LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD
Beauty is certainly more than skin deep, but there is a connection between how we look and how we feel.
Many women—and men—can get a confidence boost just by having a good hair day or taking care of their bodies. It’s more about feeling good about yourself than it is about conforming to traditional beauty constructs. If you’re feeling a little down lately, try one or two of these pick me ups. It’s amazing what a little TLC can do for your psyche.
HIT THE GYM (OR THE TRAIL)
Sweating does more than help you lose weight or tone your body. A gym sesh can have you feeling better instantly thanks to the release of endorphins. Plus, you’re likely to experience an energy boost. More than that, working out can make you feel strong, sexy, and accomplished. There is nothing more empowering than feeling like you can take on the world.
GET A MAKEOVER
We’re not talking Botox and plastic surgery (unless that’s what you want to do). Something as simple as a mini shopping spree or new haircut can make all the difference in how you feel about your outer appearance. And sometimes looking fierce translates to feeling fierce. So, pick up a new outfit before you ask for that raise or adopt a new makeup routine for date night. Whatever it is, if it helps you feel good then it isn’t silly.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SEXY
Feeling sexy has to do with all of your senses. While your outward appearance may be a big part of that, feeling relaxed, accomplished, and good in the spaces you are in can also help. Put some pizazz in your office with bright colors and #girlboss swag that inspires you or turn your bedroom into a cozy oasis designed to soothe the stress that can build-up over a long day.
FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT
Sometimes when you don’t feel confiden t , f e i g n i n g confi d e n c e can help. It sounds counterintuitive, but for some it truly works. Stop focusing on your flaws and instead draw attention to your most a p p e a l i n g attributes. Soon, others will be focusing on those, too, and that false act of confidence may become natural faster than you thought.
