BEST OF FOOD

When it comes to cuisine, San Joaquin County is a melting pot of cultures and styles. From Indian dishes to Filipino favorites, there’s a little of everything from Tracy to Lodi. Our ‘Best Of’ list always has some staples, winners crowned year after year in their respective categories. We’re never surprised to see American Waffle Diner take home the gold for best waffles (and they consistently make an appearance on the best bloody mary list, too!) or Tandoori Nites land amongst favorites for the best Indian grub in the county.

This year notable standouts include Garlic Brothers and Midgley’s Public House, both appearing in the top three for a whopping four categories—the most of any business in the food section. The Kitchen @ Stonebrier, 5 Window Beer Co., Bud’s Seafood Grille, Prime Table Steakhouse and Market Tavern all earned three.

In addition to long-time favorites—Chuck’s Hamburgers and Avenue Grill are both mainstays in our breakfast categories—there were a couple of newcomers, as well. And some of the county’s oldest establishments made an appearance on our list for the first time in a long time. They must be doing something right!

Read on to learn about the top three spots.
