla la fiesta religiosa de Cuasimodo, la mujer tratará de mantener el orden, evadir a la policía, encontrar a Juan y sobre todo perdonarse a sí misma por la muerte del niño.

Santiago leaves a rural jail and has problems finding work, so he partakes in a robbery gone wrong which leads to him committing an entirely different crime. He runs desperately and hides in a big city using a randomly picked fake name. Unfortunately, this turns out to be the name of someone else who also hides a dark truth.

La maldad México

Rafael is an old man who lives in the country and is lonely and hopeless. He decides to write the story of his life into what he considers to be a cinematic screenplay. Blinded by the conviction of making his film, he betrays his only friend so he can travel to his country’s capital in order to gather the funds he needs.

La mujer de la esclavina Chile

Carmen, a simple seamstress, leads a peaceful life with Juan, her partner, until his ex wife appears, blaming Carmen for the death of her child three years ago. Out of control, Carmen hits her with a rock, leaving her unconscious. While the religious party of Quasimodo takes place, the woman will try to keep everything in order, avoiding the police, looking for Juan, and especially trying to forgive herself for the child’s death. 5

Una noche por casualidad, en un burdel donde debía entregar un reparto, entra en una cabina de striptease donde por primera vez ve a una mujer desnuda. Cuando intenta repetir la experiencia, queda shockeado al descubrir que su madre también trabaja haciendo striptease, y empezará a verla con otros ojos.

Pero cuando Pablo es atacado salvajemente y queda en estado de coma, el frágil castillo de naipes de Juan comienza a tambalear.

Nunca vas a estar solo

Martín, a 12-year-old boy who lives alone with his mother, works as a pizza delivery boy so he can save up and take her to Disney World. One night, by chance, in a brothel where he was supposed to deliver an order, he goes into a striptease booth where he sees a naked woman for the first time. When he tries to repeat the experience, he is shocked to discover that his mother also strips for a living, and he will now begin to see her in a different light.

Juan is a typical Chilean father, satisfied with his job at a mannequin store where he has worked for 20 years, and with the cordial though distant relationship he has with his son Pablo, a gay teenager who secretly cross-dresses and lives happily in his teenage bubble. Adelfa Martínez Colombia Directora de Cinematografía del Ministerio de Cultura desde 2010, es parte de la Oficina desde 1999, como líder del grupo de gestión, y como asesora en materia de políticas públicas para la coproducción nacional e internacional. Cinematographic Director of the Ministry of Culture since 2010, she has been part of the Office since 1999 as a leader of the management group, and as an adviser in terms of public policy for local and international coproduction.

Fernando Sokolowicz Argentina Formado en la carrera de periodismo de la Universidad Nacional de la Plata, es desde su creación en 1987 y hasta la fecha, el presidente del diario Página 12. Dentro de su actividad en los medios audiovisuales fue presidente de la Asociación de Productores Audiovisuales del Mercosur y presidente de las productoras cinematográficas Aleph Media y Kábala. Educated as a journalist at the Universidad Nacional de la Plata, he has been president of the newspaper Página 12 since its creation in 1987 and up to today. Within his activity regarding audiovisual media, he was president of the Association of Audiovisual Producers of Mercosur and president of the film production companies Aleph Media and Kábala.

Walter Tiepelmann Argentina Director del Buenos Aires DocLab. Funda y dirige el OBSERVATORIO, la primera escuela de Cine Documental de Iberoamérica en el año 2000, y es Director de Programación del FIDBA, Festival Internacional de Cine y Artes Documentales de Buenos Aires. Profesor en la Maestría en Cine Documental de la Universidad del Cine. En 2008 fundó IMPOSIBLE FILMS, que apoya proyectos de primeras y segundas películas de directores con mirada autoral. Ejerció como Director del Master en Documental de Creación de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos en Madrid. Director of the Buenos Aires DocLab. En 4 años ya ha superado los 400.000 espectadores, realizando más de 500 funciones en todo el país, así como también en Brasil, Argentina, Colombia y Paraguay. Como productor ha trabajado en diversas películas, y también ha destacado como realizador, incluyendo la reciente Maracaná, que exhibiremos en la presente edición de nuestro festival. Founder of EFECTO CINE, the first professional platform of nomadic film in Uruguay. In 4 years they have already passed the 400,000 spectator mark, performing more than 500 screenings in the whole country, as well as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay. As a producer, he has worked in several films, and he has also performed as a filmmaker, including the recent film Maracaná, which we will show in our festival’s present edition.

En una pequeña caleta del sur de Chile funcionó hasta 1983 una gran industria ballenera. Tras su cierre, varios habitantes abandonaron el lugar, pero algunos se quedaron, aferrados a su tierra y a una forma de vida que está desapareciendo. In a small fishing cove in southern Chile, a large whaling company operated until 1983. After it was closed, many inhabitants left the area, but some stayed, clinging to their land and to a way of life that is vanishing.

The “Black Virgin” of Montserrat is loaded with contradictions and mystery. Her role as the protector of “thieves” opens the door to the occult and darkens the more positive truths, generating doubts on the morality, history and religion that serve as bases to our society.

A retired farmer and poet, a surrendered mother, some urban artists, a native leader, an entrepreneurial clown, an African-Caribbean fisherman and a “new age” community all star in a kaleidoscope of visions on happiness throughout the Latin American continent.

“Al fin, se ha descubierto la solución al conflicto marítimo de Bolivia con Chile”. Un científico chileno ha descubierto una formula bioquímica, que permite crear un mar de aguas cristalinas. En Santa Cruz de la Sierra se ha encontrado un lugar propicio para experimentar con la fórmula, y se está creando un mar para Bolivia. Varios obreros venidos de las tierras altas, para soportar el calor del trópico, trabajan sin descanso para hacer realidad lo que parecía imposible. “The solution to the maritime conflict between Bolivia and Chile has finally been discovered”. A Chilean scientist has discovered a biochemical formula that allows for the creation of a clear water sea. In Santa Cruz de la Sierra there is a place fit to experiment with the formula, and they are creating a sea for Bolivia. Many workmen coming from the highlands, in order to withstand the tropical heat, work tirelessly in order to bring that which seemed impossible to reality. 11

This is a story about how the least influential of citizens managed to take a group of untouchables to court.

They dress up as attendants and pretend to do their jobs while one of them opens the station’s ATMs. The three of them are mugged later that night by a deranged religious fanatic, who settles the score when he meets his brother’s killer in the middle of the operation. A young drug addict, two policemen and the hostages find themselves trapped in these characters’ violent gunfight for revenge, a fight for money and survival.

She was nominated for the 2012 Academy Award as producer for the short documentary, God is the Bigger Elvis. Furthermore, she is creator and executive producer and programmer in the development of iReport Film Festival, the first online festival by CNN.

Paola Castillo Chile Directora de cine egresada de la Escuela de Cine y TV de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, y se formó como periodista en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Ha trabajado en distintas productoras, siendo la principal Nueva Imagen, en la cual ha dirigido programas culturales para TVN, como El Show de los libros, Coyote, Cine video y Cine video + Teatro, por el que obtuvo el Premio Altazor 2002 a mejor dirección. Ha realizado numerosos documentales para programas de televisión, entre ellos, El Mirador y Crónicas de la Vida Real. En cine, ha dirigido los documentales Niños del paraíso, La última huella, 74 m2 y Genoveva. This film director graduated from the San Antonio School of Film and Television from Baños, Cuba and she became a journalist at the Chilean Catholic University. Lorena Giachino Chile Cineasta, se formó como periodista en la Universidad Diego Portales; postgraduada en Guiones por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. En 2006 realizó su primer largometraje documental Reinalda del Carmen, mi mamá y yo, que tuvo un largo recorrido por festivales de América Latina, Europa y EEUU. En España desarrolló labores de directora, guionista y productora ejecutiva en una serie de programas educativos y campañas audiovisuales para la Asociación de Televisión Educativa Iberoamericana (ATEI). Ha colaborado desde Chile para el extranjero en producciones de People and Arts, BBC, La Sette, de Italia, y Discovery Channel. Acaba de estrenar su segundo documental, El Gran Circo Pobre de Timoteo. This filmmaker became a journalist at the Diego Portales University; and she is a postgraduate of screenwriting at the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2006 she made her first full-length documentary Reinalda del Carmen, mi mamá y yo, which made a long run through festivals of Latin America, Europe and the United States. Coordinador General de ChileDoc, organización diseñada para mejorar la difusión y distribución de documentales chilenos, y establecer alianzas de colaboración con Latinoamérica y el mundo. En SANFIC 8, recibió junto al director Pelayo Lira, el premio en la Competencia Talento Nacional por La visita del Cangrejo (2011), cortometraje de ficción seleccionado en varios festivales nacionales e internacionales, que contó con apoyo Fondo de Fomento Audiovisual. Este año fue Productor Ejecutivo del elogiado documental Propaganda, que obtuvo el premio del jurado del festival Visions du Réel, entre otras distinciones en certámenes de Chile y el mundo. Producer graduated from the University of Chile with a degree in Film and Television. He is General Coordinator for ChileDoc, an organization designed to improve the diffusion and distribution of Chilean documentaries and establishing collaborative alliances with Latin America and the world. In SANFIC 8, he received along with the director, Pelayo Lira, the award for the Local Talent Competition for La Visita del Cangrejo (2011), a fiction short film selected in various national and international festivals, which had the support of the Audiovisual Development Fund. This year he was Executive Producer for the applauded documentary, Propaganda, which received the jury’s award in the Visions du Réel Film Festival, among other honors in competitions in Chile and the world.

José Rodríguez Estados Unidos-Puerto Rico Programador asociado para programación de documentales en el Tribeca Film Institute. Creció con una enorme pasión por el cine, llevándola a la Universidad de Siracusa, donde escribió un guión de largometraje y dirigió dos cortometrajes. Después de realizar una práctica como asistente de la productora Amy Hobby, se instaló en Nueva York y se convirtió en uno de los encargados de leer y revisar guiones y libros para Overture Films, mientras al mismo tiempo trabajaba en Children of Invention, de Tze Chun, y en el documental Poor Consuelo Conquers the World.

He is an associated programmer for documentary programming in the Tribeca Film Institute. He grew up with an enormous passion for cinema, which he took with him to the Syracuse University, where he wrote a script for a full-length film and directed two short films. After doing an apprenticeship as assistant to the producer, Amy Hobby, he made New York his home and he became one of those in charge of reading and revising scripts and books for Overture Films, while all the time he worked on Children of Invention, by TzeChun, and the documentary Poor Consuelo Conquers the World.

Gabriela Sandoval Argentina Directora y fundadora de la productora Storyboard Media (www.storyboardmedia.cl), que focaliza su acción en 3 campos de manera integral: Gestión Cultural, Cine y Comunicaciones. In Chile, in 1975, two young men shared a cell in the Villa Grimaldi detainment center. One survived, the other one is a disappeared detainee. Today their children meet to make a documentary that shows a new perspective on the story that conditioned their lives.

In the midst of the ingratitude of show business, Maggie Lay is the last surviving vedette from the time of risqué presentations called “teatro de revista”; a form of entertainment that was contemporary to the dictatorship and went from glory to marginalization and obscurity. From leading lady of the Bim Bam Bum to a celebrity status of anonymity, Maggie Lay survives as a taxi driver, and every once in a while puts on her feathers again and shines onstage, still holding on to the body that made her famous.
