HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

GRADUATION-CAP Associate in Science Degree (A.S.)

The Health Information Technology (HIT), Associate in Science degree is a CAHIIM-accredited 70-credit hour program. HIT professionals are experts in managing, securing and protecting patient health information. They have a diverse skill set and can perform all aspects of operations management for any health care provider. One hundred percent of the courses are available ONLINE; professional practices are required, with proctored testing requirements.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the AHIMA RHIT National Certification exam to include the medical coding certifications, CCA, CCS or CPC. Upon graduation, the student will not only graduate with an A.S. degree but also will receive their medical coder biller certificate. When students include taking STA2023, upon graduation, the student becomes eligible to receive the data management analytics specialist certificate. HIT professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the health care industry, such as hospitals, physician offices, long-term care facilities, insurance companies and government agencies. The degree prepares students for several bachelor’s degrees at Santa Fe College.

Health Services Management

GRADUATION-CAP Associate in Science Degree (A.S.)

The Associate in Science, Health Services Management program is designed for individuals with an interest in health care management and students preparing to transfer into SF’s Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Health Services Administration program. Health services professionals provide important administrative and supportive services in a plethora of health care settings. After successfully completing this program, the students will demonstrate a knowledge of health care delivery systems, legal and ethical considerations, information technology application in health care, leadership and administrative responsibilities, and basic finance, accounting and budgeting functions.

Office Administration

GRADUATION-CAP Associate in Science Degree (A.S.)

The Associate in Science in Office Administration program is designed for students who are interested in working as an administrative assistant, office manager, or providing clerical support in a modern office setting. Successful completion of the program develops students skills in the use of common software applications, office procedures, document production, and common business terms and knowledge. Students may continue their education in several Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science programs.

Paralegal Studies

GRADUATION-CAP Associate in Science Degree (A.S.)

The Associate in Science in Paralegal Studies program prepares you for employment as a legal assistant—also known as a paralegal—in settings such as law offices, court houses and state agencies. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the Certified Legal Assistant Exam sponsored by the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

Accounting

GRADUATION-CAP Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.)

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Accounting program is designed to provide comprehensive training in accounting with curriculum that includes intermediate and advanced accounting, accounting theory, tax, auditing, managerial accounting, governmental and non-profit accounting, accounting information systems and financial statement analysis. Students will learn techniques that apply to real-world problem solving and begin preparation for a variety of positions in the field of accounting. Courses are offered in online and hybrid formats to meet full-time and part-time student’s needs.

Health Services Administration

GRADUATION-CAP Bachelor of Applied Science Degree (B.A.S.)

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Services Administration (HSA) program prepares you to be a manager in the health care field. As a health services manager, you will have a multitude of exciting responsibilities such as planning, directing, coordinating and supervising the provision of health care services. The HSA program will prepare you for career opportunities in many areas, including finance, consulting, operations, practice management, quality management, human resources and research grant administration. You will be able to use your diverse skills working in a variety of health service areas, including hospitals and hospital systems, health insurers and managed care organizations, pharmaceutical companies, physician practices, long-term care facilities, consulting firms, medical suppliers and device manufacturers, and wellness centers. The HSA program provides degree completion opportunities for individuals from a variety of educational backgrounds. Courses are taught online, as our program has been designed to accommodate nontraditional students. Additionally, you will have ample opportunity to interact with HSA faculty, student colleagues and industry professionals.
