Amazing Art with Venetian Plaster with Sandra Duran Wilson
Venetian Plaster is my favorite medium to work in because it renders such rich and mysterious surfaces. We will create multiple layers using plaster, acrylic paints, mediums and papers. The beauty of this material is that it is so easy to use and you can embed material into the plaster and once dry you can unearth parts of it. Many layers of color, plaster, transfers, textures and objects will magically “float” to the surface as we rub back into the history to reveal bits and parts like an archeological dig. Transfers take on a dreamy quality and the final burnish and finish is satiny and smooth. Come play and create and allow yourself time to immerse yourself in your art. All levels are welcome and individual attention is possible in this small group setting. All supplies are included in the price so you just show up for your art. The class is held in my light filled studio in Santa Fe and is limited to 8 participants. You will leave with at least 2 finished works of art. Create your own original small painting and interpret your visit to Santa Fe with award-winning artist Shirley Crow. Play with techniques she uses in her studio, in the historic village of Tesuque only a few minutes from Santa Fe, along scenic Bishop’s Lodge Road. Explore your creativity in an ideal setting —a contemporary house and garden specializing in grasses, and a roomy, light-filled studio looking onto the pinon-juniper landscape. Learn a special technique that Shirley Crow uses in her mysterious, abstract oil paintings and explore the magic of color relationships with various methods using brushes and paints. You’ll also work with influences and inspirations as you express the colors of New Mexico in your own work…NO ART EXPERIENCE NECESSARY AND ALL LEVELS WELCOME!
