When you have free time, how do you spend it? One of our favorite aspects of living in San Joaquin County is that we can play where we live—no need to leave the county for wholesome family fun, or an adults-only night on the town.

When it comes to hanging out in Stockton, we’re loving the newish FED, with its extensive menu of elevated bar food, its late night drink menus, a busy calendar of events, and more—it seems there is always something to do at FED. But that’s just the beginning for locals looking for activities in SJC. From museums to golf courses, art galleries to hotels, you can have your own little staycation in Lodi or choose a postwork activity in Stockton for you and your friends.

We see some repeat winners on our play list this year, including Brookside Country Club for private golf course, Swenson’s for public golf, and Wine & Roses for favorite hotel. Jackson Rancheria is also always in the mix when it comes to the best nearby casino, so we know readers are headed there when they want to gamble and let loose. Or perhaps they are sticking close to home, keeping their money local with a trip to Kings Card Club in Stockton.
