PERRY CENTER FOR EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
Opened in 2009, the Charles R. and Nancy V. Perry Center for Emerging Technologies is located in Alachua, Florida, in the heart of Florida’s high-tech corridor, about 13 miles from Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus.
Charles and Nancy Perry began dreaming of a center to serve citizens of northern Alachua County when they recognized the positive impact SF’s Blount Center had on accessible education in East Gainesville. The Perry Center fulfills that dream of providing a college education close to home for these community members.
The Perry Center focuses specifically on emerging technology degrees. The center is equipped with cutting-edge laboratories and state-of-the-art technology classrooms. The Perry Center is located near Santa Fe High School, which offers a biotechnology program that articulates to the SF Biotechnology A.S. degree, and is across the street from Progress Corporate Park. Progress Park is a growing industrial park anchored by the University of Florida’s UF Innovate | Sid Martin Biotech facility.
Certificates And Degrees Defined
Certificate programs offer career and technical courses to prepare you for entry directly into employment. A certificate typically takes four months to two years to complete. However, students must meet specific basic skills requirements in English, mathematics, and writing.
Associate in Science Degree
The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program is designed to get you ready for a career, but in some cases, it may transfer to a bachelor’s program. A.S. programs are a good balance of general education coursework and hands-on training with the end goal of preparing you to enter the workforce with a competitive skill set. The A.S. degree typically takes two years to complete.
A bachelor’s degree is the highest degree you can achieve in undergraduate education. Santa Fe College offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degrees in certain program areas. For most, a bachelor’s degree at SF is the next step after obtaining an A.A. or an A.S. degree. It allows students to continue to build skills and advance in a career field. A bachelor’s degree typically requires two additional years of classes after completing an A.A. or A.S. degree.
