Celebrating International Education Week

This year Sanford Burnham Prebys joined educational institutions across the country in celebrating International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education, which is held in November to celebrate our international diversity and global ties.

Our inaugural IEW Alumni Success Stories panel featured four former Sanford Burnham Prebys postdoctoral researchers who have gone into successful careers in their home countries: two who moved on to faculty positions in academia and two who moved into industry. We greatly appreciate our alumni speakers, Dr. Chandan Singh, Dr. Caroline Stienne, Dr. Julia Westman, and Dr. Marcin Poreba, who joined us at different hours of the day and night via Zoom to generously share their experiences transitioning from a postdoc position into their current roles, provide insights into the academic and private sectors, and answer questions from current postdocs and graduate students. They talked about how their postdoctoral training experiences at the Institute helped prepare them and the professional development opportunities they leveraged to move on in their
