HANDWASHING StATION Internship project-1 month INNOVAXIS

BRIEF This project aims to spread hand hygiene by encouraging people to wash hands and overcome faecal contamination in rural households of Kenya .Handwashing with soap shows the greatest reduction in diarrhea morbidity , and can also reduce respiratory tract infection by about one-third.

CONCEPTS

The design brief was to design a cheap and ergonomic handwashig station which can be free standing as well as wall mounted. So these are a few concepts that i worked on before the final concept. they all essentialy have a water container, basin, drainage and a self cleaning tap.

FINAL CONCEPT Wasbak is a sturdy portable handwashing station which can be free standing as well as wall mounted . Because the same structure is used to stack up no extra moulds are required thus reducing the cost drastically. The lid is designed in such a way that it helps to fill in water as well as act as a basin. A Self cleaning tap is added such that no contamination occurs.

ICE-CREAM PACKAGING Classroom project-1 month GROUP PROJECT

BRIEF Ice-creams are one of the most common treats that one consumes. It is a great delight to share with family and friends. The family pack ice-creams that are available in the market today are, in many ways, difficult to utilize by the comsumer. In this project our aim was to recogonise the current problems in ice-cream family pack packaging and coming up with unique and user-friendly solution.

FINAL CONCEPT The final concept is to have a cylinderical packaging as it has no sides for the ice-cream to stick onto, it will have tearable sections which help people to portion out the quantity and plus a silicon cap is added such that it can be resealed and stored in the freezer. As the product is used the packaging size decreases thus taking less storage space.

DESIGN FOR EMOTIONS Classroom project-1 month GROUP PROJECT

BRIEF The aim was to study how people get emotionally attached to prdducts and take them as companions to meet needs. The product we chose is an alarm clock which is a basic product that almost everyone uses to wake up on time, To understand the human attachment to the product we brainstormed all the emotions people felt for the product.

“CHAOS "All great changes are perceded by chaos" Chaos refers to any state of confusion or disorder. Alarm clock most often generates panic and chaos in the mornings due to its sudden alarming tones. So our objective is to design an alarm clock which generates the emotion of chaos.

FINAL CONCEPT Sway is an alarm clock that will make you get out of your bed and get you on time to work. Sway has a unique shape which helps in to sway every second and the moment the alarm goes off it tils 90 degrees and spills the balls around which increase the intesity of sound. To shut it a person has to catch the balls and put them back in.

Story BEHIND Most of our childhood we have relied on our moms to get us out of bed, but times changed and we became dependant on an alarm clock to do the job. Alarm clocks tend to be taken for granted as you can always shut it by hitting the snooze button. So to make sure a person gets up on time we created a chaos generating alarm clock which forces you to move around and finish a task thus waking you up in the process. The clock is very mesmerising and deceptive in general but when the alarm goes off the chaos begins!!

DESIGN FOR SPECIAL NEEDS Classroom project-1 month GROUP PROJECT

CASE STUDY Name:

Sanchita Baner-

jee Age:- 45 Diagnosis:- Loss of vision

in left eye (Monocular vision) Incident:- 39 years ago Current situation:- wears a glass eye and no vision in left eye.

BRIEF

peripheral vision

trouble crossing roads

difficulty driving

startled

Special needs is a term used in clinical diagnostic and functiona; development to describe individuals who require assistance. The dissability we chose to work with is Monocular vision in which a person can see using one eye instead of two. It causes a major decrease in the peripheral field of vision. It causes people difficulty in crossing roads, driving and navigation in daily life which makes them very consious and constant anxiety.

materials The design brief was to design a device that helps to increase peripheral vision of a person with one sided vision. Thus to to help icrease peripheral vision we studied and researched a lot of different types of mirrors & lenses. We then conducted experiments with these different types of mirrors.

“CHAOS "All great changes are perceded by chaos" Chaos refers to any state of confusion or disorder. Alarm clock most often generates panic and chaos in the mornings due to its sudden alarming tones. So our objective is to design an alarm clock which generates the emotion of chaos.

We placed the silvered mirror perpendicular to the edge of the right lense of the spectacle such that it is facing the blind side.

Result:The vision on the right side got compromised creating confusion. Silvered mirror We placed the convex mirror in front of the nose bridge and angeled it towards he blind side.

Result:The image was distroted (fish eye) thus creating confusion and strain on the subjects eye. convex mirror We placed the concave mirror in front of the nose bridge and angeled it towards he blind side.

Result:The image was distroted (expanded) thus creating confusion and strain on the subjects eye. concave mirror We placed the front coated mirror in front of the nose bridge and angeled it towards the blind side.

Result:the vision on the right side was not compromised and not confusing for the subject. front coated mirror

FINAL CONCEPT: Telescopic attachment

The nose bridge is pulled ahead to a distance that helps the eye to focus on the mirror.

Anti glare lense To angle the mirrored nose bridge one side of the attachment can be pulled further out.

FINAL CONCEPT temple tips

adjustable nose bridge

temples eye rim

lenses

nose pads

We designed a pair of glasses which essentially looks very similar to any other glasses but the part we specially modified is the nose bridge. The nose bridge is wide and silvered on the inside to act like a mirror and to make it functional it is attached to the frame by four telescope joints so when a person needs to use it they extend it and angle it to one side thus increasing the peripheral vision.

board game design open elective-1 month GROUP PROJECT

“SENET The game we chose was SENET which is an ancient egyptian board game which translates in "game of passing". Senet had become a kind of talisman for the journey of the dead. Because of the element of luck in the game and the Egyptian belief in determinism, it was believed that a successful player was under the protection of the major gods of the national pantheon: Ra, Thoth, and sometimes Osiris.

how to play house of rebirth: if pawn lands on 27 it come back to this house

house of three truths: Pawn may leave only when 3 is thrown.

house of water: Pawn moves back and reaches 15 again.

house of happiness: A manadatory house for all the pawns to cross.

house of ra: Pawn can leave this house only when a 2 is thrown.

rules: - It consistes of 3 rows of 10 squares called "houses". - Each layer gets seven pawns each and is placed alternatively. - Person throws the sticks to see how many squares to move the pawn. - The pawns move along the board in an "S" pattern. - You can't land on one of your own pieces. - If you land on the other player's piece, you switch places with them. - If the other player has three pieces in a row, you can't pass them. - The first player to get all of their pieces off the board wins the game.

explore During exploration stage we played various diffferent board games to understand how to use LUCK, STRATEGY, SKILLS AND LOGIC. Making sure to keep the essence of the game senet we explored by - Increasin the lenght - Changing form of the board. -Increasing situations. -Including strategy. -Giving it a theme

theme “egyptian gods The Egyptians had elaborate beliefs about death and the afterlife They also believed in a pantheon of gods, which were involved in all aspects of nature and human society. This game was an insuation of how a soul crosses over to heaven but going through a number of tests by various gods. We took inspiration from the reign of different gods and their wraths to increase situations.

final concept We divided the game into five games that go on simulteniously. The five games are based on 5 different gods thus the situations differ. Once a person throws a number they have to decide in which house to move thier player such that it is the first one out to win that house. The person that exists most houses first wins the game. We have introduced many new twists and turns.
