Ambassador Club

Mission Statement: Strengthen overall relationship with members by assisting with Chamber events and creating awareness of the Chamber in the community. The Ambassadors meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; locations vary.

Business Development Committee

Mission Statement: To serve the small and minority owned businesses, working closely with all businesses and community leaders and other councils to determine and recommend appropriate subjects of training, information sharing and general business assessments. The Business Development Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Chamber’s Board Room.

Education Committee

Mission Statement: Address issues of educational progress in San Marcos by strengthening the liaisons between the business community and all available resources including the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District and Texas State UniversitySan Marcos, to foster cooperative programs between business, industry and education so students will be better prepared for work experiences after graduation from high school, technical training institutions and college, serve as a vital link between local educational systems and local businesses, to encourage business leaders to participate in the classroom by allowing employees to participate in school activities and tutor students with special needs. The Education Committee meets the first Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Chamber’s Board Room.

Government Affairs Committee

Mission: Review pending and existing legislation and regulations for their impact on business and develop positions that promote the overall best interests of our members. The committee develops programs that inform and encourage members to participate in the Chamber’s government affairs initiatives. The Government Affairs Committee meets on the third Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; locations vary.

Leads Groups

Mission: Helping Chamber members grow their businesses by giving and receiving profitable leads. A Leads Group is comprised of many different types of businesses who are intently focused on being a marketing force for each other. This group becomes a networking environment where you can build relationships with other business professionals. During the leads group meetings, other members will become familiar with your business and learn how they can refer you to their own circle of contacts. Leads Group I meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 12:00 p.m. (noon) – 1:00 p.m. at various locations. Leads Group II meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the Root Cellar. Leads Group III meets every other Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) – 1:00 p.m. at various locations.

Natural Resources Committee

Goals: • Support environmental integrity as it relates to our quality of life and thus to the economic well being of the city; • Organize a Green Business recognition program for the business community to encourage environmentally sound policies; • Support the development of responsible public policies through local ordinances and state regulations; • Continue participation in stewardship of the San Marcos River, and the management of the Edwards Aquifer. The Natural Resources Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Chamber’s Board Room.

Work with Chamber Staff to organize major special fundraising events for the Chamber; Increase profitability of special events and consider new events to meet program needs of the organization.
