OVERVIEW, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the college providing leadership, strategic direction, and unwavering support to the academic enterprise, ensuring the college maintains the highest standards of academic excellence and student success, with a strong commitment to academic freedom, shared governance and support for faculty and staff. The Provost must embody a deep commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, and have a proven track record of providing collaborative, visionary and innovative leadership. The next Provost must also have a clear understanding of enrollment management and a record of working with others to develop data informed strategies to address changing enrollment trends, retention, performance gaps and overall student success. The next Provost is expected to have a clear understanding of the evolving nature of higher education and will have the opportunity to engage with an accomplished, high quality, engaged and committed faculty, staff, and administrative team to champion the needs of the academic enterprise and shape the academic vision for the future and further enhance the student experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Plays a fundamental role in the formation of the academic direction and the development of short- and long-term academic plans for the college aligned with the mission and commitment to academic excellence and student success.
• Develops and articulates a clear vision and comprehensive plan for the Academic Affairs division and sets goals and milestones to measure and evaluate success.
• Provides informed, decisive and diplomatic leadership with complete transparency and respect for shared governance.
• Ensures timely review and assessment of academic programs, student learning and faculty performance.
• In partnership with the Academic leadership and faculty, thoughtfully introduces academic programs and services that are responsive to student, community and industry demand.
• Fosters student academic success, development, belonging and well-being.
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and adherence to accreditation standards.
• Cultivates positive relationships with local, state and national colleagues and forges strategic alliances with employment, industry, educational and political partners.
• Evaluates and sets academic policy that establishes standards that enhance the teaching and learning environment and maintain educational excellence.
• Innovates to increase access, lifelong learning, student success and learning effectiveness.
• Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Promotes a positive and professional culture of open communication and participation that unifies faculty and staff within Academic Affairs and throughout the college.
• Fosters and maintains a culture of service excellence.
• Recruits and retains a highly qualified diverse faculty and cultivates an inclusive sense of community for faculty, staff, and students.
• Is fiscally responsible and a good steward of the resources entrusted to the college.
• Seeks alternative sources of funding and entrepreneurial opportunities to maximize college offerings and ensure the procurement of adequate facilities, supplies and equipment.
• Creates a cohesive, motivated and inspired academic leadership team through excellent communication, professional development, collaboration and evaluation.
• Champions innovation, supports advancement through assessment and review, and incorporates institutional research data with faculty reflection and student feedback in to the evaluation process.
• Curates a student focused environment.
