*Before the start date of the program, should the U.S. State Department issue a “Travel Warning” that warns American citizens against all non-essential travel to Paris, France, ACCENT will immediately advise SBCC to cancel its program. If the program is canceled by SBCC, ACCENT will refund the entire program fee to all participants on that program.

Travel & Housing Air Transportation. SBCC has contracted with ACCENT to provide travel and housing arrangements for the Paris Summer ’18 Program.

Group Flight Deadline: March 16, 2018 ACCENT will organize an optional round-trip group flight from LAX to Paris on a regularly scheduled airline. Airfare is not included in the

program price. Space on the group flight cannot be guaranteed after the flight payment deadline March 16, 2018. The group flight must have a minimum of 10 participants. In case the minimum is not reached, the group flight may be canceled.

Information meetings for the program will be held on the SBCC Campus.

You may make your own travel arrangements if you do not wish to travel with the group.

Attendance is not mandatory for participation in the program

ACCENT representative(s) will meet the group flight participants at the appropriate airport in Paris on June 25, 2018.

Parents and students are welcome to attend.

For the group arrival transfer, ACCENT will arrange a coach bus or taxi transfer from the Paris airport to the designated arrival point in Paris. All participants are responsible for checking in at the designated arrival point and time on the scheduled date of arrival. Participants missing the transfer and/or check-in time are responsible for making and paying their own transfer and first-night accommodations respectively. Detailed arrival information will be provided to all participants approximately two weeks prior to arrival.

Housing Arrangements. Exact housing placements will be provided to participants upon your arrival. Double/triple single-sex occupancy rooms in shared student apartments with a kitchen, bathroom, and general living area, will be provided in Paris. Program Description Live and study in Paris, the premier art capital of the world! Paris is the best place to see the art of the Romantics and the Impressionists. Study the work of Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Degas, Rodin, Van Gogh, and Toulouse Lautrec. Learn about the artists and their work in the world’s most famous museums. Over the centuries, so many of them have come to Paris to work and be inspired by the beauty and energy of this city. Experience in person the art you’ve admired in textbooks and movies! Explore Gothic cathedrals, Renaissance castles, Baroque palaces, classical gardens, and of course the Eiffel Tower and the Old Paris Opera House. Paris also has exceptional modern and fascinating postmodern buildings! Gather insight into French culture by living in the heart of this beautiful French city during this summer program. Experience fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day and the finale of the Tour de France in the heart of Paris! Read a book in an intimate park. Enjoy lively Parisian cafés, discover delicious food and vibrant music scenes by night.

Program Director Dr. Joy Kunz teaches Art History at SBCC and combines her love of art, architecture, and travel in SBCC Study Abroad programs. Dr. Kunz has traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, and South America. She earned a degree in Literature from California Lutheran University, a Master's degree in Renaissance Art History from Saint Louis University, and a Ph.D. from the University of California Santa Barbara in American Modern and a sub-specialty in European 19th Century Art and Architecture. One of Professor Kunz's greatest pleasures is introducing students to great art and architecture and to the rich experience of living in Paris.

Program Requirements The Summer 2018 program in Paris is open to students who are 18+ years and who are in good academic standing. There is no language or major requirement. You do not have to be currently enrolled at SBCC, but must enroll for Summer II, 2018 once you are accepted to the program. You will be required to attend a mandatory pre-departure meeting in May 2018. Details will be sent prior to the meeting.

Application Deadline We encourage you to apply early as the number of places is limited.

Submit the non-refundable $250 application deposit with the program application and required application documents to the SBCC Study Abroad Office by April 16, 2018. Please make check out to ACCENT. We cannot accept cash! After review of your application, an interview with Professor Kunz will be scheduled. If you live outside the Santa Barbara area, you may be interviewed by telephone. The deposit check will be forwarded to ACCENT, our service provider, upon your official acceptance to the program, at which point it becomes non-refundable. Subsequent payment needs to be made directly to ACCENT. Failure to make any payment when due will automatically cancel you from the program one week after the payment due date. Travel & Housing Air Transportation. SBCC has contracted with ACCENT to provide travel and housing arrangements for the Paris Summer ’18 Program.

Group Flight Deadline: March 16, 2018 ACCENT will organize an optional round-trip group flight from LAX to Paris on a regularly scheduled airline. Airfare is not included in the

program price. Space on the group flight cannot be guaranteed after the flight payment deadline March 16, 2018. The group flight must have a minimum of 10 participants. In case the minimum is not reached, the group flight may be canceled.

Information meetings for the program will be held on the SBCC Campus.

You may make your own travel arrangements if you do not wish to travel with the group.

Attendance is not mandatory for participation in the program

ACCENT representative(s) will meet the group flight participants at the appropriate airport in Paris on June 25, 2018.

Parents and students are welcome to attend.

For the group arrival transfer, ACCENT will arrange a coach bus or taxi transfer from the Paris airport to the designated arrival point in Paris. All participants are responsible for checking in at the designated arrival point and time on the scheduled date of arrival. Participants missing the transfer and/or check-in time are responsible for making and paying their own transfer and first-night accommodations respectively. Detailed arrival information will be provided to all participants approximately two weeks prior to arrival.
