SPECIAL INSERT

ARTsmart’s Edible Art Tour From 5–8 pm on June 8 and June 9, Santa Fe’s galleries and restaurants host the 21st Edible Art Tour (EAT), one of the city’s most popular events, to support visual arts programming for New Mexico youth. Gallery-and-restaurant pairings showcase fabulous art and culinary creations at locations along a mapped walking tour. Tickets are $35 per person, and include both Friday and Saturday nights. Ticket purchases help fund ARTsmart New Mexico, the nonprofit organization sponsoring the tour. Come walk, eat, and take in the extravaganza of art while giving to New Mexico’s youth. Friday, June 8, Canyon Road Edible Art Tour, 5–8 pm Saturday, June 9, Downtown Edible Art Tour, 5–8 pm Friday night’s kick-off party takes place at Gallery 901, 555 Canyon Road. The event begins at 5 pm with an official greeting and proclamation delivered from the mayor’s office by Councilor Signe Lindell. Food will be provided by Floriana Venetico Catering, and free 2018 Edible Art Tour Posters, signed by artist Deborah Gold, will be available. Gallery 901 has a special exhibition of Gold’s work in the gallery, with 10 percent of proceeds from sales made from June 8–11 going to ARTsmart New Mexico. For nearly three decades, ARTsmart has provided award-winning arts programming to some of the state’s underserved communities and public schools. ARTsmart teachers provide hands-on instruction and encourage children in kindergarten through high school to explore and engage in a variety of artistic modalities. Programs range from weekly in-school and after-school classes to spring break and summer workshops, and include workshops for incarcerated youth. ARTsmart also offers a Youth Mural Program, Visiting Artist Program, Honorary Artist Program, The Children’s Painted Ceramics Project, and the Art Changes Lives Scholarship. EAT TICKETS: $35 per person (includes both Friday and Saturday nights). Purchase at Ventana Fine Art, online at artsmartnm.org, or at the ARTsmart Community Studio, 1201 Parkway Dr. Tickets will also be available at participating galleries. ARTsmart’s 2018 EAT Santa Fe is underwritten by Gallery 901.
